100 years of weddings -1923 to 2023

some of you may remember that in the prior post on sept 22,  I mentioned there was a tri-framed photo in Augusta GA of my grandparents, my parents and my first marriage.
I am thankful today to say, I now have it in my home, thanks to my brother David and his Wife Janice.
It arrived in the mail along with many photos from my childhood yesterday. He found them all in a hat box and a huge old hat box, in his closet and had no idea he had all those photos. When my dad was moved into health care facility down here, he sold Daddys home in Augusta and all contents and put a couple of boxes in his closet, never to look at again.
He was thankful I asked because he spent hours looking through the contents that had been there since Early 2005. They did not remember these framed photos.
I am taking photos of the photos and a few of them MIGHT appear here. I have several of myself and my family in the early 1950's. I thought they were lost.

My mother in 1930, age five. The note says her doll is buried in Gonnie's yard, Gonnie is what I called my grandmother. No idea why it is buried there or anywhere. Wish I knew the story.
Everyone in thee photos is now deceased and has been for many years except the bride in the silly hoop skirt.

Happy Birthday Mother

Queen Elizabeth II, born April 21, 1926  -   Lucille Overby McCall, born September 22, 1926

I sat glued to my television screen at 5 AM Monday, Sept 20. for 7 hours, I watched as The Queen of United Kingdom was laid to rest.

Queen Elizabeth II was born April 21, 1926, and my mother was born, September 22, 1926.

Queen Elizabeth lived to be 96, my mother died at age 63 and would have been 96 today.

The photo above from Life Magazine and from my photos for my mother. They were both 18 years old in these photos today. Both photos were taken in 1943.

My mother and the Queen were born 5 months apart, born to different worlds in the same world.

Born4437 miles, 5552 km, 2997.97 nautical miles apart, 2 sweet baby girls, born into a war-torn world.
One born to wealth and to become a Queen, the other in poverty.

Their personalities were much alike.
A beautiful smile always on their face,
 kindness in their hearts,
caring for others more than themselves.

As I followed the last rites of Queen Elizabeth my mind compared my Mother and Queen Elizabeth II and their lives.
If their birth places had been switched, my mother would have been as grand a Queen as Elizabeth II.

The words are below to Alan Jackson, I want to stroll over Heaven.

Stroll Over Heaven With You by Alan Jackson

If I survey all the good things that come to me from above
If I count all the blessings from the storehouse of love

I'd simply ask for the favor of him beyond mortal king
And I'm sure he would grant it again
I want to stroll over Heaven with you some glad day

When all our troubles and heartaches are vanished away
Then we'll enjoy the beauty where all things are new
I want to stroll over Heaven with you

So many places of beauty we long to see here below
But time and treasures have kept us from making plans as you know

But come the morning of rapture together we'll stand a new
While I stroll over Heaven with you

I want to stroll over Heaven with you some glad day
When all our troubles and heartaches are vanished away
Then we'll enjoy the beauty where all things are new

I want to stroll over Heaven with you
