Sun Day

Weekend Round Up
I could give you a myriad of details that amalgamated into a divine weekend such as a gorgeous girl in an ultrasound, tasty foods, spring cleaning projects, new blossoms, long walks in Magnison Park, meandering drives around gorgeous neighborhoods, playing with the cutest puppy, dinner with easy friends, meaningful discussions about pregnancy and birth with my lover, naps, and root beer floats.  However, suffice it to say my happiness was due to the appearance of one most brilliant star.  This particular star is brighter than 85% of the stars in the Milky Way.

How I love you, sun - even if you are just a bunch of plasma.
Back to a rainy week,

Baby Shower for Devon

Good Afternoon!  I am working from home today and basking in sunlight in my new studio (which is really not at all finished save this desk and the paint on the walls).  It's so gorgeous out!

As promised, I wanted to share a few shots of Devon's shower I hosted this weekend.  I'm noticing that it's really hard to host AND take pictures, so I'm thankful to have any...though I do wish there were more.  There certainly were moments to capture.  Oh well!

There has been a goodly amount of sun here this last week and change, but I don't want to jinx Seattle by calling it "Spring."  But I was able to leave the house today without a pashimina for the first time in ages.

I'm feeling just as light as air.
And it feels divine.

I was reading this pregnancy book of my lovely Devon while hanging out at the doctor with her, and one of the chapters talked about how as a new mother, you need to learn to let things be as they are with the house while you adjust to the baby.  Sleep when they sleep, don't worry about cleaning, etc.  I thought about how I would like to cultivate this now, learning to let things lie. I'm not talking about becoming a slob, I'm talking about learning to relax with a house that is "lived-in."  In an effort to find the beauty in clutter, I decided to snap a picture of my kitchen this morning and tell the story behind each object.  You should totally do this (shoot me an email if you do!) and we can find beautiful messes together.

In fact, I've gone and created a flickr group for us to upload pictures of our mess. JOIN!
Even better than just a picture would be telling us what we are looking at, the history behind an object, the frustrations of the room, what things are used for...

In other news,
it's sunny.
I feel my suffocated soul reaching up on tippy-toes for Vitamin D.  It feels good.

My plants are therefore gathered for church. They bask in nourishment together.

hot town...summer in the country

Well, finally. Sheesh Seattle, way to string us along this year.
June was very cold and very rainy...and the first week of July portended similarly.

But it turns out that the rest of July is looking quite HOT.
There are a few things this arrival of summer means.
[one]
the long dreaded fashioning my favorite jeans into shorts
(five years is quite some go!)

[two]
iced coffee

[three]
although it's only 80-85 degrees outside, my poorly insulated residence will register in the upper 90s.
for some reason, Seattle was poorly planned in two areas:
a) public transit
b) no A/C in houses
it's just completely asinine.

[four]
shaving my legs
please do not cringe, but i rarely need shave due to the most fine blonde hair a girl could grow on her legs

[five]
scouring my pocketbook to afford an outdoor fire pit

[six]
if i were still residing in the city, Thomas Street Park would be covered in bikinis.
promptly 6 hours later, Broadway would be covered in sundresses and abused skin

[seven]
my birthday
(have i mentioned it already?)

p.s.

We've started off just swimmingly with 14 members and  quite a few uploads already!  Feel free to wander over and comment even if you haven't committed to joining!  Looking forward to more of your home!
