Daisy Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a nice weekend.  I got in a quick bit of crafty time.....

to do a card using my dear, sweet friend Michele's sketch at

The daisy is three pieces die cut from watercolor paper and colored with re-inkers
and a waterbrush.  The smaller square has a light smooshing of the same
re-inker watered down and picked up with acetate.

The background square was embossed and patted with a white inkpad.  I should
have used a smaller square for the flower so more of the embossing would show.

The Design Team has wonderful inspiration, as always.  Let's see all the
creative beauties in the gallery.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Handwritten Notes (ret PTI)
Ink:   Gorgeous Grape, Whisper White
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Fresh Freesia (SU), Watercolor (Alt)
Other:  Dewdrop Daisy (SSS), Pepperberry Bundle EF (SSS), Stitched Squares (SSS), Subtle EF (ret SU), Fresh Freesia & Daffodil Re-inkers

Enjoy!

Sunflower Garden

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I saw the mood board at Just Us Girls, I really zeroed in
on the sunflowers.  They are such a happy flower!

Here's the board...

Sunflowers and butterflies make me happy.  Hopefully this card will
make someone else happy.

I used a stencil that does a whole background.  I even got it lined up right
on the first try!  I added some stamped splatters too and just one butterfly today.

Let's go over to Just Us Girls and enjoy the Design Team's lovely inspiration
pieces and that luscious gallery!

Card Recipe

More Birdies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I made this card, I die cut a couple sets of birdies and they
needed a home.  So for some Friday fun,  I'm playing with these 'tweet' birdies.

Three found their way on this card.  I die cut the frame from patterned paper with
a very subtle pattern and popped that over some embossed leaves.

Two more found their way to welcome a new baby.  I rarely need a baby card, but
my daughters ask for one once in awhile.  That yellow cardstock was a gift from a
friend.  I love this light, bright shade and will be sad when it's all gone.  Fortunately
she gave me several 12 x 12 sheets.

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Rosemal Reflections (Grtry)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, DP (?)
Other:  Birdies die (SSS), Leafy EF (SB), Mini Slimline die (SSS)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:  Welcome Baby (?)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Yellow Texture (?), DP (?)
Other:  Birdies die (SSS), Square Peek-a-boo Window die (MFT)

Enjoy!

Flutters

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another just for fun Friday with some new butterflies.

I seem to be obsessed with the die and embossing folder sets.  This one is one of my
all time favorites!

For the first card, I embossed a piece of Cantaloupe cardstock and patted over the
raised parts with a white ink pad.  (I use a large inkpad to do this.)

Then I cut some butterflies and embossed them to get the wonderful detail.

A little ink in the center of the butterflies tie them into the background and
I had a perfect sentiment stamp and die set in my NBUS box to add to the card.

This time I used an aqua cardstock and ink and a favorite saying.

I thought it needed something extra and added a daisy for the wildflower.

Since this is their first outing, I'll add them to Darnell's NBUS challenge #86.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Nature's Dance (SB)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Crisp Cantaloupe, Gold Foil
Other:  Butterfly Escapades EF & Die (SSS), Nature's Dance dies (SB)

Card Recipe
Stamps: Butterfly Mornings (Crafty Individuals)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Coastal Cabana
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Coastal Cabana, Gold Foil
Other:  Butterfly Escapades EF & Die (SSS), Label Die (Emily Moore Designs), Daisy Silhouette Die (MB), Copics (C00, YG82, YG15)

Enjoy!

Butterfly Happy Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We're back to summer heat so I'll be staying inside as much as possible for
a few days.  I'm glad to have an excuse to take a break on the yard work.

I've been playing with these butterflies a lot lately.  I'm not sure if any of them have
made it to my blog before, but I thought they would work well for the
Freshly Made Sketches #736 by Varina...

and I even used a piece of my hoard of patterned papers.

The butterflies are a die and embossing folder set from Simon Says.
It's my new favorite toy.

Challenges:

Cherry Blossoms

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a nice weekend and found some time to get creative.

This card was made with a new Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and die set.

I love being able to get the embossed details in the die cuts and when they
offered a discount on their embossing folders, I gave in to the temptation.

I thought that Donna's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches would be a good
fit for these little blooms.

Here's her sketch....

I used the smallest stitched rectangle die and cut six from Solar White Cardstock.
Then on to the embossing folder.  The die cuts three so I cut once from mixed
media paper and colored with Distress Re-inkers used as watercolor.  The leaves
were from another die.

After the flowers had dried, I used a white gel pen to highlight details and a
tiny gem for the center to tie the flowers to the sentiment strip.

Challenges:

NBUS #85 - Never Before Used Schtuff - Embossing folder and die

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sentiment Strips (Alt)
Ink:   Whisper White

Other:  Cherry Blossoms EF & Die (SSS), Distress re-inkers (Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron), Subtle EF, Stitched Rectangles die (SSS), Fantasy Bouquet die (SSS)

Fuchsia and Navy for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues.

This month my dear friend Nanc' picked our colors.  She chose....

Now Fuchsia is not a color I would normally use so I had to hunt to find something
to help me with this color.  Fortunately my Twimarkers set has a Fuchsia marker.
Problem solved in the most delightful way.

After coloring the die cuts, I popped them on an embossed piece of navy.
Love that contrast!

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Fuchsia & Navy and add it to the gallery at

You can use any hue of these two colors.

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on April 14th.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Agapanthus (TT OOB)
Ink:   Night of Navy
Paper:  Mixed Media (Strathmore), Night of Navy, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Arteza Twimarkers (Fuchsia, Latte Brown), Layered Perky Flower die (SSS), Checkered Scallops EF (SB), Border Builders die (LI OOB)

Enjoy!

Perky White Flowers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Green is such a good color for this time of year.  I am seeing green in the
trees and the grass.

I have used a NBUS die from Simon Says Stamp that was cut from Neenah Solar White
cardstock and colored with Copic markers.

It's a simple design, but one I use a lot and the white pops so well on the medium
green background.

Here's another but embracing the yellow.  After all it is Pine Pollen Season here!
(Even the green is yellow!)

This time I cut the flower from light yellow cardstock and added some yellow
ink around the edges with a finger dauber.

By using a different embossing folder and a white background framed in yellow,
it gives a different look.

I made the ladybugs by punching a circle from red and one from black and
gluing the red slightly offset over the black.  An ultrafine Sharpie works great
for the dots.  The punch is an old one but one I think you find in any big box store or
office supply.

Challenges:
Beautiful Blossoms #39 - ATG Florals with optional mood board below
NBUS #84 - Never Before Used Schtuff
Seize the Birthday #322 - Following the option - Use Green as the main color

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Cosmo (TTT oob)
Ink:   Garden Green
Paper:  Garden Green, Neenah Solar White, Rustic White
Other: Perky Flower die (SSS), Cracked Large EF (TH), Copics (C00, C0, G24, YG17, YG67)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps: Easter Blossoms (ret SU)
Ink:  Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Perky Flower die (SSS), Tile Reflections EF (SB)

In case you're still with me, this is what I saw as I was getting out of the car yesterday
afternoon...

We think it had just bloomed and was drying it's wings.  I checked later and it was gone.
Hopefully it flew on and I'll see it again today.

Enjoy!

Heart Cookies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We're coming up to the big V day!  I have a couple more heart cards to share.

A week or so ago, Simon Says Stamp offered a free gift of a 3D embossing
folder and matching die with an order.  I was ready to order and was excited
to get the gift!  I opened it right up and put it to work.

I die cut some of the hearts and put them in the embossing folder to get
the sweet impressions on them.  Gently patting over the top of the embossing
with a pink ink pad brought out the designs.

I placed the hearts on a strip of vellum that was sitting on the table and added
that to a piece of Neenah that I'd die cut with a retired scalloped border die.
All that was added to a piece of pink that had been embossed with polka dots.

And another to show the whole embossing folder....

This picture doesn't pick up the depth of the embossing.

I die cut from another NBUS die-String of Hearts and a layered heart
from some leftover bits.

Challenges:
NBUS #83 - Never Before Used Schtuff (Embossing folder with heart dies, String of Hearts die)
Time Out Challenge #306 - Pick two from the badge below. (I picked pink, hearts, twine)

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:  Pretty in Pink (SU)
Paper:  Cotton Candy (SSS), Neenah Solar White, Vellum, Real Red
Other:  Heart Cookies EF & Die (SSS), Perfect Polka Dots (ret SU), Heart String die (PB), Stitched Up Heart dies (Unity), Confetti Hearts Punch (ret SU)

Enjoy!

Snowman Hugs

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We finally had a little snowstorm.  It lasted about 10 minutes.
It was so pretty!

Not enough for a snowman so I had to go with paper.

I found some blues in my background box.  I think they were mop ups, but I
hadn't written down what I did.

I cut an oval and embossed it then swiped some white ink over the raised snowflakes.

This little bundled snowman was a Christmas present.

The layout is Judy's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Inkspirational.

Challenges:
Freshly Made Sketches #719 - Judy's sketch below
Inkspirational #359 - Visual Prompt-Shades of Blue

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Snow Flourish (IO-OOB)
Ink:   Whisper White, Blueberry Bushel
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Mixed Media, Watercolor, White Glimmer
Other:  Capsule Basics die, Shortbread Shapes Snowflake EF (Grtry), Bundled Snowman die (SSS), Kars Snow EF (ret Cuttlebug)
