Primaris Hellblasters for 40k Raven Guard

Primaris Hellblaster models - multi-part plastic figures from GW.

These guys have been sitting, primed, on or near my painting desk for like a year and a half! So while I'm beavering away on some 30k projects in the background, I thought I would just get these guys finished off. This is a unit of "Hellblasters", Primaris Space Marines from GW's Warhammer 40k setting. They are multi-part plastic models, painted in my interpretation of the colours of the Raven Guard Chapter, accentuated with embossed Raven Guard accents from one of the relevant accessory kits.

I was trying to get an "aiming" vibe with this guy, but in the end, with the angle of his head, he almost looks to be more confused about whatever he is about to blast...that can't be right for a Space Marine!

As always, I try to use a "beakie" style helmet on the officer, even on the Primaris kits.

These newer, larger plastic Space Marine kits tend to offer a number of variations on the main weapon - in this case, a plasma incinerator of some kind. These models, with the extra power cables connecting their weapons to an additional auxiliary unit on their backpacks, are carrying to heaviest/hardest-hitting variant of the gun. So these particular Marines are less mobile, but their weapons are likelier to hurt heavily armoured enemies, a useful bit of variety for my 40k Raven Guard (although I find the "Eradicators" to be much more useful for that).

A view showing the enhanced power packs and cable connections for the plasma weaponry.

I had built and primed these guys quite a while ago, and finding the Hellblasters to be not-that-useful during games, they had not received any paint...but enough was enough, and I thought it was time to get them painted up. After all, I think it is good to try and appease the Hobby Gods by, every so often, painting up some of the longer-suffering figures, and I am trying to boost my available 40k Raven Guard force toward the 2,000 point level, so good to get these fellows painted.

Ready for some blasting on the gaming table...

And, as heavily-armoured, scary space soldiers with terrifying guns, these guys look the part, and fit in well with emerging range of new (in relative terms) Space Marine models. Hopefully they will get the chance to blast some poor heretic or Xenos form to bits on a gaming table soon. That's all for now - thanks for reading, and I hope that, where you live, "spring" is actually happening...because it certainly isn't happening in Canada this year...

Painting Challeng Submission 10 - 40k Raven Guard Contraption

Invictor War Suit for my Raven Guard Space Marines. Plastic model from GW.

Have I been asleep at the blogging switch? Well, yes, yes I have...work has been busy, eating into spare time (which is OK - it pays for miniatures!) but the remaining spare time has been ruthlessly focused on painting, and on meeting my commitments as a "Minion" for Curt's Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge. So I have been posting stuff there, and neglecting here...enough of that! Time to catch up a bit.

Before I do, just have to acknowledge the work the Conscripts have been doing for this edition of the Painting Challenge. Frederick in particular is CRUSHING it, racking up huge points totals and keeping the honour of the Fawcett Avenue Conscripts up near the top of the league tables. Well done! Be sure to check out their work - as well as that of Dave (OGRE!), Mike F (More 30k! More!) and Byron (10mm Fantasy!) on the Painting Challenge Blog - and I hope they might also find the time to post here about it as well. And I know Dallas will be along soon to share some "Churchillian" efforts of his own...you guy have been doing great, and as the Challenge comes down to the wire, I'm sure you'll have more stuff to bring across the painting finish line!

OK - back to catching up on my own Painting Challenge stuff. Up first, another item for my 40k Raven Guard project. This is some sort of bonkers contraption known as an "Invictor War Suit". This is a multi-part plastic kit from GW, one of the newer releases for the newer Primaris Space Marine range of figures for their Warhammer 40,000 setting. It's a big walking thing with guns.

Guns solve problems, right?

Followers of this blog will already be aware of how the grim darkness of the far future is in fact overrun with big walking things with guns. Some are big. Many are bigger. Some are quite huge. But they walk, and they have guns, and thus this "newer" design takes its place in an august lineup of universe-wrecking-walking-things-with guns. But it is also a little different, at least for Space Marines...

A view of the carbon-neutral power system...

That is because the pilot of the machine is, well, a Space Marine. Makes sense. But this is still different. You see, usually, Space Marine machines of this sort, called "Dreadnoughts", are 'crewed' by a near-dead Marine, who is essentially entombed in the machine, allowing them to fight for the Emperor for, like, nearly eternity. Lucky them. You don't see the 'pilot', because his remaining bits are plugged into arcane machinery, hidden under slabs of armour.

So. Many. Guns.

But this thing...well, it just has a roll-cage, and the pilot can hop in and hop back out. Like a kind of regular machine. I mean, still a whacky, far-future, gun-festooned machine...but a pilot that can hop out, check things over, compare notes with fellow pilots...that seems borderline heretical! This design brings to mind the sort of "war-jack" type walker units seen in other sci-fi settings, such as the "APU Defense Sentinels" from the otherwise un-watchable "Matrix: Revolutions" film.

This kit was certainly a challenge to put together...GW made some heroic assumptions about what bits you might glue, and others you might not, and how the whole thing would work. I had major issues sorting out the cockpit, and a lot of trouble with the legs. Enough trouble that I am confident this will be the only such machine that will be joining my 40k Raven Guard forces...give me a normal dreadnought over this thing any day...

Some unsolicited feedback for the design of this model...

But for all the issues, more guns is more guns, and when you are defending The Emperor, it seems you can never have quite enough guns. This thing delivers - and for added fun, it can punch recalcitrant unbelievers into dust for sport.

The cage doesn't exactly close, like it says it will in the instructions...but close enough. All aboard for fun!

I hope to bring this monster into action this weekend. That will be its first game. What could go wrong? We all know how newly-painted figures dominate the tabletop, right?

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more shortly!

Painting Challenge Submission 3 - Space Marine "Cooking" Specialists

We're not here to negotiate...Space Marine "Eradicators" from the Indomitus box set.

My third submission to Curt's Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge continued a theme...more scary Space Marines! These are multi-part plastic models for GW's "Warhammer 40,000" setting - they are "Primaris Eradicators", from the "Indomitus" box set released back in 2020. They are painted in the colours of the Raven Guard Chapter (or, I should say, my interpretation of those colours). The decals are from GW, but the embossed Raven Guard chapter symbols on the shoulder plates are from "Pop Goes The Monkey".

As ever, the Sergeant in the unit sports an old-style "beakie" helmet.

In the setting of Warhammer 40k, space is full of dark, horrible things like rebels, aliens, monsters, accountants and other terrible monsters. Some of these terrors from deep space are so fearsome as to even give the fabled Space Marines a problem or two...or, at least they might, were it not for these sorts of Space Marines. Clad in very, very heavy powered armour (same as that worn by the Heavy Intercessors), these "Eradicators" carrying very terrifying fusion weapons that are quite useful for wiping out vehicles, monsters and other irritating gribblies blocking the great glory of The Emperor.

The "melta rifle" - for when it absolutely, positively has to be "eradicated"....

Yes, when the going gets tough for the Space Marines, they call in the Eradicators, ensuring The Emperor's enemies are rendered down to a few carbon atoms. I mean, the weapons are called "melta rifles" - truly, it's all in the name, as they say. Not much will be left of anything that gets hit with a few of these...

I find the little "explosion" symbol on the shoulder (used to denote heavy support-type elements) looks hilariously close to a Maple Leaf...maybe it is just the effect of the red lining on the shoulder plate.

I quite like the OTT heavy armour these fellows wear - it is the same kit as the Heavy Intercessors. They are chunky, heavy figures, much taller and heavier than an "average" 28mm human, and in this sense the new range of Space Marine models aligns much more with the sorts of Marines described in the various stories published by GW's Black Library. Again, the design, look and feel of these models are very different to that of the classic Marine models of the Rogue Trader era, but these do have an appeal of their own. These are very heavy sci-fi infantry.

Rear view showing the heavy power packs and - naturally - holstered pistols in case things get a little too close for comfort...

Still more 40k Raven Guard in the Challenge painting queue, so watch this space - and also be sure to check out the amazing work by Mike F, Byron M, Dave V, Dallas and Frederick elsewhere on this blog!

Painting Chalenge Submission 2 - Primaris Space Marine Judiciar and Heavy Intercessors

"Let's wreck some sh*t for The Emperor!"

Well, I have been asleep at the switch for January when it comes to blogging - but not for painting! The Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge is well underway (as you can see from our blog), with a heavy Conscript presence making itself felt. I have been busy painting, and busy posting and helping with the Challenge blog - and thus neglecting my own posts here...time to get caught up! This was my second submission to the Challenge, I continuing with my 40k Raven Guard Project. This post includes a lone character figure from the "Indomitus" box, and unit of Heavy Intercessors, all Space Marines painted to be part of the Raven Guard Chapter. These are multi-part plastic models from GW, enhanced with shoulder insignia from 3D print vendor "Pop Goes The Monkey".

Judiciar

The well-dressed aspirant to a Chaplaincy in the Raven Guard - the Judiciar.

This Marine - surely a 100% emotionally well-adjusted individual, not-at-all-total-psycho - is a "Judiciar", a new sort of character figure introduced in the "Indomitus" box set. As with all of the Marine characters from that box, there is an affectionate tribute to the OTT nature of 40k in general and Space Marines in particular.

Walking along with a giant sword and a spooky hourglass. As one does.

A Judiciar is a sort of Chaplain-in-training in the Space Marine chapter. Taking a look at his battle gear, that training seems a little...specific? Spiritual comfort via a terrifying two-handed sword and oversize spooky hourglass? Premium on confession, I expect...

Let's go for a walk!

I did make one minor modification to this figure, swapping out the silly original head (which made the guy look like a cosplay reject) with a helmet (which a Space Marine should be wearing all of the time, even if he walks around with a bonkers sword).

Heavy Intercessor Squad

No sneaking around for these Raven Guard - let's smash stuff!

Intercession, the act of intervening on behalf of another...it is a testament to the imagined terrors of the 41st millennium that the main line Space Marines of The Imperium are called "Intercessors". And when stuff arrives that even they have a little trouble with, the Space Marines call in "Heavy Intercessors" - some of the heaviest infantry to be found. These are even bigger dudes with even bigger bolt rifles and even heavier armour. These fellows are deployed when The Emperor has decided to wreck your sh*t.

Love the heavy bolt rifles, with the huge drum magazines...now THAT is some scary sci-fi heavy infantry.

I love how they still have pistols, even with all of that armour, and those heavy bolt rifles.

These "Heavy Intercessors" are some of the latest new-look Space Marines from GW - quite a long way away from the original "beakie" Space Marine models from the classic RTB 01 box released all of those years ago. While those original models will always be close to my hobby heart, I find I do like the look of these new, ultra-heavy infantry. The layered armour, the heavy bolt rifles with the extra-large drum-style magazines...these guys are fun.

Sergeant on the right, subaltern (at least, I call him that) on the left.

While the unit includes 10 models, in practice it would often break down into two different five-man teams, so I used different colours on the knee-plates the differentiate between the to sub-units. Whether in groups of five or 10, these Marines will lay down withering sheets of heavy fire on the gaming table. Then, when the inevitable "close combat" gets going on the table, these fellows will absorb a ton of abuse, hopefully holding out until their buddies with swords and other insane bits of kit come to help.

Let us intercede!

The sergeant, of course, still gets a "beakie" style helmet, a tribute to the history of the old Space Marine models. Seeing that old style of helmet on the new "Gravis" power armour certainly underlines how different today's figure designs are, at least for an old grognard like me.

Stay tuned for more posts as I get caught up - and be sure to check out the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge (while also keeping an eye on this space) to see so much excellent work from other Fawcett Avenue Conscripts!

Maloghurt "The Twisted" & Resizing Marines in 30k

The Warmaster will see you now...

Two things I wanted to touch on with this post. First, I wanted to show some more 30k painting progress, and the nature of the specific figure will lead to the second topic.

But first things first - here is Maloghurst "The Twisted", Equerry to The Warmaster. This is a character figure for GW's Horus Heresy setting, released very recently by the folks at Forge World. This is a "28mm" Space Marine character figure - I put the miniature size in "scare quotes" for reasons we'll explore later in the post.

Maloghurst "The Twisted" - Equerry to Horus Lupercal

Malghurst "The Twisted" - equerry to the Warmaster - figure from Forge World

In the Horus Heresy setting, the Space Marine Legions are replete with specialized officers. Whereas the Space Marine "Chapter" in the 40k setting is something of a lean, specialized organization, the Legions of 30k were a travelling military-industrial complex in space. They were huge organizations, with tens and tens of thousands of fighting Space Marines and all that would be needed to support them and go along with them. Apothecaries, techmarines, priests/psykers (in some Legions, though not all), champions, signal officers, standard bearers etc. etc. etc. on and on. Just take a look at your Legiones Astartes army list, and see all of the various "Consul" options available - it's quite a buffet to choose from!

But wait, there's more! With the huge Legion Astartes organizations, the command echelons boasted a wide assortment of flunkies as well, especially on the staffs of the Primarchs, the top commanders of the Legion. "Equerry" is one such job - I believe the word has something to do with managing horses, but the in the 30k setting, "Equerry" seems to be a sort of principal secretary, keeping an eye on things, representing the boss at meetings, following up on important matters, making sure the lattes are the correct temperature, etc.

Plenty of Horus iconography (I mean, obviously), but you can also see the power-pack sort of device on his hip...part of the augment/movement assistance system on the custom armour.

These equerrys often make short appearances in the Horus Heresy novels from Black Library. I think Kharn was equerry to Angron - before both of them descended into total "need-blood-need-skullz" losers. Given Horus Lupercal's central role in the, well, "Horus" Heresy, his equerry is a recurring character. Maloghurst is mentioned in the early moments of the first novel, "Horus Rising", in which he is seriously injured. He recovers somewhat from these injuries - he is a Space Marine, after all - but is always a bit damaged relative to his colleagues. Thus he is named "The Twisted" - a reference to his bodily state, but also his mental ability, as he is apparently gifted in handling the petty, bitchy politics that go on between the tiresome Primarchs of 30k. Horus might turn to the Mournival for advice on strategy or the means to approach a given battle, but he would count on Maloghurst for advice on how to reply to whatever tiresome correspondence and instruction arrived from Malcador, and the latest gossip on the other Primarchs etc.

Thanks to the folks at Forge World, you can include Malgohurst on your gaming tables if you like. Since I had painted up a Horus Lupercal figure, and as I have a large collection of Sons of Horus marines already, I was quick to order Maloghust when he became available. The sculpt is lovely, very well done. There are details large and small that speak to his exalted status as top flunky - the huge icon on the standard, bedecked with the usual skulls (of course) and odd Cthonian gang markings (aka scratches) - as well as some nice batons and a ceremonial sort of blade on his back. His weapon has a retro look and feel, befitting his status as a senior veteran within the Legion. The backpack is clever, and blends several retro-yet-pre-chaos-marine style elements. Given the fate of the XVI Legion, the look is perfect.

Command batons/scroll containers on the back - you can also see more of his supplemental support system on his power pack, and on his left leg (a big of an exo-skeleton added to the leg armour).

There are also details that speak to his injuries. Some are small - one leg has some augments to the frame, there are power/blood/other fluid packs and units on the back and sides, all small signs that Maloghurst requires some support to stay in the role he has.

The posing suggests of the figure builds on these small detail. The way he is standing implies that is takes some effort just to be upright, even with all of the gadgets. Maloghurst is leaning, slightly forward, resting a leg on some rubble, and one arm braced on the pole for stability. He is not just holding it there for all to be impressed by...he is leaning on that thing in order to manage to stand 3/4 upright...the overall pose  speaks the effort on his part just to stand there, ready to shoot someone...

"I have some feedback from Horus..."

But the best part of this figure is the sculpting and positioning of the head...normally I hate Marine figures without their helmets, but here, I have to say, the sculptors did a perfect job. His head is somewhat hunched - which would match his hunched pose - but it has the effect also of giving him a menacing, calculating expression. Note the level of his exposed eye - it is just above the rim of his neck armour, so he can observe, but the rest of his face is hidden - this just suits the character so well...watching, waiting, observing. Other details (like the icon on the standard) are much larger. But the head is somehow still the centrepiece, skulking in place, of this figure. You can see Maloghurst seeing you, but cannot see what he might be saying or thinking...this is very, very well done in my opinion.

"Primaris" Scale Creep Coming To 30k?

Maloghurst on the right, and "Legion Centurion" model on the left. Both are ostensibly wearing Mark III power armour. Remember - the Maloghurst sculpt is also hunched over...

There is something else very notable on this figure (in addition to the magnificent sculpting). He is f***ing huge. Now, there are variables...Maloghurst is an important named character in the Legion, and he's carrying the Warmaster's official standard, so he is going to look ominous...but at the end of the day he is a Space Marine wearing Mark III power armour - customized, yes - but Mark III. And he is notably larger than other Mark III models - even with his hunched posture. What might be happening here?

One should not over-interpret the data...it's just one figure, and he is a special character after all. Space Marines can be extra huge, and naturally the Warmaster would have some big chap to be his "equerry", would he not? You would not hand your official Legion icon to some trainee fresh out of the vat.

And yet. And yet. We have all seen what is happening with the Space Marines over on the "40k side of the shop" - the new Primaris size figures, introduced a few years ago with the 8th edition of the 40k game, are squeezing out the older line of plastic figures. While a dumb storyline has been contrived to allow the two sizes of Marine to coexist on gaming tables, we can all see the plain intent. This is happening at a gradual pace, to be sure, but it is happening. The days of the older plastics and the now-lesser scale are surely numbered. Will a such re-sizing be inflicted on the Horus Heresy figure range?

Here we see a Legion Praetor figure join the assemblage...this is a figure wearing Cataphractii terminator armour...Maloghurst is still notably larger...

No doubt any 30k fan out there will have seen the leaked photos purporting to come from a new set of plastic kits for the Horus Heresy. These emerged over the summer, and folks are quite excited by the implied possibilities. I know I am! "Beakie" Marines! In plastic! It's about f*cking time!

The photos are accompanied, as these things often are, by all sorts of rumours. What will be plastic, what will not, will there be a new edition etc. there are many vague hints. But one rumour that stands out to me is that the new Marine models included will be "Primaris" sized. Now, it is still just a rumour, and I find you really can't tell from the photos - but given what is happening with the 40k "Primaris" marines, it is a rumour that feels credible to me.

Maloghurst next to a Primaris Hellblaster from my 40k Raven Guard...the hunch on Malogurst makes the exact comparison tricky, but I would say they appear to be the same "size".

Anyway, the Maloghurst figure was released right around the time the leaked photos appeared online...and then when you see how big the figure is, well, it lends even more credence to the rumours...Maloghurst is as large as a Primaris-sized Marine model, and much bigger than the existing Heresy figures. Maybe it is just a one-off? I am thinking not. But at the end of the day, GW has officially said nothing about this (at least that I have seen)...so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for reading - happy painting and gaming everyone!

Primaris Lieutenant for Raven Guard

The (relatively) new(ish) Primaris Lieutenant from GW.

Here is a "Primaris Lieutenant" from GW's new range of Space Marines for Warhammer 40k. This is a "28mm" plastic figure from GW, sporting a shoulder icon from Pop Goes The Monkey. This figure comes from the "Indomitus" box set, released last year to go along with (yet another - the 9th, I think) version of the Warhammer 40k rules. It was an interesting effort, released in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and I picked up a box from the FLGS here in Sault Ste Marie last summer.

Skulls on the shield? But of course! You can also see the nice shoulder emblem from Pop Goes The Monkey.

The Indomitus box includes quite a haul of plastic multi-part goodies - you get a number of new "Primaris" Space Marines, and quite an assortment of Necron bad guys as well. While my own personal painting interests tend toward 30k more than 40k when it comes to GW, my curiousity was piqued at the time - and I painted up a small assortment of Primaris Marines last summer and fall.

The Indomitus box takes the evolution/replacement of GW's Space Marine lineup further along, with new officers, a new brand of basic troop type, some new elite-types, bike-riding Marines and some other characters. Overall, the Marine figures are pretty interesting, with the possible exception of the "Judiciar", who looks like a LARP-reject who has been kicked out of his parents' basement.

"Sure, I'm carrying a power sword that is like half-a-metre long, but still, take THAT!"

In particular, the Marine elites/officers in this box have a bit of a pseudo-medieval touch to them...there are tabards, swords, relic bits and big shields. And skulls and skeletons of course :) This Lieutenant figure is an example of all of these aspects...he has a tabard, a huge sword, a fancy shield and lots of trinkets and purity seals etc. For all that, it should be noted that he still has a nice gun too...a "neo-volkite pistol" - nice to see the 30k volkite weapons getting a shout-out in the new edition of 40k.

Lots of character on this character figure. Fun to paint.

Most Indomitus fans have already painted all of their Indomitus box set miniatures. Me? Well, having had the Indomitus box for a year, I thought it was time to finally paint at least ONE of the miniatures inside, so I put him together a couple weeks ago. I have to say, he was fun to paint! I also have to vouch for the stuff from "Pop Goes The Monkey" - there a lot of great accessories available there, with many that will work perfectly with the new "Primaris" marines. It was great to be able to slap a Raven Guard icon on the shoulder guard of this figure - looks so much better than a decal, especially considering all of the other schwag/flare this fellow is carrying around.

One thing I learned is that I need some new white paints...you can see the finish on the helmet and shield looks pretty streaky/chalky...something to sort out over the summer, as I slowly assemble more figures from the Indomitus box and get them ready for painting. I haven't even decided if I will paint the others as Raven Guard figures, or something else...who knows? Something for my hobby brain to worry away about.

Thanks for visiting - hope you are somewhere the COVID restrictions are able to be relaxed!

40k Raven Guard Officer and Standard Bearer

Space Marine Lieutenant and Standard Bearer for the Raven Guard chapter.
One last bit of 40k-themed painting to share from this summer at the cabin - a couple of command figures to lead the little unit of Raven Guard Space Marines - an officer and a "Company Ancient", more obviously known "Space Marine carrying chapter banner".

Both guns ready!
I generally dislike Space Marine figures who are not wearing their helmets - after all, space is dangerous, The Emperor spent a lot of money creating you, so wear your damn helmet! But leaving the helmet IS an easy way to single out commanders, and in this case the helmet was already cast on to the figure's belt, so I didn't bother trying to convert it.

Helmet clipped to the belt line on the armour.

Bolt pistol at the ready. I also tried to put some detail on his little "comms unit" built into his wrist.
Besides, even without the helmet, he still looks scary and imposing, and I have to say I really like the sculpt a lot. He's got his bolt rifle AND bolt pistol handy for action...don't mess with him.

Skulls and purity seals...all of the things that make for a good banner to inspire a Space Marine unit.
The detachment is small, but it is still important enough to have a banner! In the grim darkness of the far future, nobody will take your terrifying, power-armoured, genetically-enhanced super warriors SERIOUSLY unless they BRING A FLAG, right? Of course! I know the banners are nuts, but I love the whole idea of it, so naturally had to have one for these fellows.

Not much to see behind the banner, but he still has all of the usual Space Marine bits (power pack, bolt pistol, etc.)
And he doesn't just carry the flag! He's ready to shoot things with his bolt rifle  as needed.
There are a lot of decals on these figures, and I was glad I still had my 30k decal sheet for the Raven Guard Legion from Forge World, as the otherwise available decals are not that inspiring, to say the least. The Forge World decal sheets cost an arm and a leg, of course (everything from Forge World does, after all), but wow, they are a great resource.

40k Raven Guard so far...nice little summer project.
So the painting pace was pretty slow this summer - but to take part in some small 40k skirmishes, the Raven Guard can now put a small detachment into the battle line. Who knows when that will be? Here's hoping one of those COVID vaccines makes the mark soon...

Thanks for reading - have a great long weekend and stay safe.

40k Space Marine Eliminators

Space Marine Eliminators for the Raven Guard Chapter. Plastic figures from GW.
Giant armoured space troopers with terrifying laser-sniper rifles? Sounds great! And GW's got you covered. The 40k painting parade from the summer at the cabin continues. This is a unit of Space Marine "Eliminators", and it looks like they are well-equipped to live up to their name.

Taking a careful aim in the name of The Emperor...

The decal is glossy...these figures will get a spray of dullcote when the humidity moves on this fall.
Of course, when you think of a "sniper", you think of concealment and stealth too, and these models try to invoke that with big cloaks and extra terrain pieces you can add to the bases. Personally, I think the idea that 8-foot-tall genetically-enhanced warriors wearing massive power armour "sneaking" around anywhere is kind of ludicrous, but I do like the idea of Space Marine "marksmen" with terrifying rifles. It's a cool sci-fi concept, these guys dealing well-aimed shots, sowing confusion, even damaging enemy vehicles, while the tactical squads move in to finish things off and wrap up The Emperor's business.

I particularly love the rifles...the huge scopes, the power coils...all over-the-top, all entertaining.

I tried to throw a bit of a pseudo-camouflage pattern on the cape...but I wanted the cape to match the armour, not the actual terrain, as I don't consider huge power-armoured space marines really needing "camouflage"...by the time the Space Marines are involved, the time for "camouflage" is long past...
And these weapons are scary! These figures are carrying a "las-fusil", a rifle that will hit very, very hard and I like the bonkers, over-the-top look of these weapons.

Another whacky feature...the scope is wired directly to the eye-piece...again, bonkers and over the top - I like it!

Ready to take a shot...
These models are very nice to work with. Again, you have choices of different variants of rifles you can equip the figures with. My minor quibble would be the fact the shoulder plates are often concealed, so you cannot use the shoulder plates embossed with the chapter symbol, and to the extent they are visible, you need to use the decals. But these are minor quibbles...again, fun multi-part plastic figures.

Thanks for reading - stay safe everyone!
