Augustins no.16
Size : a (b) c (d) e (f) g (h).
Your bust circumference : 80 (90) 100 (110) 120 (130) 140 (150) cm.
Full length, measured from the shoulder and downwards : 52 (54) 56 (58) 60 (62) 64 (66) cm.
Positive ease : This blouse is created to be fitted around the bust, and are therefore without any
positive ease. The fit is free from the waist down and at the sleeves.
When you’re deciding which size to knit, choose the one which corresponds to your own actual
bust circumference.
Gauge : 16 sts x 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch at needle size 6 mm.
Needle size : Circular needles 4,5 + 5 + 6 mm ( 40 / 60 / 80 cm).
Yarn : The blouse is knitted with 2 types of yarn held together.
1st thread: “Alpaca / Merino / Cotton Fluff ”, Sabina Siestø (400 m pr 100g).
2nd thread: “Silk Mohair”, Sabina Siestø (420 m pr 50g).

Or, alternatively the following combination:

1st thread: “New Zealandsk lammeuld”, G-uld (450 m pr 100g).
2nd thread: “Soft Silk Mohair”, Knitting for Olive (225 m pr 25g).
Amount :
1st thread: 300 (350) 400 (450) 500 (550) 600 (650)g.
2nd thread: 150 (175) 200 (225) 250 (275) 300 (325)g.
Other : Thin elastic band (approx 2 mm) for the neckline and waist.
The use of elastic band is important for the blouse to obtain the right fit!
Work : The blouse is knitted top-down in the round in Stockinette Stitch. First, the top of the
blouse is knitted and then, when reaching the waist, increases are made to create the volumi-
nous peplum skirt, which is finished by a folded hem. Stitches for the puffy sleeves are then
picked up along the cast on row of the top. The sleeves are worked in the round and each has
a broad folded wrist hem, which creates the sculpted effect of the sleeve. Hereafter, stitches are
picked up along the neckline to create a finishing i-cord edge and ruffle. Lastly, 2 shaped ribbons
are knitted in the round and attached at each side of the top. The blouse is finished by inserting
an elastic band into the hem of the waist and neckline.
Pattern

Before you begin

Please read the entire pattern before casting on.

Be sure to make a swatch before you begin, to ensure the right gauge.

Increasing method, skirt and ruffle: When increases are made for the peplum skirt and
neckline ruffle, the method KFB and KFBF is used. If you’re not familiar with the increasing
method, a helpful video guide, created by Garnstudio, can be found at:
https://www.garnstudio.com/video.php?id=237&lang=dk.

Kitchener Stitch : When the ribbions are attached to the top of the blouse, the Kitchener
Stitch method is being used. If you’re not familiar with the technique, a helpful video guide
created by Kimmie Munkhom, can be found at:

Top
With circular needles 5 mm, cast on 112 (128) 144 (160) 176 (192) 208 (224) sts and
gather work. Place a M in the strand between the first and the last st = BOR and CB.
Then, place a marking thread at each side of the work and let these 2 stay, as they indicate
from where you later must pick up sts for the sleeves. sM1 is placed in the strand after
the 28. (32.) 36. (40.) 44. (48.) 52. (56.) st and sM2 in the strand after the 84. (96.) 108.
(120.) 132. (144.) 156. (168.) st.

K in the rnd until the top measures 18 (19) 20 (21) 22 (23) 24 (25) cm or preferred length.
On the next rnd, bind off all sts loosely and break yarn.

At the last row of the top, place a marking thread at each side of the work and let these
2 stay, as they indicate from where you later must pick up sts for attaching the ribbons.
sM1 is placed in the strand after the 28. (32.) 36. (40.) 44. (48.) 52. (56.) st and sM2 in the
strand after the 84. (96.) 108. (120.) 132. (144.) 156. (168.) st.

Skirt
With circular needle 5 mm, pick up 112 (128) 144 (160) 176 (192) 208 (224) sts from the
RS along the bind off row of the top - start at CB.
Place a M between the first and last st which was picked up = CB and BOR.
After having picked up sts, knit the first rnd in the following way:
*KFBF* - repeat *-* throughout the rnd.
There are now 336 (384) 432 (480) 528 (576) 624 (672) sts on the needle.
Change to circular needles 6 mm and k in the rnd until the skirt measures 15 (16) 17 (18)
19 (20) 21 (22) cm, or preferred length.

Now, the folded hem must be knitted.

Continue in the following way:
On the next rnd, switch to circular needles 5 mm and k 6 rnds.
Place a M in the 6th rnd - the M indicates the horizontal row where the body must be
folded to create the finishing hem.
K 6 rnds.
Bind off all sts and break yarn.
Fold in the bind off row to the WS by the marked row, and sew to fasten it.

Sleeves
Now, sts for the first sleeve must be established, picking up sts along the cast on row of
the top as well as casting on a series of additional sts.
This is done in the following way:

Start at sM1 by the cast on row.

With circular needle 6 mm, pick up 15 sts along the cast on row.
In continuation of the picked up sts, cast on 56 (58) 60 (62) 64 (66) 68 (70) sts.
In continuation of the sts casted on, pick up 15 sts along the cast row, starting 15 sts to
the right of sM1.
You are now back at sM1 and have 86 (88) 90 (92) 94 (96) 98 (100) sts in total on the
needle. Place a M in the strand between the first and last st = BOR.

K in the rnd until the sleeve measures 53 (54) 55 (56) 57 (58) 59 (60) cm, or preferred
length. On the next rnd, dec are made to make the sleeve puffy.
Continue in the following way:
*k2tog* throughout the rnd.
There are now a total of 43 (44) 45 (46) 47 (48) 49 (50) sts on the needle.
On the next rnd, dec 13 (12) 11 (10) 9 (8) 7 (6) sts evenly.
There are now a total of 30 (32) 34 (36) 38 (40) 42 (44) sts on the needle.

Now, the broad folded wrist hem must be knitted.

Continue in the following way:
Change to circular needles 4,5 mm.
K in the rnd for 15 cm and place a M in the last row - the M indicates the horizontal row
where the body must be folded to create the finishing hem.
K in the rnd for additional 15 cm, bind off all sts and break yarn.
Fold in the bind off row to the WS by the marked row, and sew to fasten it.

Repeat instructions for the 2nd sleeve.

I-cord neckline
Now, an i-cord must be knitted onto the neckline of the blouse.
This is done in the following way:
Start at CB of the neckline.
With circular needles 5 mm, pick up 164 (184) 204 (224) 244 (264) 284 (304) sts from the
RS, along the the cast on rows of the top and sleeves - this total sts count corresponds to
picking up 1 st in each strand round along the neckline.
Break the yarn and let the sts rest on the needle.

From the RS, cast on 4 sts onto the right side needle and p the 4 sts.
The 4 sts are now at the left side needle and are placed in continuation of the neckline sts.

Continue by knitting the i-cord in the following way:

*k 3, k2tog tbl (1 st from the i-cord + 1 st from the neckline), slip the 4 sts back onto the
left side needle*. Repeat from * to * until all sts from the skirt have been knitted.
Bind off, break the yarn and sew the ends of the i-cord discretely together from the WS.

Ruffle
Now, sts for the ruffle, which runs along the i-cord neckline, must be picked up.
With circular needles 5 mm and starting CB from the RS, pick up 164 (184) 204 (224)
244 (264) 284 (304) sts evenly counter clockwise, following the first row just below the
i-cord edge.
Place a M in the strand between the first and last st = BOR and CB.
Knit the first rnd in the following way:
*KFB* throughout the rnd.
There are now a total of 328 (368) 408 (448) 488 (528) 568 (604) sts on the needle.

K in the rnd until the ruffle measures 6 cm.

Now, the picot edge must be knitted.
Knit the next rnd in the following way:
*yo, k2tog* throughout the rnd.
K in the rnd for additional 6 cm.
Bind off all sts and break the yarn.
Fold the edge to the WS by the picot row and sew to fasten it.

Ribbons
Now, 2 separate ribbons must be knitted and then sewn onto the blouse. The ribbons are
placed by the bottom marked sM1 and sM2.

Knit ribbon 1 in the following way:

With circular needles 5 mm, cast on 70 sts and place a M in the strand between the first
and last st = BOR and M1. Also, place a M in the strand after the 35. st = M2.
M1 indicates the top of the ribbon, whilst M2 indicates the bottom of the ribbon.
On the next rnd, begin to dec in the following way:
1st rnd : k2tog tbl, k until 2 sts remain, k2tog.

Repeat the 1st rnd in a total of 20 times - there are now 30 sts on the needle.

Continue to dec, but now only on every second rnd:

1st rnd : k2tog tbl, k until 2 sts remain, k2tog.
2nd rnd : k throughout the rnd.

Repeat the 1st and 2nd rnd in a total of 12 times - there are now 6 sts on the needle.
Continue to k in the rnd over the remaining 6 sts, until the ribbon measures 110 (115)
120 (125) 130 (135) 140 (145) cm in total. Break the yarn and pull the thread through
the remaining sts.

The broad end of the ribbon must now be knitted together, using the 3-needle bind of
method - please note that 2 pcs of 5 mm circular needles are used for this technique.
Continue in the following way:

With the 1st circular needle 5 mm, pick up 35 sts along the first part of the cast on row -
start at M1 and finish at M2.
Change to the 2nd circular needle 5 mm and pick up 35 sts along the last part of the cast
on row - start at M2 and finish at M1.
Place the 2 needles with their WS facing each other, so that the ribbon will be knitted
together from the RS.
*K2tog* (1 st from each needle) throughout the row.
There are now a total of 35 sts on the needle.
Let the sts rest.

Knit ribbon 2 in the same way as ribbon 1 - however, please note that when ribbon 2 is
knitted together at the end with the 3- needle bind off method, the sts are knitted *p2tog*
throughout the row instead of *k2tog*.

Attaching the ribbons

Now, stitches must be picked up at he top, starting from the sM1 placed at the bottom of
the top.
This is done in the following way:

With needle size 5 mm, pick up 35 sts vertically in the row marked by sM1 - start at the
bottom and pick up sts towards the top.
Let the 35 sts rest.
Now ribbon 1 must be sewn onto the blouse by using Kitchener Stitch (for this you’ll use
2 sets 5 mm circular needles). This is done in the following way:
Place the sts of ribbon 1 on the first 5 mm needle and the picked up sts of the top on the
second 5 mm needle.

Place the 2 needles with their WS facing each other, and with the bottom of the ribbon
(M2) meeting the bottom of the top. Sew the two pieces together from the RS with Kitch-
ener Stitch.

Repeat instructions for ribbon 2.

Finishing
Weave in all ends.
From the WS of the neckline, pull a thin elastic thread through the i-cord edge and fas-
ten, to ensure that the blouse doesn’t drop from shoulders.
From the WS, pull a thin elastic band through the bind off row of the body, to make the
waist more fitted and draped.
Rinse the blouse by hand in luke warm water with a bit of wool soap and then let it dry
laying flat.
