A land of beauty, tradition and conflict; North Ixia is no stranger to brutal political violence. So when Apollo was told that it was for his own safety he was being sent to New York for school, he knew the situation was serious.
Adjusting to life at Blackmore Academy didn’t come easy to Apollo. His school was supposed to be filled with The Cursed Apple’s best and brightest but all he saw, with few exceptions, was a sea of aggressive mediocrity. Electing not to waste his time with frivolous things like parties and dances, he instead put his energy on the piste, where he rigorously trains as captain of the Blackmore fencing team.
However, at the end of the day Apollo does not fret too much on the tedium of life in New York. He knows that eventually the time will come when his father will call on him to come home and he will get to show that he is worthy of wielding his family's ancestral blade.
Apollo's wish is unknown, but he seems to be fighting in the ritual for the sake of Ixia.[1][2] He also seems to be fighting to test his skills and honor his family's name.[3][4]
Born in Ixia, Apollo is the son and only child of the current ruler of North Ixia.[5] Referred to as "the Prince of Ixia",[6] Apollo was raised to value loyalty, honor, and his Ixian culture.[7][8][9] Growing up, Apollo was taught fencing at a young age, having learned Riposte when he was only 5 years old.[10] As Apollo got older, conflicts in North Ixia were rising, and Apollo was eventually told that, for his own safety, he was being sent to New York.[11] It's implied that Apollo still visits Ixia from time to time.[12]
Now a student at Blackmore Academy, Apollo decided that, instead of wasting time going to parties and dances, he'd spend his free time training rigourously with his family's ancestral blade, preparing for the day his father would call on him to come home.[11]
In the current day, Apollo is 18 years old.[13] He's the captain of Blackmore Academy's fencing team and seems to be a fencing champion,[14] hoping to one day represent Ixia at the Olympics.[15][16] With the upcoming Maelstrom, Apollo is participating in the ritual to honor his family name and to test his skills.[3][4]
Ixian is Apollo's native language.[17] His ultimate "Itani Lo Sahn" is Ixian for "I have no equal".[18]
Apollo says his life has been personally affected by political assassinations.[19] Notably, while he speaks often of his father, he never mentions his mother.
Apollo holds his Ixian culture in very high regard.[9][20] He refers to the other playable Ixians, Abrams and Infernus, as his "brothers".[21][22] While Apollo doesn't hate humans, he believes Ixians are above them.[23][24] Apollo is content at Blackmore Academy,[25] but he refuses to see New York as his home and is only there because his father wanted him to be.[26][27]
Apollo is extremely confident in his skills and believes himself to be the best.[28][29] He holds honor and discipline in high regards.[30][8][31] His attitude often causes other characters to regard him as vain.[32][33]
Apollo believes he is in the prime of his life and can't waste it making memories.[34][35]
Apollo's father is referred to as a warlord, and has the authority equivalent to a governor and a general.[40]
Apollo is proud of his father and believes his father is proud of him.[41] While mentioned that Apollo's father expects great things from him,[42] Apollo claims that he isn't fighting in the ritual for his father.[43]
Apollo's father says "loyalty is everything" and "the first step to victory begins with crushing the enemy's hope".[7][44]
Graves and Apollo are classmates at Blackmore Academy, and are each other's lab partners.[47]
Apollo believes Graves is a "decent" lab partner, but disapproves of her truancy.[48] Graves calls Apollo "the Golden Boy",[49] and doesn't hate Apollo as much as she wishes she did.[50]
Graves and Apollo are familiar with each other's parents, and insult each other over their parental relationships.[51]
Apollo is shocked that Infernus doesn't speak Ixian nor care for Ixian culture.[55][56] Infernus thinks Apollo "made being Ixian his whole personality".[57]
Apollo doesn't respect Pocket for running away "from their obligations",[58] and believes they "pissed away" their chance to have the world at their fingertips.[59]
Apollo respects Ivy but believes she shouldn't have saved Spanish Harlem, believing that they should've saved themselves rather than rely solely on Ivy.[60][61]
