Red Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA

Red Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA
Made In Switzerland

Rubber B is an extremely innovative company that introduced the very first rubber strap made just for Rolex watches that were designed to perfectly fill in the space between the lugs on Rolex sports watches. One could argue this innovation was long overdue, but Rubber B brilliantly brought it to life.

Recently Rubber B introduced an AMAZING new rubber strap made just for the Rolex DEEPSEA SEA-DWELLER, which is pictured below in red. It has all the great trademark characteristics of earlier models including the unique T shape between the lugs which makes it instantly recognizable as a Rubber B Strap.

One of the great design innovations with the Rubber B made just for the DEEPSEA is that it is unusually wide compared to the standard Rolex Oyster bracelet. Even though the Rolex DEEPSEA seems like it is twice as large as the standard Rolex SEA-DWELLER, Rolex did not scale the Oyster Bracelet up, and some argue it looks a little strange to have such an enormous watch with a skinny, narrow bracelet.

Rubber B listened carefully to customers who said they thought the standard DEEPSEA Oyster bracelet was too skinny, and Rubber B designed the all-new DEEPSEA strap with wings that run out to the edges of the lugs, and even though the strap is tapered it tapers down to 23mm, which is really fat. All this extra width gives the watch a much more macho, tool-watch look.

Rubber B also decided to go with a beefed up buckle, to make it much easier and faster to swap out multiple Rubber B straps.
As you can see in the images above and below, the Rubber B fits perfectly into the lug space, and there is a metal shank inside the end of the strap where it fits in-between the lugs, to keep it perfectly stationary.

Essentailly the Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA gives it a completely different look, which is awesome. In my mind, it gives the DEEPSEA an even more aquatic, retro, surfer vibe. It is incredible how clean and simple the lines are on the all-new Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA.

Since the Rubber B or the DEEPSEA uses a simple buckle, it is extremely sturdy and can't fail. The strap is made in Switzerland from the finest vulcanized rubber.

The Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA is available in Red, Black and Shark Silver. I believe they plan to offer it is Safety Orange in the future.

Rubber B also announced they are coming out with a Rubber B strap made just for the all-new "Orange Hand" Rolex Explorer II this Fall. As I understand it, they will offer it in Safety Orange, and Black. I really hope it has the simple buckle system, and I REALLY hope it shares the amazing design language from the DEEPSEA model. Specifically, I hope it has the wings, and the wide buckle.

I think this winged design language gives Rolex watches and even sportier vibe, that would be very appealing to the Panerai crown, as well as tool-watch fans. Rubber B is also coming out with an all-new strap for the Ceramic Supercase Submariner, and once again, I pray Rubber B has the wisdom to make it look exactly like their DEEPSEA version.

Here is a video that really showcases in a 3 Dimensional way, just how cool looking the Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA is. This video is of an actual watch and Rubber B, not a computer simulation. It really demonstrates how beautifully precise the Rubber B is.

Rubber B is an amazing company, and I can't wait to see their new all-new models they plan to introduce this Fall!!!

Rolex Milgauss on an orange RubberB Strap

Rolex Milgauss on an Orange RubberB Strap

Jan is a fan of Jake's Rolex World and recently he sent in this photo of his white dial Rolex Milguass on an orange RubberB strap with the following email:

Hi Jake,

I'm an avid reader of your blog, and believe you are doing a fantastic job of discovering Rolex history.

I few months ago, a reader complained that the Milguass is not mentioned often enough. I think it's a great model, and wish to share my white Milgauss with an orange Rubber B strap (just drying off). I'm a terrible photographer, so the photo does not do the real thing justice.

Keep up the awesome work Jake,

All the best,
Jan

RubberB All-New Orange Strap Review & Videos...

RubberB
All-New Orange Strap Review & Videos

Wow!!!! I just completed my first video review and hopefully in the future I will do more. I am really excited to finally be able to share photos and video with you of the all-new Orange RubberB strap.

RubberB is a sponsor of Jake's Rolex World and I am a fan of their amazing products, and in particular, I am super stoked on their all new Orange RubberB strap which is pictured below. The Orange RubberB looks amazing on any black bezel Rolex Submariner or GMT Master. In particular, I was shocked at how great it looks on a vintage 1967 Rolex Submariner.

The Orange RubberB gives the vintage Rolex Submariner a whole new updated, yet retro-vibe which is very sporty, aquatic, and reminds me of Flipper and Jacques Cousteau. The shade of orange is perfect. It is almost like a light safety orange. Rolex sport watches tend to be works of art in-and-of themselves, but every rubber strap I have ever seen looks funky, but the RubberB is as much a work of art itself.

Next we see a video of the black RubberB on the same vintage 1967 Rolex Submariner, which offers another amazing look.

Here is a video review I just completed of the Orange RubberB:

I also just completed a video that shows how to install the RubberB:

RubberB Back In Orange...

RubberB Back In Orange

RubberB is an extremely innovative company as well as being a sponsor of Jake's Rolex World. When I first saw the RubberB concept I was blown away because they made the first rubber straps that were custom designed to fit perfectly into the complete lug space on many Rolex sport watches. I wrote a review of RubberB on Jake's Rolex World to show how their innovate system worked.

I spoke with the owner and I mentioned he had to offer his strap in Safety-Orange. I argued it would look really good, particularly with a standard Submariner or Sea-Dweller. Turns out RubberB agreed and just introduced their updated strap in orange!!!

This new model in orange is actually a second-generation strap, which is similar in many ways to the older version—including their T shaped design—but different in one way. Basically, the first generation version was designed to accommodate all wrist sizes including people with enormous wrists. The challenge is that 95% of the population has a small, medium or large wrist, but not a huge wrist. RubberB optimized the second generation so it fits better, particularly on the Submariner and SEA-DWELLER models.

I have review units of the second generation RubberB strap in orange, black and in white, and as soon as I get a chance, I will write a review with pictures as well as creating an installation video. In the meantime, you can check out these images.
I love the orange color, because it give the Rolex sport watches more of an aquatic tool watch vibe. There is something just really kind of preppy, sporty, fun and aquatic about the orange color strap. I know because I have worn my Submariner on an orange NATO strap.

The challenge of course with NATO straps is there is so much extra hardware and nylon, that it looks like a flea-market that blew up. The RubberB on the other hand is super streamlined and clean-cut. Very French and Jacques Cousteau meets SEA-LAB cool.

RUBBER B: The Ultimate Rubber Strap for Rolex

Made In Switzerland

"The first and only rubber strap engineered specifically for Rolex watches!"

It finally happened, or should I say it was finally bound to happen!!!! Finally somebody decided to create a very high quality rubber strap just for Rolex. So if this does not seem like a very-big deal, it is. Why?

There are many, many, many aftermarket straps for that can be used on a Rolex, but virtually none engineered just for Rolex, that is until Rubber B, just introduced their first line of Rubber Straps.

It took Rubber B a year and a half, just to develop and bring these amazing products to market. Before we explore the amazing level of engineering and detail that went into this herculean undertaking, let's examine what makes them look different. It begins with the unique 'T' Shape design where the strap meets the Rolex watch between the lugs. This is a feature that sets Rubber B apart any other bands and makes them instantly recognizable.

First of all RUBBER B straps come in different colors, that allow you to quickly and easily change-up the entire look of your Rolex. In this first shot, we see the dude sporting a white RUBBER , strap with a vintage Pepsi Rolex GMT Master.

In the next image below, we see the RUBBER B, model sporting a modern Supercase Ceramic Rolex GMT on a black RUBBER B, strap. So you would assume that the strap in the photo above and below are the same strap in different colors. Right!?! Nope!!!!

The challenge is that over the years, Rolex has made minute changes to the lug openings on their watches. So RUBBER B, had to figure out how to engineer different straps for different models, so they would fit perfectly. By perfectly filling in the entire lug area, it results in a much more finished, polished, refined, complete look.

The material in the lug area is also structured, so it is reinforced to maintain its EXACT shape, indefinitely. (You can actually see the structural rigidity in the first photo in this story of the blue strap).

As I previously mentioned, Rubber B Straps are unlike any other Rubber strap in the world. To begin with, they are made in Switzerland from special type of rubber known as "Vulcanized Rubber" which consists of a very high-density composite that provides superior resistance to stretching, as well as not being effected by exterior environmental elements such as Ozone, UV, and the aggression of salt-water or an aquatic environment.

One of the design characteristics that sets Rubber B, apart is that it uses the original metal Rolex clasp that came with your watch, as seen below.

RUBBER B
for Last Generation Rolex Submariner

This next set of images shows the RUBBER B strap that was made for the recently discontinued Rolex Submariner.

Rubber B decided to engineer their straps to use the original Rolex clasp that came with the watch, in order to maintain the authentic Rolex look, as well as allowing the user to benefit from the added security of the Rolex triple lock clasp.

The watch in the photo above and in the two photos below is a standard modern Rolex Submariner, with a black Rubber B strap.
In this next image we see how meticulous the design and engineering detail is on the RUBBER B straps. Notice how the RUBBER B strap follows the center link design of the Rolex Oyster bracelet. Also notice how perfectly the end of the strap fits into the original Rolex clasp from the original Rolex bracelet!!!

I imagine that if Rolex ever decided to make their own rubber straps, they could not make them an nicer.

RUBBER B
for Gold Rolex Daytona

This next set of images shows the RUBBER B that is made just for gold Rolex Daytona watches that come from Rolex on a leather strap. In other words, Rolex makes white and yellow gold watches that come with a matching gold Rolex Oyster bracelet, and they also offer a white and yellow gold Daytona that comes on a leather strap.

The Rolex Daytona version that comes on a leather strap has special end caps that fill-in the lug space that would typically be empty. Rolex provides these lug end caps to give the watch a much more finished look. The challenge is that if you own one of these Rolex Daytona watches, you can't find a rubber strap that was specially engineered to fit these watches, until now. The RUBBER B model picture below is specially engineered to perfectly fit.

If you look at the image below and compare it to the image above, both are showing the same white gold Rolex Daytona, with a simple change of the RUBBER B Strap from black to brown.Once again, the photo below is identical to the one above, except the RUBBER B strap has been changed again, from brown to blue.So just to be clear, the watch below is a stainless steel Rolex Daytona, which uses a completely different model of RUBBER B strap, which is specifically engineered to fit it, vs., the white gold Daytona pictured above. Even though they both have the same color blue strap, notice the difference in the shape of the end of the strap where it meets the watch in between the lugs. Obviously, the white gold version above had the end lug feature, and the stainless Daytona, picture below does not.

RUBBER B straps retail for $220, which may seem like a significant investment, and they are. When you think about it, they are actually very inexpensive, because they allow you to completely change the look of your Rolex that costs between $10,000 and $25,000 for only $220. I would say that is a great deal.

That being said, I think the most important detail to be aware of, is not only the amazing engineering and Swiss made quality, but most importantly, the longevity of this product. Since they are made exclusively from Vulcanized Rubber, they are built to last!!! Just like Rolex watches are over-engineered, so are RUBBER B Straps.

I am so excited about this innovative product, and RUBBER B., sent me some rubber straps to photograph and share with you. As soon as I get a chance, I will publish more images, and perhaps a video. That being said, RUBBER B straps are amazing!!!

For more information about RUBBER B you can check out their website, and their amazing selection. I must admit, that I am stunned by how innovative, and well thought out the RUBBER B straps are. I have wondered my whole life why Rolex or another company, never came up with a beautiful solution like this, and it is great to know somebody finally did.

Update: June 27, 2011: My pal Sheldon Smith from Minus4Plus6.com just wrote up a great review of Rubber B, which is great!!!
