Large Granny Square Circle

Ik ben bezig met een grote granny square cirkel. Ik haakte er eerder al een en als deze af is ga ik ze aan elkaar naaien en dan wordt het een hele grote poef. Het is een leuk project en net weer even anders dan de vorige poef die ik haakte. Tijdens het haken hoef ik niet de hele tijd te kijken wat ik doe en dat is fijn. Ik gebruik gewoon restjes garen, alhoewel de cirkel natuurlijk steeds groter wordt en dan zijn echt piepkleine restjes niet meer geschikt. Maar ik haak zo wel fijn een deel van mijn voorraad weg. Alhoewel.. het einde van die voorraad is gelukkig nog lang niet in zicht. Ik wens je een fijne zondag! Update: het patroon is inmiddels hier beschikbaar in het Engels, de Nederlandse versie volgt nog.

I'm working on a large granny square circle. I crocheted one before and when this one is finished I'm going to sew them together and then it will be a very big pouf. It is a fun project and it's different from the previous pouf I made. While crocheting I don't have to watch what I'm doing all the time and that's nice. I just use scraps of yarn, although of course the circle gets bigger and bigger and then really tiny scraps are no longer suitable. But while using these scraps my yarn stash is getting smaller. Although... fortunately the end of that yarn stash is nowhere in sight. I wish you a nice Sunday! Update: the pattern is available here!

New pouf

Ik heb een nieuwe poef gehaakt voor in ons huis. Het leek me leuk om eens iets anders te proberen qua kleur, maar ook qua materiaal. Ik had namelijk al heel lang een grijze staan, gemaakt met Rico Fashion Summer garen. En dus kocht ik Lana Grossa Mille II en ik ben aan de slag gegaan. Het materiaal is erg mooi en je hebt maar zes bollen nodig. Ik had er tien besteld, want ik had geen idee hoeveel ik nodig zou hebben, dus ik heb nu vier bollen over. Daar ga ik wel weer wat leuks voor verzinnen.
Vind je dit een leuk patroon? Het is hier op LoveCrafts. De poef is trouwens ongeveer 60/65 cm breed.

I made a new pouf for our home. As I had a grey one made with Rico Fashion Summer yarn for a long time, I wanted to try something else. So different materials and a different color. So I bought Lana Grossa Mille II and I started working on the pattern. The material is really pretty and you only need 6 balls. I ordered ten because I didn't know how much I needed, so now I have four balls left. I will find a new project for that for sure.

Crochet Pouf with Rico Fashion Summer Yarn

Toen ik de vraag kreeg of ik een keer met een ander materiaal dan Zpagetti een poef wilde mak
en hoefde ik niet lang na te denken. Eigenlijk greep ik altijd uit gewoonte naar Zpagetti, en dat is natuurlijk ook een prima garen voor zoiets. Maar zou er ook een ander garen zijn wat net zo fijn haakt? Of misschien nog wel fijner? Ik kreeg het pakketje met 10 bollen Rico Fashion Summer Yarn thuis gestuurd, en toen ik het van de deurmat haalde kon ik niet geloven dat ik hier een poef van zou kunnen maken. Het woog namelijk zo licht, dat kon haast niet kloppen. Normaal gesproken is een poef haken best hard werken. Het garen is vaak vrij zwaar en soms ook best een beetje stug. Dus vol enthousiasme, maar ook met enige twijfel, begon ik met dit nieuwe garen aan de poef. En ik kan echt niet anders zeggen: het haken met Rico Fashion Summer Yarn ging geweldig. Ik gebruikte een haaknaald 8mm. Dat is iets kleiner dan wat ik normaal gebruik voor een poef en daardoor duurde het iets langer. Ook moest ik het patroon aanpassen maar dat was helemaal niet erg. Het haken ging namelijk zo soepel dat ik er van begin tot eind plezier aan heb gehad. En meestal was ik toch wel blij als een poef af was, want dan had ik pijn in mijn schouders en armen. Dat was nu niet zo. Natuurlijk legde ik het ook af en toe aan de kant en heb ik het niet aan een stuk gehaakt, maar alles bij elkaar ben ik echt super tevreden over dit garen en het resultaat. Ondanks dat het iets dunner is dan ander t-shirt-garen is het resultaat heel erg mooi. Kortom: wil je deze winter een poef haken of heb je het nooit aangedurfd omdat het zo zwaar is? Met dit garen vind je het misschien wel leuk. Het patroon van de poef op de foto kun je hier bestellen, een kleinere variant op dat patroon met hetzelfde garen hier. Het garen kun je in print krijgen (klik hier), maar ook in gewone basiskleuren zonder print (klik hier). Overigens zijn de verzendkosten naar Nederland helemaal niet zo hoog: 7,25 euro. En bestel je voor meer dan 50 euro, dan betaal je helemaal geen verzendkosten. Ik maakte trouwens nog een andere poef van ander materiaal waar ik ook heel blij van werd. When I was asked if I wanted to make a pouf with other material then Hoooked Zpagetti I didn't have to think long. It was always some sort of automatism to grab Zpagetti if I wanted to make a pouf, because it is just a good yarn for a project like that. But would there be another yarn that's just as nice? Or maybe nicer? I received a package with 10 balls of Rico Fashion Summer Yarn and when I picked it up from the door mat I couldn't believe that I was able to make a pouf of that. It weighed almost nothing, this couldn't be right. When I make a pouf, it's always hard work. The yarn is heavy and sometimes a bit stiff. So I started working with this new yarn very enthusiastic, but also slightly doubtful. But all I can say is: working with Rico Fashion Summer Yarn was absolutely great. I used a crochet hook size 8mm. That's a little smaller then what I usually use for a pouf and that's why it took a bit longer. I also had to adjust the pattern but I really didn't mind. Making this pouf was so easy that it was fun to do from the beginning until the end. When I worked with other yarns, I was always happy when I was finished, because my arms and shoulders would hurt. That wasn't the case at all this time. Ofcourse I've put it all aside every once in a while, but still I am totally satisfied about this yarn and the result. Despite the fact that this yarn is thinner then other t-shirt yarns the result is lovely. So: do you want to make yourself a pouf this winter and have you never tried because it is so heavy? Flower Pouf

Ik had al een hele tijd deze knalroze kleur Zpagetti in de kast staan. Ineens bedacht ik me dat het een geweldige kleur voor een poef is. Daarom ben ik aan de slag gegaan. Om er eens iets anders van te maken heb ik er gehaakte bloemen op genaaid. Daarvoor gebruikte ik hele zachte Zpagetti, waardoor je de bloemen nauwelijks voelt als je op de poef zit. Ik vind 'm zelf heel vrolijk geworden. Nu nog een mooi plekje vinden. Het patroon vind je in mijn Etsy-shop.

I had this hot pink Zpagetti colour in my closet for some time now. All of a sudden I decided that it's a great colour for a pouf. So I started working on it. To make it a bit different I decided to crochet flowers onto it. I used Zpagetti that's really soft, so you barely feel the flowers when you sit on the pouf. I think it turned out pretty sweet. Now all I need to do is find a good spot for it. The pattern is available in my Etsy-shop.

Monday Pattern Day: Pouf!

Afgelopen zaterdag heb ik mijn eerste workshop Poef Haken gegeven. Speciaal daarvoor heb ik een poef ontworpen. Het resultaat zie je op de foto. Het haken met Hoooked Zpagetti is me weer goed bevallen. Het was al een tijdje geleden dat ik er iets mee deed, maar door deze workshop ben ik weer helemaal aangestoken. Ik heb weer wat nieuwe ideetjes in mijn hoofd, nu alleen nog de tijd vinden om ze uit te voeren. Het patroon van de poef kun je trouwens in mijn Etsy-shop vinden.

Last Saturday I gave my first workshop Crocheting a Pouf. Especially for that workshop I designed a pouf. You can see the result on the picture above. I really liked working with Hoooked Zpagetti (a Dutch t-shirt yarn brand) again. It had been some time since I used it, but due to this workshop I'm an addict again. I have a few new ideas in my head, now I need to find the time to work on them. By the way, the pattern of this pouf is available in my Etsy-shop. 

Monday Pattern Day: Frog Footstool!

Als je van kikkers houdt vind je deze poef vast geweldig. Je kunt 'm maken van Zpagetti. Het Nederlandse patroon van de kikkerpoef was ooit beschikbaar op de site van het tijdschrift OOK, maar helaas is het daar niet meer te vinden. Het patroon heb ik destijds (met toestemming) in het Engels vertaald, dus dat tref je hieronder aan. Het patroon is geschreven in US terminologie.

If you love frogs you probably love this footstool. You can make him from Zpagetti. The Dutch pattern of the Frog Footstool was once on the website of the magazine OOK, but it has been removed unfortunately. I've translated the pattern into English some time ago (I got permission for that). You will find it below. The pattern is written in US terms.


What you need to make this footstool

Lots of green t-shirt yarn.

A little piece of black t-shirt yarn.

A little piece of red t-shirt yarn or fabric.

A crochet hook that's suitable for the t-shirt yarn.

Filling.

The top of the footstool

1. Make a magic ring.

2. Chain 2, 11 DC. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.

3. Now close the ring by pulling the thread that’s hanging loose in the middle.

4. 2DC in every stitch. (24)

5. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.

6. **1DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next stitch.** Repeat around. (36)

7. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.

8. **1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next stitch.** Repeat around.  (48)

9.  Close the ring of DC with a SLST.

10. **1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next  stitch.** Repeat around. (60)

11.Close the ring of DC with a SLST.

12. **1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next stitch.** Repeat around. (72)

13. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.

14– 22. 72DC around. After every ring of DC, close with a SLST.

23. **5DC, DEC.** Repeat around. (60)

Fasten off.

The bottom

Repeat rows 1-10 of the top of the footstool (so until you've reached 60 stitches around).

Fasten off.

How to assemble

 Fill the footstool with an old blanket for example. It’s best to cover it in a t-shirt (or another piece of fabric) that has the same colour as the t-shirt yarn.

Sew or crochet both halves together.

Legs (make 4)

1. Chain 4. SC1 in second stitch from hook. SC1, SC1. (3)
2. 2SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 2SC.
3. 3SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 3SC.
4. 4SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 4SC.
5. 5SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 5SC.
6. 6SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 6SC.
7. 7SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 7SC.
8. 8SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 8SC.
9. Fasten off.

Place 1 leg on top of the other and SC around. If you like, you can fill the legs to make them a bit more solid. Now sew the legs to the bottom of the footstool.

Eyes (make 2)

1. Make a magic ring.

2. Chain 2, 11 DC. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.

3. Now close the ring by pulling the thread that’s hanging loose in the middle.

4. 2DC in every stitch. (24)

5. DEC by crocheting every two stitches together. (12)
Put filling in the eye and close it. Make eyeballs with black t-shirt yarn or fabric

and use red t-shirt yarn or fabric to make the mouth.

Fun!

Deze poefs kwam ik onlangs tegen in een meubelzaak. Ik vond ze ontzettend leuk en dacht dat ze heel zacht zouden zijn want zo zien ze er wel uit. Maar toen ik ze probeerde te verplaatsen voor de foto kwam ik er achter dat ze helemaal niet zacht zijn. Ze zijn best hard en je kunt er heel goed op zitten zonder half op de grond te eindigen (-: Ik weet bijna zeker dat ze gebreid zijn en het lijkt zelfs een beetje op dit patroon wat ik ooit uit probeerde. Dat patroon was heel makkelijk dus voor wie nog een leuke poef zoekt, het is zeker het proberen waard. Hier is trouwens een haakpatroon van een poef van dezelfde site.

I saw these footstools just recently in a furniture shop. I like them very much and I thought they were very soft because they look very soft. But when I tried to move them for the picture I found out they weren't soft at all. They are quiet hard and you can sit on them pretty comfortable without ending up on the floor (-: I'm pretty sure they are knitted and they even look a bit like this pattern that I tried once. That pattern was really easy, so if anyone is looking for an easy knitted footstool they should really give that pattern a try. By the way, here's a crochet pattern of a footstool from the same website.

Toen ik deze poef zag wist ik het: dit wil ik echt heel graag maken! Is 'ie niet extreem gaaf? De poef hierboven is gehaakt en de poef hieronder is gebreid. Je kunt een compleet pakket in deze webwinkel kopen waar alles in zit om de poef te breien of te haken. Er zijn drie verschillende kleuren te krijgen en je haakt of breit met naalddikte 12mm of 15mm (afhankelijk van de kleur). Het patroon is er alleen in het Nederlands, maar op verzoek kan het eventueel vertaald worden in het Engels. Neem dan hier even contact op met Jantine van Knutseltasjes. Het patroon kan trouwens alleen in combinatie met het pakket verkregen worden. De wol wordt ook los verkocht. Streepjes!

Bij het zien van deze gehaakte tas van Drops besloot ik de bovenstaande poef te maken. Het is geen hele grote poef, maar heeft meer het formaat van een meditatiekussen.

Wit!

Vanavond heb ik een poef afgemaakt die al langer gepland stond. Dit keer eens geen (grotendeels) zwarte poef, maar een witte met een gestreepte bovenkant. Ik haakte de poef met Hoooked Zpagetti.

Tonight I made a pouf that I had planned to make some time ago. This time a black and white pouf with a stripe on top. I made this pouf with Hoooked Zpagetti.

Christien Meindertsma

Inmiddels kent bijna iedereen 'm denk ik wel. De poef van Christien Meindertsma die gek genoeg nog niet op deze blog heeft gestaan. Daarom nog even voor de enkeling die 'm gemist had. De poef is er in drie maten. Elke poef wordt gebreid van de wol van één schaap en aan elke poef hangt een kaartje met informatie over het schaap waar de wol van afkomstig is.
Overigens was een vrijwel identiek model niet lang geleden even te koop bij de HEMA. De HEMA had echter geen toestemming gevraagd aan Meindertsma, en daarom verdween de poef al snel uit de schappen. De twee daaropvolgende weken stond op de website van de Hema een banner met “Excuses aan Christien”.

De wisseltruc

De afgelopen dagen ben ik druk geweest met het maken en in elkaar zetten van hoezen voor een geleende poef. Het resultaat: een makkelijk inwisselbare poef die overal bij past! Ben je de ene hoes zat, dan doe je er in een handomdraai een andere omheen. De hoezen zijn overigens allemaal anders gemaakt dus geen hoes is hetzelfde. Ik maakte ze allemaal met Hoooked Zpagetti.

The last few days I've been busy making covers for a pouf. The result: an easy to use pouf that can be used in any home. The covers are very easy to use. I you are tired of one color, you can take it off and use another one. The covers are all made with various colors and patterns. I made them all with Hoooked Zpagetti.

De volgende poef

Inmiddels is de hoes voor de volgende poef af. Hij is 1.20m lang en is behoorlijk zwaar, namelijk ongeveer 1,5 kilo. Omdat de vulling nog even op zich laat wachten gaat hij voor nu even in de kast, maar hopelijk is het eindresultaat snel op deze blog te zien. Ik haakte deze hoes met Hoooked Zpagetti.

The cover for the next pouf is finished. It's 1.20m long and it's pretty heavy: 1500 grams. Because the inner pillow hasn't arrived yet I'll put it away for now but I hope to show you the end result soon. I made this cover with Hoooked Zpagetti.

Wat is het eigenlijk?

Alhoewel mijn eerste creaties van gewone wol gemaakt zijn brei ik inmiddels met iets heel anders. Hoooked Zpagetti. Hoooked Zpagetti is gemaakt van kwalitatief hoogwaardig en duurzaam restmateriaal uit de mode- en textielindustrie en je kunt er prima mee breien of haken. Mijn volgende poef wordt dus zeker hiervan gemaakt!

All projects above are made with Hoooked Zpagetti. That's a lovely sort of t-shirt yarn that's made of recycled materials. You can use it for crochet or knit projects. I will certainly make a pouf out of this yarn.
