⇨ Japanese
An Ankylosaur Digimon with a rhinoceros-like horn growing on its snout. When its huge horn grows, it reaches a size that makes up half of its body length. The hard substance covering a portion of its horn and half its body is as hard as diamond, and it is said that there is nothing it cannot penetrate with its horn. Monochromon can be said to be a Digimon that excels in both offense and defense. It is herbivorous and has a relatively docile personality, but once it is angered, it will unleash terrifying counterattacks with its heavy tank-like body. Its Special Move is a powerful flame shot (Volcano Strike).

Digimon World[edit]

Monochromon appears as an obtainable Adult-level Data type Digimon.

At the entrance of the Great Canyon the Player will see the Monochrome Shop, a convenience store managed by a Monochromon that sells Meat, Portable Potties and Medicine. Monochromon will hire the Player as a test and see if it's worth joining the Village of Beginnings. So, the player has to sell the aforementioned 3 items to various Digimon, which they include Goburimon, Gottsumon, Zassoumon and Muchomon. The Player needs to earn a total profit of 3,000 BITs in order to have Monochromon join, and to do so, the Player has to negotiate to the client Digimon: if the price is too high, the Digimon won't end up buying anything and if the price is too low, the Player won't be making any profit.

After Monochromon is recruited, it will join alongside Unimon, Patamon and Piyomon in the Item Shop. If Monochromon is the third Digimon of the aforementioned ones to be recruited, a Card Machine will appear, and if Monochromon was the first Digimon to be recruited, it'll build the Item Shop instead. When the Secret Item Shop has been unlocked, Monochromon's schedule will coincide to that of Devimon's, working from evening to early morning.

Another Monochromon NPC is found in the Glacial Time Zone, where it will talk about another Monochromon working in the Great Canyon.

Digimon Adventure[edit]

Monochromon is a random enemy Digimon that appears starting from Episode 3, "The Blue Wolf! Garurumon". It can inflict Shock to one party Digimon with Guardy Tusk or inflict a great amount of damage with Volcano Strike. Monochromon is significantly stronger than any other random encounter so early in the game, but it is also non-aggressive in the overworld and won't chase the player.

A stronger version known as Monochromon ★ appears as the second fight in the DigiOne Grand Prix in Sub-Episode 10, "DigiOne Grand Prix", alongside a Drimogemon and a Shellmon ★. Apart from Guardy Tusk and Volcano Strike, it can inflict multiple hits to one Digimon with Grand Fire.

Monochromon ★ appear as random enemies starting from Episode 24, "Perfect Evolution! Metal Greymon".

Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode[edit]

After Tyranomon mails Taiga, the latter decides to search for the former. However, the Train Garage where it is was behind a massive rock. While checking it, a Monochromon, playing that it was a train, suddenly rushed at Digimaru, though Digimaru dodged it so it hit the rock instead, much to its surprise. It then introduced itself and explained it liked to run and pretend it was a train, so it shouted so it wouldn't run into others. It then went into the Train Garage, taking it as a new area it could play in.

Later, Monochromon mails Taiga to ask him to play hide-and-seek with it in the Train Garage. It gives Taiga a Super Carrot for finding it then leaves. This can then be repeated for further Super Carrots.

Monochromon is an unobtainable Digimon.
