Burst Mode (バーストモード Baasuto Moodo) is activated by the power of human emotion. Burst Mode grants to certain Digimon power that exceed the Ultimate level.
Overview[edit]
In 2005 studies on Digimon DNA, "Digital Nature Ability" elemental data that exist in the Digital World representing the 8 attributes, began and with Digimon Accel it was possible to use Human DNA to evolve Digimon releasing a new "Super Evolution". In 2006 the power that exists beyond "Ultimates" known as "Burst Mode" was discovered, but such power was considered risky and was in research. And then in 2007 a new device was released, the two types of hardware that are paired to interfere with Digimon, the Digimon Twin.

Appearances[edit]
Anime[edit]
Digimon Savers[edit]
Burst Mode is considered a power that exceeds the Ultimate Level, obtained through the use of a polished Digisoul alongside the Digivice Burst. However, triggering it with negative effects could cause dangerous results, making it hard to use. In the past, Daimon Suguru could evolve his partner, Bancho Leomon, into his own Burst Mode. In the present, his son, Daimon Masaru, is the first to accomplish it, although through anger at Thoma H. Norstein's supposed betrayal, causing Shine Greymon to become Ruin Mode instead, then revert to a Digitama[1].
After his rebirth, Shine Greymon properly obtains Burst Mode during the fight against Kurata Akihiro, who had fused with Belphemon[2]. Following that, Thoma's partner, Mirage Gaogamon, obtains his own Burst Mode to fight Lord Knightmon[3]. Afterwards, Fujieda Yoshino and Noguchi Ikuto's partners, Rosemon and Ravmon, obtained their own Burst Modes together to fight Duftmon[4].
During the final fight against Yggdrasill, Agumon obtained a separate Burst Mode without first becoming Shine Greymon[5].
Digimon Savers The Movie: Ultimate Power! Activate Burst Mode!![edit]
The first on-screen appearance of Burst Mode happened in this movie, with Daimon Masaru and Shine Greymon obtaining Burst Mode to fight against Algomon Ultimate.
Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time[edit]
Daimon Masaru first appears on top of Agumon: Burst Mode during the fight against the Venom Vamdemon and Belial Vamdemon created by Quartzmon. The latter later evolves into Shine Greymon: Burst Mode, following Dukemon taking his own Crimson Mode[6].
Games[edit]
Digimon Masters[edit]
In Digimon Masters, Burst Mode is a level beyond Ultimate. Unlike the rest of the franchise, it isn't exclusive to Burst Mode versions of Ultimate-level Digimon, although the four from Digimon Savers do appear in it as such, and it can have any Digimon that would be considered an Ultimate level otherwise. Special items are required to obtain Burst Mode.
Virtual Pets[edit]
Digivice Burst[edit]
"Burst Evolution" is a feature present in this device, making reference to the energy used to access Burst Mode, Digisoul. Every Digimon can use Burst Evolution, and Digimon that are Child stage or above, both those raisable and encountered in enemy battles, are able to activate the "aura" of Burst Evolution. The aura temporarily increases the attack power of the Digimon, while Burst Evolution causes the Digimon to temporarily reach higher evolution stages. This feature is similar to the "Blast Evolution" found in the Digimon Accel.
Three Digimon with the Burst Mode, Shine Greymon: Burst Mode, Mirage Gaogamon: Burst Mode, and Ravmon: Burst Mode are all available for raising on this device, but are accessible only through Burst Evolution (alongside Lucemon: Satan Mode and others). They can access the Burst "aura" available to all other Digimon.
Vital Bracelet BE[edit]
Digital Monster COLOR Digimon Xros Wars 15th Edition[edit]
Armamon: Burst Mode appears as a Mode Change for Armamon, accessible only in battle.
TCG[edit]
Digimon Card Game[edit]
Burst Mode cards are considered Level 7 in the Digimon Card Game, above Ultimate/Level 6. Some Burst Mode Digimon have the Burst Evolution keyword, which allows them to evolve from their non-Burst Mode forms at no cost by returning their specific Tamer from Digimon Savers to the hand. However, the Burst Mode must be trashed at the end of the turn, returning to its previous stage.
