Cyclops for Of Gods and Mortals

I wanted a cyclops for my OGAM games. After all, nothing says Greek myth quite like an oversized mono-eyed bloke.

I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for though I was quite tempted to follow James' lead and use the very nice ones from Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago however I was in the process of buying some other Greek myth figures from Mighty Lancer games (of which more to follow) when I searched (not for the first time) in the Reaper Bones range and turned up this chap.

Lovely model - slightly cartoony perhaps, but I like him that way and an absolute bargain for four quid.

Painted almost entirely with contrast paints, so he was also super quick to do.

Frostgrave Ice Spiders

A couple of Reaper Bones spiders given the quick and dirty Contrast paint treatment for games of Frostgrave

Reaper Bones Brass Bull

Another for the OGAM menagerie - a Brass Bull from Reaper.
Bones makes these sorts of big beasties very affordable and this was very quick and easy to paint up.

The camera seems to have made the steel hooves and horns look far duller than they really are.

Frostgrave mixture

Post WW1 exploits I needed a change and so I've dug out some part finished Frostgrave soldiers and ordered a couple more monsters.

 The gang's here!

The metal dog from the tracker and dog pack, you can see the tracker here.
The three soldiers are all from the plastic Frostgrave set.

 Golem

 Werewolf!

Both monsters are Reaper Bones figures and both are really lovely models that were a joy to paint.
The Golem is a simple wash and drybrush job, but that's exactly what the model needs.
I'm now tempted to get some more to do in different colors - I think a jade one would look great.
The werewolf looks a bit orange in the picture, but he isn't so bad in real life.

A few more shots of the individual soldiers now follow.

Reaper Bones Spider for Frostgrave

A quick and dirty paint job for another Reaper model for the Frozen city.

Might actually have to get a game in at some point...

Amazingly this is post no. 666  - the Post of the Beast!

Reaper Bones Centaurs for OGAM

Another pair of Centaurs for Of Gods and Mortals.

Really didn't enjoy painting these so just glad to get them out of the way.

Reaper Bones Animals for Frostgrave

I painted some critters for my Frostgrave games. They're Reaper Bones models.
Not the nicest or most detailed, but cheap and quick and easy to paint up

A bear, a wolf and a snow leopard. They're a bit on the small side and my ham fistedness around the noses makes them look a little cute rather than threatening, but for quick and dirty Frostgrave solutions they're fine.

Reaper Bones Centaurs for OGAM

Bjorn and Benny the centaurs join the growing pile of Greek mythical creatures for games of Of Gods and Mortals.

I didn't like painting these models to be honest.
They're in that D&D/American High Fantasy style and they're a bit fiddly and I don't think the Bones material does them any favours - I suspect they're nicer in metal. There's also a few hard to remove mold lines.
But they were reasonably priced and they're finished.
I cut away the bendy spears they were supplied with and replaced with Northstar wire ones. I did also have to straighten them both up, though one of them has leaned back a bit even after the remedial work.

Reaper Bones Minotaur for OGAM

Another splendid (and cheap) Reaper Bones model for games of Of Gods and Mortals.
Whilst I realise he's a more GW/D&D Minotaur than a classical Greek one I think it's a splendid, dynamic model and I just had to have him in the army.

Paints up well too.
Another addition to my Spartan OGAM faction (hence the red loincloth).

Reaper Bones Ice Troll for Frostgrave

Picked this beauty up quite a while ago and he's been sat half-finished on my painting table for a while.

Lovely model, easy to paint up.
Still needs a little snow on the base but other than that he's ready to go and munch on some adventurers.
Now I just need to actually play a few more Frostgrave games.
