If you are a reader of Jake's Rolex World, you know I consider many vintage Rolex ads to be works of art, in and of themselves. This 2012 Rolex Milgauss ad, in particular, strikes me as having magnificent composition. The GV Milgauss model (pictured below), was recently discontinued and featured the innovative, unique Rolex trademark green edged sapphire crystal, is so un-Rolexy in so many ways, but that is what makes it so interesting. The orange 3, 6, & 9 markers, coupled with the orange lighting bolt second hand, really set it apart. GV is French and means "Green Crystal." I still can't believe Rolex actually discontinued this amazingly iconic model???

Today, I received the following email with the photo below attached from Anders who said:
Hi Jake,
I'm from Denmark, but I live in London today, and I just love your blog and the fascinating stories you publish!
Recently, a fellow reader of Jake's Rolex World, Tommy, dropped you a note saying he was worried about the lack of attention the Rolex Milgauss gets.
Here in London you see them every day! It's only 9am and I've already seen two!

First iPhone 3G S Wrist-Shot
Oscar, in Florida woke up at 5am yesterday and went down to the Apple store to pick up the all-new Apple iPhone 3Gs which has a 3 Megapixel camera with a new macro touch screen function. The way it works, is that the new iPhone camera has an auto-focus camera, but if you touch an item on the screen if auto-focuses on just that item. So in this photo Oscar, touched his Rolex Milgauss GV and which put it in focus.
This is the first Rolex Wrist shot I have seen that was taken with the new iPhone and have a feeling we will be seeing many more...
I Want A Good Watch Camera...
For me personally, the significantly improved camera on the iPhone is the main reason I will be upgrading. I can't even begin to tell you how many stunning shots I missed, because of the lame camera on the earlier iPhone. The whole point of having a camera in your iPhone is so you don't have to carry around a separate point and shoot!!! At 3Megapixels, with built in auto-focus and macro point-and-focus, the new iPhone 3G S is a dream come true!!! Also, I have seen video that was shot with the iPhone and it looks really good!!!
I am extremely curious to see what hardware and software features the 4th generation iPhone that will come out a year from now will have and look like. I say this because with the feature-set on the all-new 3G S iPhone Apple picked the last of the low-hanging-fruit (pun not intended). From here on out, it has to be about real innovation and not just cobbling together 5 year old Pocket PC technology that sticks a Motorola Razr inside an HP iPaq...
