Enginseers Chimera

Another blast from the past post tonight.

I built this quite some time ago now (five years or so I think, I can't be bothered going through my old Warseer log to find out).

At the time I was still thinking of doing an Imperial Guard army and I wanted a ride for my Enginseer.

The crane comes from a 1/35 scale kit as do the rear support pieces (though a different kit) as do some of the stowage. You can probably spot the Cities of Death pieces added to the top. It was a nightmare sanding that large AdMech symbol down to fit on top.

Overall I was never that happy with it. I liked the rebuilt hull (inspired by the Trojan shape) but the side skirts didn't look right and the servitor in the back panel didn't work as well as I hoped. I did like the dozer though.

Most of the pieces remained removable for ease
of (someone else's) painting.

I do hope to make another one one day, but a lot better than this one. There a lot of things I would do different which would result in a much better final result. However finding the time to do it will be a problem.

Imperial Guard Command Chimera

I have bascially given up on the 'Friday & Monday From the Archive Posts' as I never seem to get one up on a Monday or Friday.

So I'm just going to post something up when I think of it.

The original plan was to get some pictures of the Poisoned Chalice board up showing the details you haven't seen yet in the previous posts on it, which were really just showing the repair work. However I am sorting some better pictures out first.

So in the meantime here is a quick and easy one.

I built this Command Chimera four years ago now, before I decided to only do CRM. Thus not not after I built it it ended up on eBay.

So the main things that were done to make this Chimera stand out from the regular Chimeras in the force are:
1. Rear door removed and a FW Eagle added.
2. Lasgun ports removed and rear squared off.
3. Stowage and other details added to top.
4. Removeable side skirts added.
5. Predator turret modified with a co-axial Heavy Stubber and removeable HK missile plus comms added.

Quite a simple conversion job and I was quite happy with the end result, though I admit I prefer the CRM Command Chimera I did not too long after this one.

The centre piece, with the hatch, mesh vents etc was added later
as once I had undercoated the tank that area looked too plain.

Another catch up post.

This time the command Chimera for my Chaos Renegade Militia.

At the time the idea of mounting a Predator turret towards the rear of the Chimera was quite novel - I got the idea from the then newly released Apocalypse book (in one picture you can just make one out, just). Since then everyone and their dog has done it...

The main modifications/additions are:

Filling in of rear door.
Detail to top of hull.
Hull top moved back and turret mounted at rear.
Turret is a modified Predator turret changed so it didn't look so obviously a Pred turret and fitted more in the Guard style (rivets...)
Side skirts
New V dozer blade.
Stowage to rear & to the side skirts.

Note: After these pictures were taken more detail was added with more rivets & an old school searchlight. But the pics show well the shape and design of the modified Predator turret.

I went with an Autocannon with pintle Heavy Stubber. As this is a command Chimera I added a couple of aerials along with an Apoc Command gizmo.
