Winter Barn Merry Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Hopefully I'm not going to miss the deadline for the Peace on Earth Challenge.

Time sure flies!

I stamped this retired stamp with Archival ink and used Distress Markers and my
waterbrush to color.  I started light and kept building up color until I had the depth
of color I wanted.

For the moon, I punched a 3/4" circle and colored around it. I added a light wash of
Scattered Straw to add some glow.

I used a very sharp watercolor pencil in black to add some definition to the tree and
windmill.  Some Chunky White Frantage added a little snow flurry.

Finally, I fashioned a tiny wreath with a snowflake stamp and tiny paper punch and
a stamped sentiment finished it off.

Challenges:
Peace on Earth #46 - Inspired by mood board

Floral Bunny

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This background may look familiar.  It was the background for one of the cards in my last class.
I had some leftovers and added different bunnies and butterflies for fun.

This time I used a Serendipity/IO bunny die.  I've die cut twice from extra heavy cardstock
and watercolor paper so the flowers wouldn't cut completely out.  I watercolored the flowers
then added a bunny with the flowers cut out on top.

Challenges:
Tic Tac Toe - Diagonal (Die Cut, Rabbit, Flowers)
Dies R Us - Flowers/Spring (Bunny die in stock here)
Four SeasonsANYTHING GOES SPRING

Card Recipe
Stamps: Forever Fern, Perpetual Calendar (SU)
Ink:   Soft Sky, Gumball Green, Crumb Cake (SU)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Natural (MFT), Snippets of colored cardstock
Other:  Timeless Type EF (SU), Bunny Die (Serendipity-IO),  Small Butterfly Punch (SU), Caran d'ache Supracolor pencils

Enjoy!

Berries for Twofer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today I'm joining in at the Twofer Challenge.

I hope these designs are different enough.

Firstly are the blackberries.
They are mounted on a piece of Bruso smoosh and the card base is a
deep Purple that's been subtly embossed.

I've inked the stamp with Distress Markers and
stamped on Mixed Media paper.  Using my waterbrush, I moved
the colors around.  Looks like I moved the color in the sentiment
a bit too much!

My Twofer....

This time they are raspberries, one of my favorite fruits.

I've stamped with Archival ink onto Neenah cardstock and used Distress Ink
smooshed on my palette to pick up the color.

This started out as a full card front but somehow, it picked up some
turquoise paint that was on my work space.

By the time I figured out where it was coming from and cleaned it up,
I'd "infected" a card base and several places on the design.

Fortunately I could salvage the strip with the berries.

I've used that Subtle Embossing Folder to add texture to the design piece
but the camera refuses to see it.

Thanks to the gals at the Twofer challenge that chose my
cards as co-winners last month.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Winter Homestead for CAS Christmas

Hello and welcome.  It's time for a new challenge at
CAS Christmas.

This month is hosted by our super talented Susan.

This Serendipity (now sold at Impression Obsession) stamp was in
my NBUS box and I was delighted to have an excuse to use it.

I've stamped the scene on Mixed Media paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

To color I smooshed some ink on my palette and picked up color
with my water brush.  I really didn't do much coloring.

Chunky Frantage Embossing Powder made quite a blizzard over the scene.

Our Design Team has some beautiful inspiration pieces and this month and
we are joined by our very talented Guest Designer, Lyn.

You can check it all out at
CAS Christmas

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Black Eyed Susan Bouquet for CAS Watercolour

Hello crafty friends.  There's still time to join in at
CAS Watercolour.

Susan is hosting the challenge this month and she chose.

I used this Corner Vase stamp from Serendipity (now sold at Impression Obsession)
and stamped it on mixed media paper using Antique Linen Distress ink.  Then I colored
it up using Zig CCRBM and my waterbrush.

Some of the flowers turned out really well.  Others not so great.

I found that swiping the Zigs on my palette and picking up the color
with my waterbrush gave me better control of the color.

When I was a little girl, I loved the Black Eyed Susan flowers that grew in the
meadow behind our house and would pick bouquets to take in to my mom.
They cheerful flowers bring back happy memories.

Our Design Team and Guest Designer Leslie have some
awesome inspiration pieces and the gallery is full of beautiful bouquets.
Hope you'll visit and enter in at

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

With Love to Di

Hello friends.

Today is the start of a special event! Di's friend Darnell from across the pond has initiated a surprise Blog Hop to thank Di for the SEVEN years she has managed the Snippets Playground where we go to share our use of those bits of paper left over from past projects, and generally have an amazing and fun time!  Di and the gang are so supportive and it's always a pleasure to visit there.

I used an Inka Gold Smooshed background from my stash, cut it down and
used an old punch to get that decorative edge.

The hearts were left over from a project a couple of years ago and the die cut sentiment
was cut from another snippet of Inka Gold Smoosh.

I used two hearts and glued the center of one atop the other then lifted the edges
of the top one for some dimension.

The love is stacked for added dimension.

Thanks for doing this Darnell! What a wonderful idea to honor a
lovely and generous lady!

The Blog Hop for Di is over at Darnell's Blog
You can visit Di's Playground here.  Don't forget the keys

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Winter Fenceline CAS Watercolour

Hello friends.

There’s still time to join in at CAS Watercolour Challenge.

This month’s challenge is hosted by my friend Susan

I've used this serene stamp by Serendipity, stamping with Versafine Onyx Black.

I let the ink dry for a while then watercolored with Distress inks smooshed
onto a palette and picked up with a water brush and painted onto wet paper.

If you look close you can see that the tree branches have been glossified
with some Nuvo Crystal Glaze for an icy look.

Unfortunately my sympathy stash is getting low.

The Design Team, including our fabulous Guest Designer, Janet have
some more wonderful inspiration pieces for you.

Hope you'll  join in the fun at CAS Watercolour.

Challenge ends on the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Serendipity Chickadees Inking with Markers

Hello friends and welcome.

I have some watercolor chickadees from Serendipity.

I'm really enjoying my Serendipity stamps and
the little chickadees are some of my favorite birds.

I placed this stamp in my MISTI and inked the birds first
with Distress Markers.  After each stamping, I moved the color
with a water-brush then stamped again.

I followed the same procedure for the pine boughs and cones.

I could have made this into a Christmas card but decided to use it
as an anniversary card for my sister and brother-in-law.

I hope they like it.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Stamps:  Chickadee (Serendipity), Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU)

Paper:   Mixed Media, Neena, Soft Sky (SU)
Other:  Stitched Square Dies (SSS), Hardwood Plank EF (SU)

Serendipity Thistle

Hello friends. I hope you are having a great day!

I was playing with this beautiful Serendipity Thistle stamp for last month's class
and had an extra that I stamped different color dots on trying to decide
which color to go with.  I ultimately decided on the pale yellow,
but liked how it looked with all the different colors.

The thistle stamp, which includes the butterfly,
was so easy to ink with markers.

The MISTI is such a great tool for this technique!

I die cut around the bottom and put the design on a piece of
mauve cardstock.  It looked like it needed a little something else,
so I scored the bottom of the mauve piece.

Serendipity has a blog hop on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
Mary always has some good sales and if you comment
on all the blogs of the Design Team, you get a chance to win a
gift certificate to Serendipity.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Turning the Page August 2018

Tomorrow we turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year and I've been sporadic about sharing them with you so
I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month "Turning the Page".

I hope you enjoy these posts.

Here's our August page.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

Happy August!

Blackberries

Hello friends.  Welcome.

I've inked this stamp with Distress Markers, inking a section at a time.

The MISTI is wonderful for this technique!

I had bought some linen cardstock and wondered if I could
watercolor on it.  It worked great!

The design piece has been die cut and inlaid back into the frame.

Serendipity is having a Blog Hop.
If you comment on all the Hoppers you could win
a $20.00 gift certificate to Serendipity.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Christmas Barn

Hello friends.  I'm glad you stopped by.

The boys are hanging out with us this week and Jack has been keeping busy in
the studio playing with Brushos.  But I was able to put together a quick
card for Merry Monday where Leanne is hosting.

I have one barn stamp and it was in my NBUS box just waiting to make a debut!

Serendipity makes and sells this stamp.

I stamped it with Pumice Stone Distress ink and let it dry.

I colored the barn by putting some ink on my palette and picking up
color with a water brush.

When the ink was dry, I stamped again with VersaMark and embossed
with heat and clear embossing powder.  Then I could do a wet
on wet wash for the sky without the ink from the design running.

The wreath was made by stamping a tiny snowflake stamp with green ink.
I used punches to make it into a wreath.

Some chunky Frantage added some texture and a snowy scene.

I'm also going to add this to the gallery at
CAS Christmas where Christine is hosting.

I think this will go to my nephew who farms.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Barn and Windmill (Serendipity), Christmas Treasures (Wish)
Ink:   Pumice Stone, Fired Brick, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky, Pine Needles (DI), VersaMark
Paper:   Mixed Media (St), Neenah
Other:  Water Brush, Clear EP, Chunky Frantage EP (Stampendous)

Snowman on Skis for CAS Christmas Reminder

Hello friends.

There's just over a week left to join in at CAS Christmas.

I had so much fun creating this guy!

Susan chose a fun challenge at CAS Christmas this month.

I put this stamp from Serendipity in my MISTI and inked him with markers,
using my water brush after each stamping.  I repeated inking and stamping
until I was happy with the results.

It was really fun watching him come to life bit by bit!

Serendipity is having  a blog hop and if you comment on all the hoppers
you're entered into a random drawing for a $20.00 gift certificate.
There's also lots of $1.00 stamps and a great deal on a grab bag at the
Serendipity store.
Inspriation and bargains. What a deal!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!
