This 2016 staging in Brussels is in English and uses a mostly English Cast . This was a modern dress production, set in a psychiatric ward, but you wouldn’t know it from listening to these discs as the score has happily not been ‘improved’ (Who would want to tamper with Sondheim anyway). The sound is excellent and well-balanced sounding like a radio or TV broadcast (I can’t find any mention of it having been broadcast). Incidentally, George Ure (Tobias) and Paul Charles Clarke (Pirelli) also appeared in the WNO production.
