Peleset Chariots #3

Here's the last pair of Peleset chariots.

Newline Design figures once again, part of my post Holiday sale purchase back in January.

Once again, the easy fit of the crew into the cab is a nice feature of these models... not the case with many other manufacturers!

The drivers are doing the "Ben Hur" with the dental floss reins!

Peleset Skirmishers and Leaders

Four leftover Peleset Archers form a unit of skirmisher bowmen for To the Strongest!

Foundry figures.

Definitely fun to paint, with the distinctive headdresses!

Aim...   shoot!

Peleset foot commanders and/or Heroes.

All Newline Designs figures.

Still some fruits of their January sale!

Ram you, Ramses!

Peleset Oxcarts #2

Here's another Peleset Oxcart.

Figures by Newline designs once again.

Very bice detail on the crew sculpts.

An Ox of a different color!

More of a good and/or warrior transport platform, I think, but still so eveocative!

Three of these heavy (and expensive) contraptions should be plenty. They may just wind up as fortified Camps (which seems to be how they are treated in To the Strongest!)

Peleset Chariots #2

A second pair of Peleset Chariots trundles forward!

Newline Designs figures once again.

Once again, a better fit for the crew figures than many other manufacturers!

The design of the chariots seems both simple and heavier than their Egyptian counterparts.

Peleset Chariots #1

This is my first pair of Pelset Chariots, raised to support the invasion of Egypt and the Middle East by the Sea Peoples.

Figures by Newline Designs once again. The crew figures actually fit in the cabs fairly easily.

The reins were made with painted dental tape once again.

Look out, Ramses!

Peleset Ox Cart #1

The first of several Peleset (Philistine) Ox carts.

These are by Newline Designs, about the only manufacturer who does them in 25/28 mm that I could find.

Whether they were actually used in battle or simply as transport for goods, women, and children is uncertain.

Still, they are so well known, unique, and cool, you gotta have a few...   right?

Peleset Archers #2

A second unit of Peleset archers takes aim at Ramses II and his army!

Once again,  these fine figures are by Foundry.

Firepower isn't the strong point of a Peleset army, but it's nice to at least have some!

Painting these troops was very satisfying!

Peleset Archers #1

With he addition of the Hittite and Sea peoples troops from Bill McHugh's collection came the inevitable desire to expand them to full armies on a footing similar to my existing Egyptians and Assyrians.

Both armies were especially light on missile troops, so when I discovered that the Foundry range included Peleset (Philistine) archers, I took advantage of their annual Holiday sale to acquire some.

The Command figures are from Newline designs - thank their January sale for them!

They were based in my usual style for near Eastern ancient armies.

Quite a colorful lot; hopefully they can shoot, too!

Peleset (Philistine) Warbands, Skirmishers, and Leaders

Along with the Hittites, there were quite a few other Chariot era figures I acquired from Bill's collection. Those needing the least work were the Peleset warriors.

These figures were very familiar to me, as I have them in my collection already - Old Glory!

They were well painted, and just needed reorganizing, rebasing, and minimal touchup.

Note the black lining on the tunic pattern!

The second unit has a white "kilt" with an orange pattern...

and a blue head dress.

Very menacing looking!

These additions will double the size of my Peleset forces. The Pelset were one of the Sea Peoples, and are often equated with the Philistines of the Bible.

Some surplus figures were used to make a unit of skirmishers...

and a couple of leaders/heroes.

Since the Old Glory figures come 30 to a pack, I did much the same thing with mine!

A little dry brushing altered the colors of the head dress feathers

to Turquoise and Orange from the base blue and  dark red.
