Embossed Daisies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A few weeks ago I received an unexpected gift from a sweet, sweet friend.

She had cleaned out her craft room and I was lucky enough to receive the
benefit of her industriousness!  This embossing folder was in the box
along with several others.  I do love embossing folders!

I embossed a piece of my new favorite yellow cardstock and patted my
white inkpad over the raised parts.  I kept turning the piece and patting until
I was happy with the coverage.  Then I took a tiny blending brush and after inking
it, I tapped it on the centers.  Some twine, a sentiment tucked among the flowers
and a die cut bee finished it off nicely.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Use an embossing folder/twist of bees
Double D - Used the colors of the lemons
Triple B - Birds, Butterflies & Blooms

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Just Sentiments: Summer Mini (PTI)
Ink:   White, Pumpkin Pie (SU), Nocturne (VC)
Paper:   C9 Buttercup, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Fresh Daisies EF (SSS), Buzzing Bumblebees die (MB), Sharpies (to color bee)

Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Feathers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I am so ready for fall.  Unfortunately it doesn't seem like fall is
ready to show up.  But, in the studio it can be any season I want.

I had a set of feather dies in my NBUS box and added an older feather die to
make a trio of feathers.  They were cut from some mixed media paper and
smooshed in puddles of watered ink.  I'm not sure what kind of bird they would
have come from,  Maybe a turkey?  I was in the mood for fall colors and I didn't
even think about a bird until they were done.

I dipped the edges of the colored feathers in VersaMark and added gold embossing
powder and heated. The photo doesn't show the golden edges very well.

They were added on an embossed background and I added some tiny gold punched
circles into the embossing.

Challenges:
Double D - Feathers
I.D.E.A.S. - Die Week
NBUS #89 - Never Before Used Schtuff

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Thankful for Fall (PTI)
Ink:   Warm Cocoa (GKD), VersaMark
Paper:   Fine Linen (PTI), Neenah Natural, Mixed Media (Strathmore)
Other:  Distress re-inkers (Carved Pumpkin, Tea Dye, Spiced Marmalade, Vintage Photo), Jumbo Curiosity Feather die (Grtry), Feather die (HA), Feathers on the side EF (Darice), Gold EP, Linen Thread

Enjoy!

Cheerful and Brighter Days

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Recently two friends had surgery.
I had been playing with some new Alex Syberia die sets and pulled
out another set that's just a little bit older, and they seemed to be just
the ticket for feel better cards.

For this first card, I paired the new to me Winter Foliage dies with that sweet bird from
the Cheerful Meadow set.

The foliage was cut from white cardstock and the ink was brushed on with
blender brushes.  The bird was cut from mixed media paper and watercolored
with Distress Ink.

For the second card, I used the same bird die and a sweet rainbow.  All were
cut from mixed media paper and watercolored with Distress Re-inkers.

I wish you cheerful, brighter days too.

Challenges:
Double D - Potpourri (see mood board below.  I was inspired by the rainbow & arches.
NBUS #88 - Never Before Used Schtuff (This is a special month at NBUS! Be sure to check it out)
Triple B - ATG Birds, Butterflies & Blooms (didn't use the phot inspiration)

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  From my Heart (Stampendous)
Ink:   Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral, Rustic Wilderness (DI), Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Cheerful Meadow dies, Winter Foliage (AS), Regency Swirls EF (Gemini), Stitched Hexagons dies (MB)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:  Weather Together (ret SU)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black

Little Guy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you've had a nice week and have a good weekend on tap.

This card was done with an image that a sweet friend stamped and sent to me a
couple years ago.  I pulled out some Zigs and colored it.  The background is kind of
free handed.  Nothing special but a fun image to color.

Challenges:

Easter Bunnies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Easter's on it's way!

I think these Alex Siberia bunnies are so cute!
There are other critter dies in this set.  I'm anxious to use them too.

We have brown bunnies in our yard.  Hubby feeds them Cheerios and
they will hop up to him to get them.  These bunnies were cut from white
cardstock and colored with Distress Ink and a finger dauber.

I used a cover plate die for the background.  The label is from a retired Stampin'
Up set and the sentiment is by Papertrey Ink (PTI).

Here's another card that I did with friends last week.

I think this one was everyone's favorite!

Challenges:
A Cut Above - ATG using die cuts
Double D  - Easter/Church/Cross

Card Recipe

Love Bookmark

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I usually read on my Kindle and don't need bookmarks, but I do use actual books
for my Bible and study books.  I love having a pretty bookmark to save my place.

These backgrounds were done by blowing colored bubbles in a cup and dipping the
cardstock into the bubbles.  You can read more about this technique on this post.

I made one for each of my small group study partners.  They were very well received.

Challenges:
Double D - Bookmarks or stamps
Penny Black Saturday - ATG using Penny Black

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Delicate Florals (PB), Faith (PB)
Ink:   Versafine Clair Nocturne, Distress Inks

Vintage Valentines

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I seldom do vintage or shabby chic cards.  I don't know why because I think they're
so pretty and feminine.  When I saw the mood board for the Double D Challenge,
I knew I wanted to give it a try.

I pulled some light pink cardstock from the misc. drawer and embossed
it with a script embossing folder.  The heart was cut from a retired SU die set from
Speckled Eggshell cardstock that I thought had a vintage feel.

Some more French script was stamped lightly on the heart and the edges were
brushed with light pink ink.

I stamped this sweet rosebud on mixed media paper and colored with Distress re-inkers.
When it was dry, I used the die to cut it out. It's a reminder to me of how much I enjoy watercolor.

I thought about brushing the edges of the pink background but I was happy
with it and decided to leave that off.  I hope it's still vintage looking or shabby chic.

While the stamps with the script were out, I spotted this bird stamp and decided
to make another card in this style.

I used a different embossing folder and more stamping on the heart.  I colored
the stamped flowers with pencils and added a few branches. The bird was stamped
with Memento ink. Then I used my waterbrush to add some inks to color him up.
He was fussy cut and added to the front.

Since I have three daughters, I thought it would be a good idea to do another
card in this style...

This time I pulled out a 3D flower that I did years ago. I thought the colors were
just right.

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been having lots of fun playing with some Christmas presents.

Christmas gift.  I'm so glad he complied!

The Snow Notes are at it again.  They're on tour and singing their
hearts out to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

I spent so much time with these guys that I feel like I should name them. LOL.

Each one uses a piece of decorative paper in the background.

and look at what my friend Jan did for a Christmas present for another friend.
It's in a shadow box so there's lots of texture and dimension.

See that little guy with the snowballs?  She finished it off with a snowball splatted on the tree
and a stack of snowballs ready to be thrown.  Didn't she do a great job?
