The latest Clint Eastwood-directed film, INVICTUS is set in South Africa and tells how Nelson Mandela used the Rugby World Cup to unite the people of South Africa with landscapes beautifully shot and the rugby match scenes progressing the action of what is an uplifting film. It features two Oscar-nominated performances by Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela. The diverse elements of the score are attributed to Michael Stevens and Eastwood's musician son Kyle with sister and father also involved along the way with composition and lyrics. It's always good to keep it in the family! Score includes songs featuring Yollandi Nortjie who sounds somewhat like Jamie Cullum who contributed a song for Eastwood's previous movie GRAN TORINO. Mr Nortjie swings between 9,000 DAYS, WORLD IN UNION '95 and SHOSHOLOZA and is often assisted in the background by Overtone (six voices and beat box) who singularly feature on COLORBLIND. Reality also ensures the inclusion of the South African National Anthem by the same group.

Graças a Deus que aos 80 anos de idade Clint Eastwood continua em grande forma a realizar filmes como este, para deleite de todos quantos apreciam essa coisa cada vez mais rara que dá pelo nome de Cinema. Numa altura em que a tecnologia de um qualquer Avatar é enaltecida como "arte fílmica" é reconfortante ver e ouvir algo como INVICTUS. Tendo como pano de fundo o Campeonato do Mundo de rugby em que os Springboks da África do Sul se sagraram pela primeira vez campeões em 1995, o filme vai muito mais além e dá-nos a conhecer a figura de um mito, o grande Nelson Mandela. Se existem homens únicos e insubstituíveis Mandela foi sem qualquer dúvida um dos maiores. A sua generosa humanidade toca-nos a todos bem fundo, naquele lugar onde, muitas vezes sem o suspeitarmos, guardamos aquilo que de melhor se encontra em nós.
