Singing Happy Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I had fun making this colorful birthday card.

Seize the Birthday has the option of music and I remembered this NBUS embossing
folder I'd gotten recently.

I paired it up with the fun font of this HAPPY BIRTHDAY die and decided to
add the little mouse from another NBUS set.

I'm glad to say that my general NBUS box is looking a bit emptier.
I'm trying to use these items quicker than I accumulate them.
I'm sure some of you know what I mean.  ;-)

It's pretty straightforward.  I die cut, colored with Copics (including some
scrap strips) and put them on an embossed piece.

Oh, and I added a little pom-pom to the top of his party hat.

Challenges:
AAA Birthday  - Animals (where my friend Trina is Guest Designer)
Can You Handle the Pressure - ATG with embossing (no twist of poppies)
NBUS #54 - Never Before Used Schtuff (EF & Mouse Stamp
Seize the Birthday #268 - Make it Musical

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Friend Wishes (Stampendous)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Merry Medley EF (SU), Happy Birthday Die (SSS), Copics (BF15, R22, Y15, YG07, Vp5, B23, E33, E23, R30, R81)

Enjoy!

Cozy Winter Birds for CAS Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by.

There's still time to get warm and cozy for Trina's challenge at CAS Christmas.
This is our last challenge at CAS Christmas for 2019!
We'll be taking the month of December off.

I've done a no-line watercolor on these little guys that are all bundled up
and cuddled together.

First I stamped the image with Shadow Gray Archival ink.
Then I've picked up ink that's been smooshed on my palette to color
the scene.  Finally, I've used the wet on wet technique to
color in the background, die cut and popped up on foam to the card front.

Their hats are winked with Stella and there's some sparkly paste on the
branch to look like snow.  While the sparkle paste was still wet, I
sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds over top.

I'll hope you'll check out the challenge and see what our fabulous Design Team
and our Guest Designer Bobby have done to inspire  you.
Then join us with your warm and cozy CAS Christmas card at

Indroducing Emmy

Hi there.

I want to introduce you to an upcoming talent in the cardmaking world.

My lovely granddaughter, Emmy has been spending lots of time with me.

A couple of weeks ago I introduced her to Brushos and Lindy's Magicals.

She was a goner!

She did LOTS of backgrounds.

She picked one that would be perfect with the mermaid stamp on my shelf.

Here's a closer look at the card.

Her Aunt Kelli is going to love this!

She did a beautiful job on the inside with some flowers and a
message that will bring tears to her aunt's eyes.

We'll be sharing more in the coming days and months.

What a joy to share this wonderful obsession hobby with her!

And a special thanks to Ms. Loll for making her a watermark.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Fluttering By

Hello friends.  I'm glad you stopped by.

Today's card was made with a NBUS House Mouse Stamp.
I love these sweet little mice!

I've stamped the image with Versafine ink on mixed media paper
and watercolored with Zigs.

The washed background was done using the wet on wet technique
and Distress re-inker.

I pulled out my Wink of Stella to add some shimmer to the butterfly
and added some tiny rhinestones to the trail.

Here's a close up that shows the shimmer a bit better.

Angel Kisses

Hello friends.  I'm glad you could stop by.

I wasn't sure I would get a card done for Merry Monday this week.
But thanks to my UFO box, I got one done quickly.

This week Linda is hosting the challenge.

When I saw Marcia's card I remembered that I had this image
stamped, colored and tucked away for future use.

I had stamped this a long time ago when stamping with friends
and even got it colored.

You know how it goes.  You stamp a bunch of stuff and it
gets set aside for later.

The background was also in the UFO box.  I had used some gold
stenciling creme to do some stars.  I didn't do a really good job on them
but it wasn't bad enough to throw away.

There's only a few showing and some tiny stars punched
from gold foil filled in.

I edged the background with some gold ink and heat embossed it
in gold to go along with the sentiment.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Spring Chickadee for CAS Watercolour

Hello, friends and welcome.

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Watercolour

I'm hosting this month and I chose

This is one of my favorite bird stamps and I had him all painted up.

It's called Snowbird and there was snow and berries on the branches.

I know how we are all yearning for spring and didn't want to post a winter bird.

So.....

I filled in the snow (which was plain paper) with a marker
and punched out some flowers to cover the berries.

The piece I punched the flowers from was a piece of
Faux Mother of Pearl so the flowers have a variegated look and a little shine.
I just had to add a dot in the middle.

I added a bit of green at the end of the branches to represent new leaves.
(I didn't do a very good job in my hurry so I thought I should explain that.)

I die cut my design image and used the larger die to emboss the card front
and placed the design on top.

I hope you'll join us at
CAS Watercolour this month.

Our Design team and fantastic Guest Designer, Stef (Perry Papercrafts)
have cards to wow you and inspire you.
Be sure to check them out!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Penny Black Watercolor Butterfly

Hi Ya'll.

It's reminder time for CAS Watercolour

To make this butterfly, I smooshed some tissue in ink that had been
laid down with distress inks and smooshed.

I really liked how it looked after it dried so I glued it to a piece of cardstock.

This Penny Black die was perfect to cut it out.

I wanted a little glitz so I die cut the body from a snippet of gold foil
and the sentiment from another.

The background was made by masking the card front and
stamping the music score.

There's still time to join in at CAS Watercolour
with your watercolor butterflies

and there's still time to join in at
with your tissue paper creations.
My mixed media are tissue paper, stamping, watercoloring, masking and die cuts

Both Challenges are open until the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Geraniums for a Friend

Hi there.

I got out my watercolors and an NBUS stamp yesterday.

I tried inking with Distress stains but I ended up coloring the stems red
as well as the flowers.

So I went back in with markers.

It's a little messy.

I used MISTI to stamp.  That way I can go back and get some details
after moving the color with water.

I pulled some of the color out and around the flower to
give it a loose look.  That way the messy seems intentional.

Maybe...

I plan to give this to our neighbors who are moving soon.
We are sad to see them leave.

They have admired my red geraniums each summer so
I thought this would be appropriate to  wish them well.

Inside I added this message....

Many people will walk
in and out of your
life, but only true
friends will leave
footprints in your heart.
                Eleanor Roosevelt

Since it's flowers for friends, I'm going to run over to
TIME OUT CHALLENGE
'Flowers and friends make life a garden'

THE FLOWER CHALLENGE #9

And since geraniums are my summer flower of choice,
I'll put this is in the gallery at

Christmas Script for CAS Watercolour Reminder

We're halfway through the CAS Watercolour November Challenge!

My but time flies!

(other than a sentiment)

I pulled out a background piece that had been done by sprinkling with Brushos
and spritzing with water.  I added a little Inka Gold smoosh to it too.

I stamped it with the Christmas Background stamp using my MISTI.

I heat embossed the stamping then placed it back in my MISTI and stamped
and embossed again.  That gave it a nice thick embossing that showed better with
the dark background.

I cut off some of the piece because it was a bit bigger than I wanted.
I die cut the tallest tree from the leftover piece to put on the inside.

The trees are die cut several times and stacked for dimension.
(I used some snippets of Neena to put behind the Glimmer.)

I hope you'll add some text to a card and share it with us at
CAS Watercolour Card Challenge

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Hello and a Merry Monday to you.

This week it's my turn to choose the challenge.

I've had this gorgeous Stampendous stamp for a year (or maybe 2)

I was able to practice a paint lifting technique I learned in the
Online Watercolor for Cardmakers Intermediate class.

It's a CAS Mixed Media card.

What is CAS Mixed Media?

Check back tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I hope you'll think about berries and join us at

I'm so glad you stopped by.

Winter Birds for Merry Monday

It's the last Merry Monday of November.

The lovely Kathy has chosen our challenge this week.

You know I loved this challenge!

My dear friend Mary (Carolina Cards by Mary H.)
gifted me with this awesome stamp when we met in real life last Spring.

I've actually had this done for quite a while just waiting for the perfect challenge.

I stamped the image on Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black
and colored with Copic Markers.

After fussy cutting it out, I adhered it over a lightly stamped background
with dimensionals.

A little Dazzling Details on the snow covered branches
and Flower Soft on the pom poms finish it off.

is in it's final week for this year.  I'll just make the deadline.
Thanks Sarn for doing this challenge each month.

is ANYTHING GOES.
