Firebug #29

Above is my practice in procreate painting FIRE! I love fire, oil lamps, candles, fire places, matches.
Below is the fire I painted in Procreate in iPad.  with the tip of the digital pen and brushes.
It took about an hour. I must have created a hundred fire that I tapped 2 fingers and started over.

I like it and hope to one day be able to paint fire like these below. Not bad for my first try. Practice makes perfect and this is a safe way to play with fire.
PicMonkey has a dozen fire that someone else painted, and all I have to do is pop them in. Back in 2016 I created the firebug above for this post  HERE  called Fire in the hole. In the post I am creating fire pics with matches.
If you click on  FIRE label, you will find 29 posts with flames.

I am sure some of you wonder why I want to do this, and the answer is because I can, and I want to.
I CAN DO BETTER AND I WILL!

three of  you saw this last week, someone posted two posts in one day. Was not Bob, Was Not Beau

To Smell or Not to Smell

Most of you know I have Scent Sensitivities and if a person with perfume on comes near, or someone lights a scented candle, or a Dumbo waiter has so much cologne on, I have been known to complain. I also complained recently because Dawn has a new scent and blah blah blah.
today I am lodging a new complaint.

The new jar of Vicks Vapor Rub came to my door in the free to me by health insurance order.
The jar it is replacing is about 5 years old. I use it when I have a cough and sometimes on the bottom of my nose to help me breathe when allergies are keeping me awake. This was learned from My dad who was born in 1913.
the NEW Vick's  has no scent! ingredients the same, looks the same, not the same. Since it was generic, I bought the Brand Name Vicks, and it has no scent either.

Yes, there are matches in my AI creations of Vicks Vapor Rub, because I have loved matches my entire life, and learned a use for matches other than fire, again from my dad.
The smell of a match when struck, that delightful to me smell of Sulphur, covers bad odors.
In fact, he kept matches in our bathroom's and for all my decades of life, I too have used matches for odor removal and simply put LOVE the smell.
THEY have removed the smell.
If anyone know where to buy matches that still smoke and stink, please advise.
Yes, these are images from Bing Designer because I rather play with AI than take a photo of the Real Stuff here in my house.

Florida Fireplace

sourced google images

I love Fire! and have always longed for a fireplace. I did have one for about 8 months in a rental home, in 1963.
Fire effects my senses, the smokey smell, crackling, moving flames, glowing light and best of all the heat one side and cold on the other.
I asked Google, why are fireplaces relaxing?
The reason we experience internal relaxation when watching a “normal” fire is, according to the researchers, because our mind is drawn into the flames, and the longer this happens, the more we let go of the jumble of every-day concerns. In this non-distracted, peaceful state, anxieties are naturally reduced.
The sight and sound of the flames can be mesmerizing, helping to quiet the mind and ease tension. In fact, ancient practices of meditation often involve gazing at moving light, specifically firelight. Dancing flames have been shown to quickly allow viewers to enter a trance-like state that relaxes them quickly.

These candles from 2012 were like mini fireplaces. Until my senior memory moments ran rampant and I felt I might forget them and leave them burning at night or going out and leaving precious Beau home alone with fire hazard, the nook was full of candles. At the time of this photo, there were 6 burning in the nook.
In Florida this is a perfect stand in for a fireplace, most of the above-mentioned touching of the senses can be had while starting into the candlelight. Nor removing of ashes or bringing in heavy firewood.

My favorite time of the year is November-May. Brilliant and hot sunshine nearly every day. Cold, not freezing temps and I give to you My Favorite Florida Fireplace. The last 3 days have been 48 at wake up and highs of mid 70's. The house is cold, at 10 am, my fireplace is lit, and I stand with heat warming by back and cold on the front and turn to get heat of the front and cool down the back.

I get the same relaxing feeling and the smokey smell, is Bob's sausage smoking, and one morning the sound of the fire alarm going off as he fried bacon. Seems the central heat kicked on to blow it down the hall. I smiled and said, now we know the fire alarm works.

I feel the warmth and while baking my front side, see gently swaying palm fronds.
Here is the view of my Florida Fireplace that appears to be a sliding glass door facing South in the tropical sunshine casting a glow over my fake Holly.

What could be better?
Beau loves it to, I sit and read, he dozes and sleeps.

A Word To The Wise Part 2

Once upon a time, there was a MadSnapper that loved to play with fire.
While cleaning the kitchen she found a box of long matches that were 20 years old. So old they would not strike and burn but required a much newer match and a lot shorter, to ignite them. MadSnapper feared if she put them in the trash bin, when the garbage gobbling truck picked them up, and squeezed all that garbage they would ignite causing the city garbage truck to burst into flames, thereby killing the driver and the two riding on the back.
In a matter of moments of lunacy, she took a PLASTIC bottle, stood the matches in it and used 6 matches trying to light them. At first it was small, see above photos, then the 20 mph winds that were blowing in the Florida Cool Front, whooshed them into mighty flames.

I was ready with iPhone in hand and grabbed these burst photos, You do not get photos of the mighty flames because I put the phone down and screamed for Bob, who was 6 feet away and did not even notice what I was doing Until I Screamed.
the reason for the scream, was the fact they were in a FLAMMABLE BOTTLE, the fire was raging, the wind was howling, and I was afraid to pick up the bottle, because if I dropped it in the zillion pine needles on the ground it could, well, burn our house down and the neighbors too.
THE MAN, while cursing like a sailor and yelling at me for doing it, grabbed it, dropped it on the grill, and TRYED to Blow it out with his mouth...
OMG! I ran to the small bucket that the faucets drips in and dumped it on the flames and Thank You Lord, the fire went out.
Close but no disaster, NO THANKS TO the Firebug that calls herself MAD snapper.
The Man said WHY DID YOU DO THIS?
When I explained about the fire in the garbage truck, things did not go well.
I think I heard the word Idiot a few times in between HBO words.
The answer is Senior Moment! next time I will use Glass Bottle. KIDDING!
Would you throw old matches in the trash bin?

My 2 Fire Blankets are HERE! Amazon brought next day.I pray I never need them

A Word To The Wise Part 1

Bing AI and I creation

What does the idiom a word to the wise mean? it means, someone is about to give someone advice or a warning.

If you walk into your kitchen and see a grease fire like this, do you know what to do? Stop here and think, what would you do?

I thought I knew. I was wrong! Our Local news channel, took us to visit the practice of our local firefighters demonstrating the proper way to put out a grease fire...

If you pour water on this, it will burn your house down faster!

If you spray it with a fire extinguisher it will burn your house down faster.  MY ANSWER was fire extinguisher. wrong.

THE ANSWER is .....................SMOTHER IT!

IF A GREASE FIRE STARTS:

Cover the flames with a metal lid or cookie sheet. ...

Turn off the heat source.

If it's small and manageable, pour baking soda or salt on it to smother the fire.

As a last resort, spray the fire with a class B dry chemical fire extinguisher.

Do not try to extinguish the fire with water.

If its in the oven, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR! turn off the stove. The oven and the top burners. Be ready with extinguisher if it comes out the top. Turn off the power breaker if you can't unplug the stove.

Turn off the oven and keep the door closed. With no more power or oxygen, the fire should die out. Wait until it does, then open the windows and the over door to let the smoke out slowly.

REMEMBER, WHEN COOKING, STAY IN THE KITCHEN AND STAY ALERT!

The Burning Glove!

Sunday Night, I had a nightmare. I had on red knitted gloves and the one on my right hand was blazing.
I was screaming and watching the glove being eaten by fire from tips of fingers down.
When i screamed myself awake, my hand was hurting so badly, I came awake holding my hand in the air like in my dream but there was NO FIRE.
I waved my burning/aching hand around and got out of bed.
I ran cold water on the part that was a huge blister on my palm, in the dream.
The dream had me on the phone by 8:30 am with my primary doctor's office and after nearly fainting from the shock of hearing the words

The doctor will see you at 10:45.
I said TODAY"???
The sweet young 3-year Resident Doctor that saw me, did a full exam with dozens of questions, including testing for carpal tunnel.
How long have you had the tingling/stinging in your arm and shins?
About a year, but never like this. It has been getting worse the last 3 weeks.
So, tell me what has changed in your life in the past 3 weeks. I see you have stress in your records, has there been more stress?
Aha! Bob's coumadin, so yes.
Have your arms and legs gotten colder in any way?
2nd AHA!
The Air Conditioning is running NONSTOP due to triple digit heat which we have never had before.
The bed is under the vent, the vent blows on my legs and arms, directly. Usually, the AC cuts off and on about 3 times an hour, now it is 3 times in just 30 minutes.
He asked how I sleep, I said with arms and bottom of my legs out from under the sheet, laying on my back like a corpse in a coffin. PLUS, I sit with bare legs out in front of me for 2 hours of movie watching before bedtime. My legs get cold, but it feels to hot if I put a blanket on.
MY RX from him was free and easy... Cover your legs with a t-shirt or something light weight and while sleeping do the same, use light weight cover since you can't move the bed.
IT WORKED! I still have the tingling sensations of neuropathy, the AC was aggravating it.
NO more burning hands OR GLOVES, except in AI of course!

I had a little miscommunication with my BING AI buddy before I got what I wanted.
but wanted you to see all of what I got before the one above.

first command was Red Knitted glove on fire... it gave me what I asked, notice the red knitted glove IS ON the fire, not On Fire. I changed it to glove ON fire.

this command was knitted glove on hands with fingers burning.
It is all in what we ask for and how.

Ghost Rider part 2

If you read yesterday's post, you saw the creation above. In the year 2009, I only had Microsoft Digital 9 to edit and manipulate my photos.

I had learned to create fire in Photoshop with my friend Rich. Together we followed the PS tutorial and created his name in Fire. Rich was in a wheelchair and my best friend could only move his left arm, his hand was frozen, but he could use a roller ball.
He taught me Photoshop for 6 wonderful years.

I stumbled on this old post and reposted it and thought What Can I Ask Microsoft Image Creator to do with fire.
I typed 3 words, no description.

Fiery Ferris wheel!

I loved all four but chose # 2 to take into PicMonkey  my most used edit program.

I first added the Motorcycle from my 2009 creation.

NOT what I wanted.

I searched for Motorcycle's in PM's free stock photos and here you go.

Three more fire photos

If you want to know how far I have gone with Fire, this is my FIRE LABEL.
and there are more that never got put in the label.

Can anyone guess the type movies I like to watch???

as fire as it goes, sometimes I might take things a step to fire!
But then I know that All's Fire in love and war AND blogging!!!!

July 4th, 2020 year of the Covid-19

Repost from 2013
I am choosing to repost and old 4th of July Celebration because our headlines tell the story of chaos. These two came in my breaking news as I worked on this post.

Department of Homeland Security launches rapid deployment teams to federal monuments over July 4th weekend.......

South Dakota tribal leader joins call to remove Mount Rushmore ahead of Trump visit

NEED I SAY MORE?    Enjoy my blast from the past

I filled the little pot with dirt and stood 2 sparklers in it.... they would NOT catch with a match, no matter how long I held it there or how many I struck.
I come inside and get the propane fire thrower that I use to light candles... OUT OF PROPANE

Bob says, don't you still have the 12 inch matches? Yes, she answers.... I take the box that has been in the kitchen drawer for more than 10 years outside, and they will NOT light on the side of the box.

Bob Says.... I have a lighter in the garage I use to light my torch... I get the lighter..... I walk outside....

I snap the lighter, the flame hits the Old Match, FLARED, Right on my finger.. OUCH! I scream. and another word I will not repeat here.

I left the un-lit sparklers in the pot and went inside. 2 days later I went to the dollar store and bought a propane flame thrower and when I went out the pot was full of water, it rained 2 inches that night.

I threw the wet nasty sparklers in the trash... and finally got ONE to burn... I still have 30 of these nasty dangerous little sparklers and Bob says I can't throw them in the trash..
All this for ONE post.... OY!
I had a little help from PicMoney

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July...
