Warhammer Fest 2019

So the weekend gone saw me in Coventry again for Warhammer Fest. For the first time I did both days. Missed out on a number of Seminars but it was still a very enjoyable weekend.

As always I took a load of pictures. All the news is already out there so I won't bother going over things here.

1. Adeptus Titanicus.

New Knight coming soon and new parts for the Questoris Knights. You can also see the new Reaver carapace missile which we saw previewed as a 3D render at the Heresy Weekender.

40K Vigilus Open Day - Part 1

Yesterday I was at the 40K Vigilus Open Day at Warhammer World.

Here is the first picture dump, new things on show...

New Titan...

The upper gun lifts out and the ammo slides out, should make alternative weapon load outs very easy to do.

New Year Open Day 2018

So I was at the New Year Open Day yesterday at Warhammer World. I didn't get as many pictures as normal, I mainly spent my time chatting to the designers, the Specialist Games team and the WHW team.

What pictures I took are below, main purpose of the post is to pass on the bit of info I picked up - and can remember.

Specialist Games:

Adeptus Titanicus:
Release is still on schedule, they have had a date in place for some time now and everything in on course for this. Date wasn’t given (didn’t want to jinx it), but don’t expect anything at the Heresy Weekender – too soon for models to be on show there.

Necromunda:
Hive War II and the Orlock Gang will be out in the next month or two (I can’t remember if he said February or March).

The other gangs will follow in the same vein. Rules and models are done together so that they can feed into each other, i.e. if a sculptor thinks of something that will look great the rules will follow and vice versa. Main reason to not have all gangs in one hit is to allow this to happen and to allow the gangs to be more different with their own character, rules and weapons/equipment etc.

We may get a Necromunda artbook.

More tiles with specific rules (like chance of being shocked or being in the dark). Don’t know on any release for them, there was just the artwork there.

As mentioned before we are getting gangs in the pages of White Dwarf – it’s up to WD team for when things go out but the running order looks to be:
Genestealer Cult.
Chaos gang.
Bounty Hunter gang.

As I wrote after the last event the Chaos gang is based around the cultists in the old box set but with extra’s like a chaos spawn if things go wrong…or right…

The bounty hunters sounded really interesting, with lots of potential. Gang members could include the bounty hunters FW are producing but also people like outcasts from other gangs. They will have access to everything, more expanded list of equipment and weapons. Inq28 was mentioned as the sort of thing you could do with them with people having free reign to come up with members as almost everything will be possible.

Horus Heresy Weekender 2017 - Adeptus Titanicus

Not a lot to report from the Adeptus Titanicus seminar.

However watching the demo game and chatting to Andy Hoare the game looks very entertaining. From what I saw not having a lot of models in a force allows there to be a lot of depth to each Titan.

I won't repeat what I have put up after previous events but I will repeat that the game is Horus Heresy set so only expect Imperial Titans and Knights, no Xenos and no vehicles & infantry, expect to see classes of Titan and Knights we have already seen as models in 28mm and those we haven't yet seen - though we may have heard of them previously in the background material and novels.

The mock up buildings used in the demo games were scaled up versions of those done for the game, so if you look at the pictures below you can get an idea of what they will look like. Expect them to be modular and with plenty of potential.

There looks to be a some great nods going back to the earliest days of the original Adeptus Titanicus, both in the feel of the game and the background material used.

The control panel (can't remember actual name of them) allow you to keep track of everything on your titan. While there is a chance we will get one included with each titan the chances are we'll get a pack of them in the box game and then be able to buy add on packs as you need.

Knight units will tend to be used either as a protective screen (aka cannon fodder) or as fast flankers to peck away at the enemy. While they die easily to ignore them will be a big risk.

I have to say I am really looking forward to the game, even more than I was before (which was a lot)...but the release date could be a year away, though from what was said it is likely to be this year.

Oh the memories...

BEETLEBACKS! Yay.

I remember seeing the Imperial Palace diorama many, many years ago. Possibly the first time I visited Warhammer World when it opened after GW moved the HQ to the current site? The milk bottles were what really stuck in my mind...

New Years Open Day 2017

Fresh back from Warhammer World from the New Year Open Day.

First News...the only info I can at the moment remember...this may be a bit shambolic as I'm just putting down stuff I can remember and hoping it makes sense.

Horus Heresy – Book Seven:

Only asked about availability, Tony Cottrel thinks it is on for the Heresy Weekender, the book is at the printers at all being well the boats packed with black books should arrive back in the UK in time for the first week in Feb and the Horus Heresy Weekender.

Specialist Games – had a chat with Andy Hoare, as always a friendly chap who seems happy to answer what was almost certainly the fiftieth time he had heard the same questions being put to him that day.

Adeptus Titanicus:

Release has been put back. Mix of reasons including GW releasing this may be a very popular choice (really? Who would have thought?). Gives them more time to work on things and allow a bigger initial release with more models etc.

So far the Warlord, Reaver and Questoris Knights have been 3D modelled for the new game. Warhound is currenty being worked on.

A game is expected to be around five titans of any class. You pick a type of Maniple, such as Scout, Assault or Battle and pick accordingly. This means you could have a game of five Warlords v five Warhounds. You then take the difference in the two sides and the weaker side then gets to spend those points on other things, I can’t remember the name now of them – Stratagems? Something like that.

About nine titans a side is about the limit you would reasonably want, unless you have the time spare.

The emphasis of the game is controlling you titans and making decisions such as power levels, ramping up your generator makes you faster, more powerful weapons and shields but has consequences. Your titan has a personality and may not like what you try and do with it. Basically as you get in the novels the Princeps has to keep control over something which may not want to relinquish control. So if you have a bloodthirsty, hunter type titan trying to back away from a fight might not be the easiest thing to do.

Terrain has been done as have Realm of Battle boards which the buildings can fit onto. These are at the factory already so should be ready to go when the game is released.

There is no great desire to redo Epic. While we may get more games at the same scale – such as a massed tank version there is no desire to see a combined titan/tank/infantry battle. Basically they don’t just want 40k at a smaller scale.

There is a chance, though it may be small, we see some of the models at the Heresy Weekender in a month’s time.

Blood Bowl

Season Two book is likely April-ish.

Plastic Ogre player will be out soon. There will also be a plastic Troll. They decided to do these in plastic as they can be taken in so many team.

Elf Union team is being worked on, Nurgle will follow after these hopefully later this year (October?). Also Goblin team in plastic, I think from memory these will come before the Elves. Goblins were a must for plastic as they can be taken on their own as well as being taken as members of other teams.

Expect at least one Star Player to follow with each team, some may get two. The Skaven star player (two heads, four arm guy) will be here soon. Season Two will have a lot of Star Players in there, some known and some who are new.

Neoprene pitches are a go. The human and Orc pitches have been done as the first ones have arrived at GW to look at and test out. Forgot to ask when these are likely to be out.

And on to the pictures.

Legio Custodes Transport (bloody huge) and the lovely Dread, especially the Halberd version:
