Happy Giant Mutant Bunny Day!! Oh and some minis too!

This day in ancient times was celebrated by the exchange of chocolate eggs and for some unknown reason the need to dress up as a giant mutant bunny rabbit. So from all of us on mattblackgod's world....

HAPPY GIANT MUTANT BUNNY DAY!!

Right who wants to see some figures? *cocks the kneecapper* I said WHO wants to see some figures??

First up is a random lone Stalker equipped with a home built SMG - often nicknamed "The Ba***rd" due to misfires, poor accuracy and jamming when you don't want it too.

The figure is a Warlord Bolt Action plastic WW2 British Tommy. I added a hood to the figure and that is pretty much it. One thing to note is that the Bolt Action figures are noticeably smaller than other 28mm figs including the Combat Zone ones.I originally intended to use the bolt action arms and weapons with the Combat Zone figures to make Stalker conversions but the arms are too short and weapons a bit on the small side.

There has been other conversions on going on. My old Combat Zone plastic Gangers sat there unloved. So this is what happened....

L- R The left two have CZ trooper command arms while the guy on the far left has a Anvil head and a putty scarf. The third figure from left has been re-armed with GW 40K Dark Eldar arms. The guy on the right had the goofy looking assault rifle shaven from his arms. A resin shot gun replaces the original weapon.

L-R The lady on the far left has GW 40K Dark Eldar arms while the other two figures have EM4 CZ command arms added to give them the gunfighter look.

The CZ gangers look a little too high tech for post apoc so my plan is to use them as either Block Gang members for Utopia City or as Ships Crew/Pirates for Wild Galaxy.

I have a few more of the CZ gangers and troopers in the unpainted pile. A few more figure conversions will follow in future. I recently acquired the Wargames Factory Survivors (male and female) so any spare parts will find there way into this project.

Stalker Heavy Weapon Squad.

Stalkers are the life line for many Wasteland communities. They creep around the abandoned ruins and tunnels looking for salvage to trade. In the more dangerous places Veteran Stalkers set up fortified camps so a Stalker can rest in relative safety. In the Republic of Dan the Warlord has set up many camps around the old industrial and military ruins to the North of the Mound for the same reason. Due to the dangers from Bandit raiders and Mutant monsters the Stalkers are equipped with heavy weapons that Stalkers would find a burden in their day to day actives. In addition to this they wear old military clothes and body armor the Warlord supplied from a old military underground Bunker the Warlord discovered when he first walked this wasteland.

These Stalkers started life as Combat Zone plastic troopers. They sat there in my collection unloved. I have often used them for Stalker conversion as the body armor is similar to the Stalker Suit worn by the Veteran Stalkers in the computer game. Many of the weapons are Combat Zone Heavy Weapons and Command arms. One or two have weapon conversions. The heads are from Anvil except for one which is Iron Pig with a putty hood. Some of the Combat Zone Gangers are undergoing similar conversions.

A closer look at some of the Stalkers. All have Anvil heads. The one on the left has had its autopistol shaven off and a pistol from Zinge. A 1/35 WW2 German Rocket Grenade was also added. The center one has Combat Zone command arms and 1/35 WW2 German magazine pouches added. The guy on the right had its goofy looking assault rifle shaven off and a 1/35 30 cal machine gun put in its place. A 1/35 tool box was added as a ammo box. The shoulder pad is from the old Mongoose Judge Dredd plastic gangers set.

Tonker's Quest - Batrep.

Apologies for the lack of comic layout and my usual detail in my batreps. I have had little time and my camera has decided not to keep the pictures in the order they where shot in. I knew I should have programmed the date into it. Grrrrrr!

Rules used: - Nuclear Renaissance 2 by Ramshackle games with home brew Scav & encounter tables for the campaign.

Each force was as near as I could get to 650pts.

In Asylum City the word is out the Princess Vali is looking for more weapons for the Fortress’ armories to aid the city (well more of a small fortified town/post apocalyptic dive) in the ongoing mutant wars. She will pay handsomely for decent weapons and equipment.

While in the Glowing Lamb Bar a shady character sells a Stalker named Tonker a map. The map is said to be one of Sham’s - a famous wasteland walker who lives at the fortress.

Tonker looks at the map and soon finds at least two locations not to far away that might have some decent loot. The nearest is some place of the ancients that had warriors in flying machines (if you can believe the guy who sold him the map) lived. A little further on there is what was a base for ancient warriors. If there is anywhere the Stalkers can find cool weapons its at these two locations.

The ten miles to the airfield are a dangerous slog but it passes without incident.

The airfield.

The Stalkers arrive and view the gate to the airfield.

They spot some movement in the distance....

Some Scavengers....possibly from Scav Town. But why are they this far south?

Upon spotting the Stalkers the Scavs spit up. Some head to the dug out while others charge towards the Stalkers.

Tonker splits his team of Stalkers up.

He intends to flank the Scavs on each side and use the two rifle men to keep the Scavs pinned down.

The Rifle bearing Stalkers take first blood.

Tonker and his Stalkers push on down the fence and a fierce fire/arrow fight ensues...

Battle for the gate...

Despite the injured Stalkers Tonker wins through...

Meanwhile the flanking Stalkers and marksmen aren't doing to well. Mitzi faces down the Scav leader but her SMG jams. The Scav leader blasts her with his heavy pistol.

The Scav leader takes pot shots at the Stalker riflemen keeping them in a panic. They recover and manage to crack off some shots at him causing him to dash around some ruins in an attempt to flank them. He runs straight into the Stalker called Meathead. Screaming Meathead charges the Scav leader swinging his pole weapon made from an old lamp post.

The Scav leader is no match for the close combat experienced Meathead.

"That's for Mitzi you snecker!" Meathead spits.

Meathead then pushes down the other flank taking out a hiding Scav wielding a home made spear made from an old yard brush.

The remaining Scavs armed only with bows flee the battlefield.

Aftermath:

Mitzi is dead and two Stalkers are injured. They will miss a game.

In terms of haul the airfield only yelided some gas masks, filters, a NBC suit, a old uniform, a smoke grenade, four combat knives and some fuel drums.

The dead Scavs yeilded better kit. Mostly shotguns and pistols. At least the pistol armed Stalkers now have shotguns. Tonker has claimed Mitzi’s SMG.

The injured Stalkers have been left holed up in a safe spot in the Airfield and the loot stashed. Tonker decides to push on to the old Army base as it is only three miles away rather than drag the injured back to Asylum City. At least if the loot is better there they may have better weapons if something unpleasant attacks them on the way back.

A few new wastelanders.

Tango & Caps.

These pair a unlikely pair of Wastelanders. Tango got her name because of the hue of her skin. Best not call her a mutie though as that hammer will be used. Caps like getting caps, it doesn't matter how.

With Tango I was going for the ever popular orange skin tone you seem to see people wearing.
Tango is from East Riding minis and is from the Golgo line. Caps is a Copplestone sewer scavenger.

Libbi

Libbi is a Psi-er. Dont piss her off. She will make you nose bleed just before your brain melts. Libbi is from Hasslefree minis.

I liked what I read of the SSS game by Mojo Miniatures. So I headed into the mini pile to convert some figures.

Its amazing what a head swap and a hood can do.

The guy on the left was a WW2 American with a head swap, hood and arm swap. The guy in the middle is a Copplestone Sewer Scavenger. I swapped his SMG out for a staff/pipe. The guy on the right is a WWW2 British Paratrooper by Westwind. A head swap and hood changes the feel of the mini. Even if I dont get to play SSS these figures will make good additions to my Stalkers - which is why I kept the colours similar to the Rookie Stalkers.
