Pajama Party

The theme for this week's Fun Foto Friday is Pajama Party. I was a little hesitant about even posting for this week's FFF because we've actually never had a Pajama Party at our house. Did I even have pictures of the kids in their pajamas? Well, I went through the pictures and I actually had quite a few with the kids in their pajamas. Granted, the pictures aren't actually from 'Pajama Party's', but each person is wearing pajamas in the pictures! That counts, right?

This is our Christmas pictures from 2007. I thought it would be great to have everyone sit near the fire wearing their pajamas. The girls LOVED the idea...the boys - not so much! But they went along with the idea anyways and this was our Christmas Picture of 2007

Ashlan and I struggling to wake up one morning.

Now, the rest of the pictures are from the past. Nothing too recent.

I love this picture of Ashlan. She was days old. She slept in this carriage for the first 6 weeks of her life. I would wheel the carriage all over the house with her in it. I loved it and she just looked precious in it!

This was one of Nick's favorite things to do with Ashlan. He always wanted her to lay on his stomach. He would talk to her, sing to her, love on her.....I loved these moments. To this day, he loves on Ashlan so much. She is blessed to have such an amazing brother who openly loves her!

Ashlan went through quite a long phase where she would always hold her foot when sleeping. SOOOO CUTE!

Having some 'crib time' with best friend, Sydney!

Ashlan's cousin reading to her!

Ashlan playing in the clean laundry!

My sweet little Ashlan eating her breakfast! What a hoot!

A real throw back to the past......

Traci and I in our matching pajamas!

And now for a little game - first one to spot Ashlan wins!

Extermination!

I had quite the encounter this afternoon when I went to move my bag of potting soil away from the side of the house. I'm fairly good about checking under and behind things (especially outdoors) when I move stuff because I'm always running into spiders or geckos. Today was no exception!

This is what was ON my bag of potting soil...

Yes, my friends, you saw that correctly. It's a Black Widow.
I immediately recognized what I was dealing with because I saw the big black body with the red hourglass marking.

With this being my THIRD encounter with a black widow, I decided to use what I have used in the past to kill them. You probably think I'm about to promote some kind of killer bug spray, right? Nope, this is what I use to kill bees, spiders, etc...

And again, my friends, if you have nothing else around - WD-40 WORKS! I don't buy bug/insect spray because my first encounter ever with a bee in the house, all I had spray-wise, was WD-40. It worked. So since then, I have always used it because it's what we've had on-hand.

So the rest of the story is as follows. I sprayed the dickens out of it with WD-40. It died. But I read that if it's a female and you kill her, you need to burn her, as well. She could have babies in her that can potentially survive once mom is killed. I have no clue whether this spider was a male or female but I wasn't taking any chances.

So I left her dead on the concrete until Brent came home. That's when he agreed with me that we needed to set her on fire. Nick volunteered to take charge of the lighter and fry her. I stood back with the camera.

She was already drenched in WD-40, which is flammable, so the flame took off and she melted....along with her babies (if there were any)

And once the job was done, Nick and I posed for a picture. I told Nick we should make mad, angry faces to compliment the act of violence we just completed. This is what you get....

Now, before I close this post, I want to give a shout out to my father-in-law. He highly recommends this spray for any insect/bug/spider...

So I went to Home Depot after this incident today and bought some. I hope it works just as good as the WD-40. I would think it would because it has a picture of this on the front of the spray bottle!

Yep, that's a picture of a black widow.

Crazy for Cats

No, not crazy for HOUSE cats...but crazy for BIG cats!!

Today we visited In-Sync Exotics! It's a home for rescued tigers, lions, and other wild cats. It was a fun place to take the children and even better, it's close! It only took us 15 minutes to get there!

Here are some pictures from our visit....

Hop Chalk

No, I didn't forget about yesterday's Fun Foto Friday. The theme was 'Your one favorite photo'. Well, that photo that I love so much happens to be on Brent's computer and I couldn't get it to attach to the blog. That's why I didn't post on yesterday's FFF.

Although, I do have pictures to share with you today. It's partly cloudy outside which means it's perfect to play outside. With no sun beating down on us, we can stay outside for longer without dripping from sweat.

The girls wanted to play some Hop Scotch or as Ashlan calls it, 'Hop Chalk'. So we got out the sidewalk chalk and starting playing Hop Chalk.

Once the girls saw me with the camera, they decided to go 'crazy for the camera'.

I love my girls!!!

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - FUN IN THE SUN

Well, this is a fun theme! Living in Texas, almost ALL our pictures deal with Fun in the Sun! And of course, once I started going through our thousands of pictures, most of the fun in the sun ones were of the kids in the water! And if you ask my kids what is the most fun thing to do while out in the sun, they'll most likely replay, 'swimming!'
We always look forward to the Spring and Summer months! Lots of outdoor play, bike rides, swimming, creek stomping, etc!
Enjoy the few pictures below of our way of having FUN IN THE SUN!

MY THREE 'FISH' (always in the water)

Now I'm going to throw in some pictures from the past! I love looking back at pictures of the kids years ago. It just makes you realize how precious time is!
