Seize the Birthday

Our Lesley is starting another Challenge.  It's called Seize the Birthday.  It's starting January 10th, but Lesley is having a Linky Party right now.

All you need to do is create a new post on your blog with a birthday card you have made in the past or a newly create birthday card. No back linking please. You may use a card you created in the past but please create a new post for it.

This is a card that I made a while back and never posted.  I thought this was a good occasion to bring it out.

I'm really excited about this challenge!  Lesley's Merry Monday challenge was a big help in having my Christmas cards ready and mailed early.  I'm hoping this challenge will keep me caught up on my birthday cards too.

My daughters and I have a tradition of getting together in December to bake cookies.  We refer to it as Cookie Day and look forward to it as much as Christmas.  Sadly, our grandson Gavin has the flu so they couldn't come.  We baked and baked though and I'm on sugar overload!  It's always so nice to be together.

So glad you could stop by.  Wish I could give you a cookie.

Enjoy!

SENTIMENTtal Journey

This week's Less is More challenge is to use the sentiment as the focus of a one layer card.  It took a couple of tries, but I finally got there.  This was my first try.

As I was adding my watermark, I thought maybe it needed a frame around the sentiment.  It just looked kind of boring.  So I took it to my table and worked on it.  Totally ruined it! Grrrh!

So I started over with a different sentiment and this is what I came up with this go round....

Now this was a lot more fun!

This card works for the CAS challenge this week on SCS which is an inspiration challenge.  Here is the inspiration picture.

Don't you just love those bright colors?

Sometimes the  journey is round about and doesn't end up where we envisioned.  But then sometimes the detours and the final destination are better than what we anticipated in the first place!  I love it when that happens!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bring on the Cake, Crazy for Cupcakes
Ink:  Black StazOn, SU Markers (Brights & Subtles)
Paper:  Whisper White
Accessories:  Corner Rounder

Thanks for stopping in to visit and for the lovely comments you leave.

Enjoy the journey!

Good-bye Sale-a-bration 2011

One last card with a Sale-a-bration set....for awhile anyway!

The layout is from Paper Players #40 to use this sketch....

The colors, or should I say colour, is from the Jac-Inks challenge to use any combination of In Colors.  Here are this year's In Colors....

I chose to go monochromatic with the Peach Parfait.

Then I saw that at the SUO (Stampin' Up Only) blog the challenge is to do a Birthday card.  That narrowed down the choices for a sentiment.

And, at Stampin' Celebration the challenge is to use this photo for inspiration....

I think this card fits this challenge too.

Is that four challenges?  I think that's sets a record for me!  Now if I can remember where to drop them off.

I'm so glad you visited today. I hope you have found some inspiration here.

Enjoy!

Nature Walkin' Again

Can you guess that I love this stamp set?  I have several new sets that I know I should use, but I keep pulling this one out again and again.

Actually, I had stamped several of these Robins trying different techniques.  I'm not sure I can even tell which technique was which!  I think I inked this one with markers or watercolor crayons and spritzed before stamping on watercolor paper.  Which ever it was, it was very light and not too appealing.  So I pulled out my Stamp-a-majig and stamped over the waterdrowned watercolored bird after inking with markers, no spritzing.  I probably couldn't get it to look like this again in a million years!  This is truly a one of a kind card!

I used a mask before stamping the flowers around so he didn't look so bare.

I also used the Stamping 411 Color Inspriation 149

I love this color combination and it seemed perfect for this image.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Nature Walk, Bring on the Cake (Another Occasions Mini set)
Ink:  Early Espresso, SU Markers (Early Espresso, Peach Parfait, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake)
Paper: Watercolor, Naturals White, Early Espresso, Peach Parfait
Accessories:  Big Shot, Sweet Buttons Embosslit, Raffia, Embroidery Floss

And in case you're interested, here's another messed up fixed up Robin.

This time I overstamped it with Crumb Cake and Peach Parfait.  The peach has a very different look on the smooth paper.

I think I'm through with Robins for a while.  Or then again.....

Enjoy,
Bonnie
