Lockdown Day 90

Hi!

It's been a bit of a mixed batch today. First up, there's the last of my Pirate Lance for my SD Battletech project:

Pirate Spider Mech

I've had him base coated for a little while now and have put off finishing him for various reasons (mostly due to the teeny infantry fiasco!) but finally sat down and got him finished last night.

I tried to give him a more dynamic pose and rather enjoyed adding all his jump jet gubbins too. Here's a pic of him with the rest of his lance:

 Panther, Spider, Jenner, Javelin

Here's the full force in action with Red's Marauders up against Wilson's Hussars!

Mech on Mech!

Speaking of Battletech, I managed to play another game and post a quick report over on TALES FROM THE INNER SPHERE which saw one of Wilson's Mercs tangle with an unknown opponent and will be the first of a series of games I hope to play out in the coming week.

Finally, here's a quick peek at the first of my cultists:

Pud Is Good!

They're a bit rough as it's been a while since I've worked in 15mm scale but should do the job. I've still got a bit of work to do with them such as the guns needing detailing and lots of little details but even if they turn out blobby, I'm not too bothered as they are masked goons so having them perfectly proportioned doesn't matter.

I think I'm going to have to get some serious sculpting practice in for 15mm scale as working in different scales requires different techniques so I shall use this project as an opportunity to get some practice and try and get some more finesse for working with smaller figures.

I'll see what I can get finished tomorrow and post up my progress as always but in the meantime, All the best!

Lockdown Day 89: The Pudding Cult Project

Hi!

In order to get back into some 15mm scale sci-fi, I have set myself a bit of a monthly challenge to come up with a theme for a small skirmish force and then build and paint it over the course of the month.

After a bit of thought, I settled on Cultist as the theme as there's always need for some sinister cult for Imperials to squash or Dark Legion infiltrators for the Brotherhood Inquisitors to track down. Similarly there's plenty of games that needs some generic villains for the heroes to battle.

There's also the Red Redemption of Necromunda, fanatical followers of The Emperor and keen to set fire to any heretics they encounter.

A while back I also built a Pudding Cult temple:

This got me to thinking about using July's theme to create some crazies to inhabit it, be they sinister alien controlled, or simply mentalists.

I've had a bit of a rummage and found that I do still have a handful of the Alternative Armies cultists awaiting paint and I've begun work on sculpting a bunch more so I should have a decent number ready for July and the challenge!

I plan on getting the sculpts ready now and painting them up in July as well as looking through my toy car collection for some suitable sinister limousines to transport them around in. I've also got some ideas for some Pudding cult fatties and a floating lectern for the cult leaders to whip their followers into a frenzy of pudding related madness.

I'll get a pic of the first sculpts posted up tomorrow as well as the conversions I've done to the Alternative Armies sculpts too as I wasn't entirely happy with how they looked so have played around with them a bit.

I'm still trying to finalise my fantasy stuff but should have an update in my next post as well as my completed pirate lance for my SD Battletech project but in the meantime, All the best!

Space Pudding Cultist Temple

Hi!

I'm about to flit off on a weeks much needed holidays but have managed to finish the newest addition to my terrain collection, the Pudding Cultist Temple!

The Space Pudding Temple in all it's glory with Brother Maynard, resident loon.

Constructed from a hexagonal box from Hobbycraft, a loo roll tube and lots of bits of cardboard, plastic and grease proof paper, the temple makes an interesting addition to my collection. Be it a simple objective in a game or source of a sinister cult of brain eating space monsters, I've wanted to build one for a while!

I wanted to have a suitably grubby and somewhat dilapidated building in keeping with the rest of my collection but wanted to brighten it up a bit so settled on turquoise for the frontage. I then got the suggestion of adding pink details to it by my wife and think the combination looks pretty decent!

 The Pud Is Good!

I went to town on adding lots of hand written signs on the entryway, be they prayers from supplicants, or advertising slogans written by the cult leader, they added a bit of interest to the building and helped add to the somewhat demented ramblings of a cult of Space Pudding worshippers!

The posters are made from greaseproof paper with a wash of brown paint to give them a more parchment style of finish and they look the business too with lots of pudding related commandments and ravings.

Puds for the Pud God! Puddings for the Pudding Throne!

It took me quite a long time to construct and even longer to paint but I am really pleased with the finish and can't help but feel that it will be the focus for several campaigns in the future. Now all I need to do is paint up some suitably masked goons to act as cult members (I have quite a few ideas for this but more on them later!).

 Spycam view

There's enough space on the roof to land a small VTOL or add barricades for when the unbelievers need to be roughed up a bit too.

As I mentioned, I am about to head off on holiday so won't be able to do any more hobby related gubbins till I get back but think my next update will probably be some much needed figures as I an becoming obsessed with making terrain to the detriment of my leadpile!

Creepy Bag Lady inspects the signage, maybe Mr Tinkles would like to join...

Hopefully I will return from said holidays brimming with energy and raring to go on the further investigations into 15mm goodies and my reimagined Imperium setting but in the meantime, All the best!

All Hail the Space Pudding!

Hi!

Well I had a bit of a mental session yesterday and decided to add a Space Pudding cult leader to my collection.

Looking through my bits box, I found a robed Retained Knight from the Ion age and set to work with clippers and greenstuff and the final result is Father Johann, High Priest of the Space Pudding, wielder of the spoon of destiny and possible xenos host:

 Father Johann: Loon

I'm quite pleased with how he turned out! Yes his head is a bit on the big side but I'm quite pleased with the mystical robes, pudding bowl hat and mighty spoon which Father Johann puts to good use against the unbelievers!

He will make a good addition to the dramatis personae of Farpoint as a rabble rouser, possible alien threat or objective for scenarios which require his capture for interrogation or assassinations!

I also managed to finish a small Xenos fellow who's been sat based and unloved for some time now:

 Alien Minion

He painted up surprisingly well considering how poor the sculpt was and he makes a decent addition to my band of villains and renegades:

Outlaw Scum

I'm now half way through my holidays and do think I have made some real progress on my unpainted lead and am hankering after playing some small games in the not too distant future but to spice things up, I think I'm going to paint some Epic gubbins next to keep me interested and avoid the dreaded burn out!

All the best!
