Downtown - Homes Converted

The last time I visited downtown area, all of these were homes. they have been remodeled and are now used as commercial buildings.
For other homes in downtown, the label Point Pleasant shows many of the homes. I love to wander the area and think about who lived in these homes and remember the history.

Real Estate Offices

These old homes are perfect for the offices, because they are walking distance to the courthouse and the county and city offices where the records are kept.

Downton Bradenton Palm Trees

Lovely views, and wide brick sidewalks and at 9 am very few people. A few dog walkers.
Temps are perfect for walking about.
Come, stroll with me.
As Yam would say, Less Speak More Peek. The reason there are no white puffy clouds is we continue to be in drought here, it takes moisture to build those gorgeous clouds.

the buildings are condos.

Downtown Bradenton Library

Over the next few days, there will be photos, with very few words.

Shocking? Yes, it IS Me, the MadSnapper, I am NOT a robot.

top photo is the view from inside the ugly library.

As I renewed my library card, I counted 2 people on computers, 1 using a copier and 7 homeless people pretending to read but sleeping, smiled at the Police Officer, on duty in a LIBRARY.

The new Marriott is next door to the library

Mariana Boats are directly across the street from the library, it is several blocks long.

Sunny Skies and a Water Tower

Sunshine Selfies of our Downtown Water tower and tall buildings
We have dozens of these in our county and I have often wondered why, since we have a reservoir to store the water.

The primary function of water towers is to pressurize water for distribution. .  With water towers, our customers are assured of adequate, stable water pressure when they open a faucet, wash clothes, or use water in any other way.
A fun story. Daddy's view from the porch of the nuring home he lived in, was of a tower like this one.
He suffered from Parkinsons and dementia. Each time I went to visit, he would say Hi, how long did it take you to get here? In his head he was still 500 miles away in Savannah, and that was always his question when we went to visit him.
Once morning, we were sitting in the sun on the porch and he pointed at the water tower, and said
"Bradenton! I wonder how they moved that big tower here?" meaning to Savannah.
I said, Daddy it had to be a really hard job to move it that far.

Downtown Marina

Downtown Marina, Where the rich float
on their great big boats.

Where the poor folk walk and enjoy the view
and take photos just for YOU..

This is all part of our City Riverwalk. This is the label for Riverwalk it has 28 posts and a few i forgot to label. It is a 3 mile walk with River views, and fun things to do.
Museums, Restaurants', Skateboard Park, Memorial Park, Benches and swings to rest or meditate.
Also access to beautiful vintage homes in Point Pleasant.
A great place to spend the day.

Downtown Fun @ Pier 22 Marina Restaurant

Our downtown is water front on the Manatee River. It is a marina and a resturant, on the water and accross the street is the library, hotels and our waterfront City Hall.

The marina has locked gates for each of the piers and though we can wander and enjoy and sit on benches, they marked the parking spots Marina only and put up no fishing signs.
People have fished there and parked there my entire life.
I GET it, but I don't like it.

The Restaurant is in the middle of the Marina but is open to the public.
I once had gator tail when our realtor/friend took us out to eat when we bought our house.
that was in 1989, the only other time I ate there was as a guest of the RE Broker I worked for.
She took the realtors that worked for her out for lunch.
That was in 1991.

Wet Spot

Two Photos Taken Two Seconds Apart,
I love both of these; they make me feel happy.
Photos from my Fun visit to the waterfront in Downtown.

I Will be posting a few photos each day this week, from my downtown walkabout 2 weeks ago.

Friday 13th UPDate~
We Woke up to plumber woes when I started to clean the bathrooms. Bob's sink was pouring water down inside the cabinet. Everything in it was wet EXCEPT the Toilet paper.
YAY! I paid $10:97 for 6 rolls! Oy Vey and Yay again.

Bad news is Plumber can't come until Thursday the 19th.
Good News is we keep our money another 4 days.
2 hours to clean the bathroom and The Mess under the sink

During the 2 hours   the mother of all Thunderstorms was booming and flashing and pouring rain.

Good news is the staghorn plant is still in the tree and rain stopped, and the sun came out.
Bad news, behind the rain, the temps started dropping 1 degreee per hour until it was BRR cold.

UP side no snow, bright sun, Bob could work on the pool.
Downside, the pool hose has something stuck in it. Clogged it is.
It got to cold to work which means the hose is still clogged as you read this.

On Thursday we will find out just how bad the Friday the 13th Leak was.
$$$$$$$$$$$???
Also Thursday is supposed to be a warm sunny Florida Day and Bob can curse unstop the hose.

photo taken 2 seconds before the photo at the top. fiddled with it by poking the screen

The Fountain in Downtown

The fountain is in front of City Hall/Police Dept and has a mother Manatee and her baby.
Manatees (family Trichechidae, genus Trichechus) are large, fully aquatic, mostly herbivorous marine mammals sometimes known as sea cows.
They are a common sight in our warm Florida waters.
Our County is named after them.

Big's last ride

The day before Our Big Boy went over the rainbow, we took him on what would be his last ride.
I wanted to take photos of some of the buildings. we were sitting at a traffic light , through the windshield shots.
I will be posting Beau on the Fourpaws36c with stories.
So will be showing mostly photos here, I have 3 post I had created the day before he died.
I love our new Beau, but am still grieving Big Boy, and still bursting into tears. Will try full blogging and see how it goes.
Soon I will find my humor.
