Repost from July 2, 2010 Wordy Wed

Hi, Blogger Friends, I still have "Better" photos to show you from our Saturday Walkabout. Today we go with Story and Not Purty Photo's

try guessing right now what this is.

Have you guessed yet?

First let me explain the why of this post. I suffer from ICB (insatiable" Curiosity Bump") and have since birth. Th e first thing I think when I see just about anything, is either WHY, WHO, WHEN, HOW. If I were a cat I would find myself way past the allotted "9 Lives".

We came to photograph, trees, beaches and birds (all of which are in abundance at Longboat Pass, Coquina Beach)

We parked the car and the first thing I noticed were the two young men standing on the beach, one held a boom out in the air, the other was fiddling with a contraption in his hand.

"Look, Judy, what do you think they are doing?" "do you think they are taking photos?" "They don't have cameras, but that looks like the thingy they stand behind models" "Quick, let's go sit on the bench and wait and see what happens"

We walk past all this beauty, and sit ourselves down to watch and ponder. (you can guess by now what I was pondering).

We sat and waited for 10 minutes at least and they did nothing. We took a walk down the dunes and the paths, snapping photos of wonder. Worn out after our Back Alley Episode, we head back to the car and There They ARE! Still standing around fiddling.

You can say NO YOU DIDN'T here, since it will be appropriate.

Yes, I DID! I left the path walked over to the two young men and said

"What are you doing? taking photos?"at a nod of yes, I said

"of what and why?"
ONE of them was very nice and answered me, the other one looked at me like I was a crazy old lady off her rocker for asking.

The answer was they were waiting on their models to show up. He said they were shooting an environmental photo for a contest.

Did I say thanks and walk away?

You got it! NO

I said "what kind of photo? I can see you are shooting towards the water and rocks and pier." he politely explained the model would be holding a fishing line with a man on the other end with a hook in his mouth" (say what)

by now I am dying to know if I can see that photo somewhere.

Did I ask? Yes I did. No, I can't it is a private contest.

OH NO! not private! how will I know what happens

All this while Judy patiently waits on the path to the car.

I wish I could end this by telling you The Rest Of The Story, but I just don't KNOW it... boo hoo

July 4th, 2020 year of the Covid-19

Repost from 2013
I am choosing to repost and old 4th of July Celebration because our headlines tell the story of chaos. These two came in my breaking news as I worked on this post.

Department of Homeland Security launches rapid deployment teams to federal monuments over July 4th weekend.......

South Dakota tribal leader joins call to remove Mount Rushmore ahead of Trump visit

NEED I SAY MORE?    Enjoy my blast from the past

I filled the little pot with dirt and stood 2 sparklers in it.... they would NOT catch with a match, no matter how long I held it there or how many I struck.
I come inside and get the propane fire thrower that I use to light candles... OUT OF PROPANE

Bob says, don't you still have the 12 inch matches? Yes, she answers.... I take the box that has been in the kitchen drawer for more than 10 years outside, and they will NOT light on the side of the box.

Bob Says.... I have a lighter in the garage I use to light my torch... I get the lighter..... I walk outside....

I snap the lighter, the flame hits the Old Match, FLARED, Right on my finger.. OUCH! I scream. and another word I will not repeat here.

I left the un-lit sparklers in the pot and went inside. 2 days later I went to the dollar store and bought a propane flame thrower and when I went out the pot was full of water, it rained 2 inches that night.

I threw the wet nasty sparklers in the trash... and finally got ONE to burn... I still have 30 of these nasty dangerous little sparklers and Bob says I can't throw them in the trash..
All this for ONE post.... OY!
I had a little help from PicMoney

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July...

Pool Paramedics Re-Run from 2014

This is a repost from 2014....

I found this Zebra Long Wing butterfly floating in the pool the day after Christmas.

Pointing at the butterfly I said "Bob get that out for me" . he said "why, it’s dead."

"Because I want it"  (can you guess why I wanted it?)

Bob can bend from the waist and scoop it out,  when he touched it it tried to fly, it was so cold, the water is 62 degrees right now. I was screaming IT'S ALIVE...

Bob  sat him gently on the wall in the sun and after about 10 minutes he beat his wings a few times and   lifted up and soared over the pool with me yelling "NO not over the pool",

then he lifted up, up up to the pine tree and we were both saying flap harder. he made it to the needles and sat for a while and flew away.

Below is just a few of the hundreds of drowning swimmers we have pulled from the pool....

beetle, toad, tiny frog, bee, lizard, ring neck snake, tree frog and dragon fly... all of these lived....

this makes both of us officially "POOL PARAMEDICS... "

My Fathers Daughter..

I am my Fathers Daughter... we were 2 peas in a pod, but it took me until after his death to realize it.
Habitual to a fault, resist all change, there is right and wrong, forget the gray. Stubborn, muleheaded, I am Right. Purchase only needs, forget the wants. there is more but this post says a lot about it.

Today I am doing a repost from 2010. Only two of you have seen this post, Ann and Ginny, you might remember this.
Happy Fathers Day Daddy, I AM your daughter, and I know you knew it.

today's PHUN is intended to prove that my fears aforementioned (is that a word) in other posts, are INHERITED and NOT my fault.

My dad always feared someone breaking in the house, since we were dirt poor, he made his own Alarms,   His most famous was as follows:

Place 2 cookie sheets on top of fridge, put several pie tins and assorted lids on the cookie sheets. Tie a string to the bottom cookie sheet and from there to the door knob of the door into the kitchen. Once when we visited I opened the door for testing purposes and the noise was incredible.

My Uncle Jack came over to visit. He decided to leave through the kitchen door. Daddy had NOT deactivated the alarm for the day. As Uncle Jack jerked the door open, daddy was screaming NO JACK! don't open.... well you know what came next. we all nearly expired from laughter when all the pans came down on Uncle Jacks shoulders and head and we were all screaming with laughter.

At age 40 I lived alone in a townhouse.  Upstairs And Downstairs with bedroom UP. My fear was someone would come in the back or front door, or step through one of the floor to ceiling windows, or climb in the window over the sink DOWNSTAIRS and I would not hear them.

Being my fathers daughter, I took glass bottles and lined them up under all the windows under the curtains, and then at night the last thing I did was put several glass bottles in front of each door.

(any one having flashbacks of Conspiracy theory starring Mel Gibson?)
guess where I learned the bottle trick? Dear Daddy, I was shocked Mel knew about it.

When I realized Daddy and I shared the same FEARS of just about everything, I googled Genetics and Fear

AND FOUND VINDICATION....

Traditionally, fear has been thought of as a learned response.  The process is known as conditioning.

"Now we can say that the fear conditioning process in humans is controlled, at least to some extent, by genetic factors," he said.
Between one-third and one-half of the fear conditioning process appears to be inherited, he added.  I found this on  ABC science

I rest my case.......

What Easter Means to Me repost 2011

The Last Supper, Jesus agonizes in the Garden, Judas Betrays Jesus and Peter denies knowing Him.
Jesus is tried, Mocked and dies hanging on the cross

this cross is in a sharp turn in the road and was put their by the homeowner as a warning. This cross made from reflectors and wood, is also reminder to us of the reason for Easter.

He Died for us, He Arose from the Dead and He will Return for us.

1 Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. 2 She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”
3 Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. 4 They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. 6 Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, 7 while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. 8 Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed—9 for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.

USA Memorial Day 2018

REPOST of Memorial Day 2015..

7th Volunteer Company, Union Army Civil War Re-Enactment at our Historical Village Saturday May, 24 2015 by MadSnapper
In 1868 the 30th of May was declared Declaration Day, to honor all the soldiers who died in the War Between The States, known as The Civil War.

750,000 died in that war, the most in any of America's history.  In 1971 the last Monday of May was dedicated as Memorial Day to honor the dead from all wars.
That war is sometimes called the American Apocalypse

Today we honor the fallen

This is a Link to United States military Casualties since The American Revolution, and the numbers are staggering.

And since only the dead have seen the end of war, the numbers continue to climb. God Bless our Soldiers

Say it again, Sam Saturday with MadSnapper # 1

Ann of SnapEditScrap did a post on her 3000th Post this Week. She went back in time. I am a COPYCAT!

I found I am at 3122 post now.
THIS is a repost of my very first post on August 28, 2008. Zero comments... and did not do another post until May 25, 2009.

For many years, God's Creation has inspired me, 5 years ago I bought my first digtal camera (I am now on #3) and that was the beginning of my photography addiction.
It amazes me that a simple flower on a Bannana tree, see to your left, can be so beautiful and awe inspiring.

I now have a new project. Photo's that I turn into cut out art and put Scripture or sayings on them. I named the Creations-Inspiration, because that is what they are, God's creation inspiring me.

Speaking of Pine Cone Redux

Writing about  the falling pine cones in yesterday post, I had a flashback to 5 years ago and my fun with our pine cones.. This is a RePost from 2012

This is my Redneck Fireplace.... Bob has a set of two  of these, they are pots for melting lead.

As you can see if you enlarge the photos, the redneck fireplace is loaded with a pine cone, pine straw and dead leaves and about 20 matches..... you would THINK that many matches would act like kindling wood. NOT!

I was snapping and whining  "it JUST will NOT  burn, all it is doing is smoking.... Stop! you will burn your hand, "I yelled as Bob put more pine straw on it.

Bob kept piling on straw and I kept saying "only the STRAW is burning, I want the cone to burn"

As he huffed and puffed and blew on the straw, it flamed up as I yelled

"be careful, you will catch your beard on fire. besides the ONLY thing burning is the pine straw, I want the pine cone to burn"

I said "stop! I want to burn it! Let me!'
He said " you know you are a pyromaniac"
I said "we already KNEW that!"

Well, we proved pine straw burns... do you think the pine cone will?

to be continued... if you missed the first one click on the pine cone label below the last photo
