Bokeh Wishes for CAS Mix Up Reminder

Hello friends.

There’s still time to join in at CAS Mix Up.

My Mixed Media are: Bokeh, Stenciling, Brusho, Watercolor, Stamping and Die Cutting

This month’s challenge is hosted by Nancy
Sadly this is Nancy's last post as a Designer for CAS Mix Up.
We will miss her here but we'll still be seeing her over at CAS Stencil.

I pulled out a background using Brusho crystals and sponged white ink through a stencil.

After I die cut a circle for this card, I had a little piece left and used that
as well as the bit of stem I'd cut from the bottom of the flowers and
have a twofer.

I'm also joining in at our new sister challenge
I have sponged with white ink through a stencil.

The CAS Mix Up Design Team, including our fabulous Guest Designer, Viv have
some more wonderful inspiration pieces for you.

Hope you'll  join in the fun at CAS Mix Up.
Challenge ends on the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Bokeh Technique for CAS Mix Up

Hello friends and a big wish for a very happy 2019!

We have a new challenge at CAS Mix Up

My mixed media are Bokeh Technique, Stenciling, Alcohol Ink, Stamping, Die Cutting and Dry Embossing.

Nancy is our host this month and this is what she chose.

I wanted to try something a little different for my Bokeh technique.

I pulled out a piece of alcohol inked background from my stash and
used the Alcohol Ink Blending Pen that I had bought ??? years ago
to get my white spots.

I placed a stencil over the inked piece and removed the color
with the blending pen.  I overlapped circles in a few places and
used several different sized circles on my stencil.

It worked even better than I had hoped!

Speaking of stencils, CAS will have a new challenge starting on January 4th.

The Bokeh technique is one of the many ways you can use a stencil.

If you're not sure how to do this technique, there are videos at
CAS Mix Up that can help you out.

Our Design Team has come back from Christmas vacation with
lots of fabulous inspiration for you.  And we have a very talented
Guest Designer, Viv.  I'm sure you'll love her card as much as I do.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Lorelai Leaf with Bokeh

This card was done with a Watercolor Bokeh technique.

We made these backgrounds in a watercolor class I held recently.

We wet the watercolor paper then dropped re-inker onto the wet paper
and blended it around until we were happy with it.

When it was dry, we used a die cut template of different size
circles to stencil the white dots.

The leaf is cut from the Lorelai Leaf die from Poppystamps.

I did some texturing on the leaves with a stylus but it doesn't show very well.
IRL you can see the veins.

THE HEAT IS ON

I'm thinking cooling off  in the shade beside a spring fed mountain brook.

The sun makes the water sparkle.

It's a wonderful respite from the hot, August sun.

LOL. That cooled me off.

How about you?

I don't have many Poppystamp dies but I recently won one just by commenting
on Marybeth's blog.

I would have commented anyway because I always love what she does.

But I'm excited about getting the die.

It's the snowflake ribbon and I know I'll have fun with it.

I hope you are staying cool.

Thanks for sitting by the brook with me.

Enjoy!

Watercolor Class Project

Here's another card that we did in the watercolor class last week.

We stamped the Blended Bloom stamp with Whisper White
and heat embossed it with white EP.

Then we wet the flower with clean water and dropped some
Pink Pirouette and Strawberry Slush reinker onto the wet petals.

The center was colored with Daffodil Delight reinker.

After the flower dried (and we had a good chat), we wet around the flower
and added some Pistachio Pudding reinker with a few spots
of Pink Pirouette and Daffodil Delight.

Stamped the sentiment and let the paper dry.

I find that stacking a couple of big books on the dry watercolor
works well to flatten it before adhering to the card base.

My friend Loll has a great tutorial on this technique.

I think this fits the Addicted to Stamps Challenge

A few days ago I posted a card very similar to this one that we did in the class.

I had a question about how I did the background.

Unfortunately, the person who asked the question didn't give me a way to answer her.

So I thought I'd post a similar card and give you a link to the
You may need to be a member of Splitcoaststampers to see the tutorials.
It's free to join and very easy.

After teaching the class, I had several more backgrounds done
and decided to do one with black accents instead of white.

I can't decide which I like better.

Since I used a snippet of black for the butterfly, I'm sharing at

Thanks for the visit.

Enjoy!

Watercolor Bokeh

I've been playing a lot with watercolors this week.

I'm having a Customer Appreciation Class today.

Here's one of the cards we'll be doing.

This card  uses the Bokeh technique that I've been seeing a lot of.

It's really easy and a lot of fun.

I cut my own circle stencil to do the dots.

I hope my friends will enjoy doing this technique as much as I did.
