Tyrant’s Legion and Salvagers

I managed to add a few more units to the Tyrant’s Legion. As mentioned before, the more elite units are called Armsmen and their rules a quite flexible. They can be upgraded with carapace armour and an assortment of special and heavy weapons. They basically operate as Imperial Guard stormtroopers. Several years ago I managed to snag a pile of the old metal storm troopers from 3rd edition. I had no viable plan for them, but they’re some of my favourite gw sculpts. With my Tyrants legion project they finally found a purpose. I painted enough for two full squads with a few extra to round out the squads with heavy bolters and auto cannons. The heavy weapon troopers are from Mad Robot Miniatures who made a fairly faithful representation of the original models.

Next up is a group of space salvage workers from Anvil Industry. These are 3d prints in 28mm scale. Curt demonstrates the came scrap jacks at Prairiecon and I decided to pick up my own crew shortly after. Crew members can have different trades which I represented with different colours. Blue for medical, ochre for mechanics, purple for electronics and green for security.

Submissions for the Painting Challenge

Here are my submissions for the 16th Analogue Hobbies Painting Contest. Most of my entries have been for my Badab War Tyrant's Guard army project. Enjoy!

Command Squad

Armsmen

Legion Auxilia

Turrets to swap out my steel legion chimeras

2 Leman Russ and a Thunderer tank.

I did a brief detour into another project of mine related to the fallout games. Using Horus Heresy models and some appropriate bits on Etsy and elsewhere, I've recreated/reinterpreted T-51b power armour from the Fallout video games.

Steel Legion Roughriders

I finally finished a 10-man unit of roughriders for the Steel Legion. I copied Dave Taylor and converted gas masks onto Bretonnian warhorses for the mounts. I think they came out pretty well. The riders are from Mad Robot Miniatures and they’re all armed with explosive hunting lances. Not sure how these will do against Dallas’ sisters, but they’re not a lot of points and should be pretty entertaining.

I also completed a second unit for The Doomed! The Reborn Covens are a group that have turned to genetic manipulation in order to survive. This faction is probably the most wide open to conversion. I kept it mine simple and used 40k orks and heads swapped with pig heads from Max Mini. They went on ok, but require some shaving of the neck joint to fit properly. Painted in flesh tone they look like humans that have spliced their DNA with animals to make a stronger, more robust warrior.
