Lissanne's Bloodbowl OWAC VI Wrap-up

And another OWAC in the books.   No points this time, but here is what I ended up with:

15 Players including Star Players for the Dwarven team, the Eldorado Goldiggers (the whole team is in the shot- more than the 15)

4 Chaos Warriors and a Beastman Cheerleader to complete the Queen's Marauders team  (oops they didn't make it into the money shot, LOL, I forgot)

16 player Ogre/Snotling team, the Tigers of Scourge, plus Apothocary, Cheerleader, Fans and 2 Star  Players

16 player Dark Elf team, the X-elves

16 player Wood elf team, the Harlequins

4 Hobbits to start a team, the Mighty Ducks

Galak Starscraper, storm giant ref
Two entry towers
And a concession stand!

That's 75 figures all told.  Not the most I've done for OWAC, but far from the least!  And as I mentioned before, I have now painted all the Bloodbowl figs I own at the moment.

It's the busy season for me, so that concludes my OWAC and my wrap up.  Congratulations to all the other challengers for a great job!

Lissanne's June Bloodbowl- Wildcard month- Dusty Odds and Ends

Did I get the oversize stadium done?  No.  But I did do the two entry towers for the teams, a ref and a concession stand.  This is the month of painting things gathering dust for a decade +.

These two towers have been sitting about forever, and I always intended for them to be part of my Bloodbowl stadium.  They got a refresher paint job.  Not difficult, as they were grey to begin with.  But done.

Another thing sitting about for decades and decades was this Giant.  I got it for free, but always thought it was a bit lame.  But I just got the bright idea to make him a ref.  A really big ref.  It only took a little bit of conversion on the sword hand to make it work.  And it is a storm giant for game play.

Rat on a stick!  Rat on a stick!  With or without fur and bits.
The concession stand began life as an unassembled Lionel lumber yard.  A neighbor gave it to me when she moved, and it also has been sitting about for a decade.  It is full of running gags from our D&D game, where the Bloodbowl games take place.  Cleric Skye Pilot has been running a concession stand, which has expanded.  Originally it was just Rat on a stick.  We had an adventure where low levels were collecting rats for the Rat on a stick franchise.

There are team flags with nice sturdy 2 x 4's so you can show the opposing fans you support your team in a real and personal way!  Temporary creations from Charade, most of these get broken over the heads of fans anyway.

Wild Turkey sake, mage Wild Turkey started a local sake farm when he found rice (long story).  The town drink.  Another character started a cranberry bog, so there is cranberry flavored sake.  Run by Wendy, another cleric.
Fruity drinks for the kids- (with only a little sake),  This one came out of my mouth during gameplay, as my grandma the flapper used to say it.  She thought it was ok for kids to drink, LOL!  It has become a recurring phrase in gameplay.

And I modified some art I did for a failed wargame into Hooligan's posters.  The Hooligans are the home team.  And the Rat on a Stick franchise is mobile.  I told you it was popular, so will get used in other places.

So with that ends my OWAC.  Getting some of the stadium done is better than none!

Lissanne's Wood Elf Bloodbowl team- the Harlequins

Here is my last standard month team, the Harlequins, a Wood Elf team.

Yes, I did use harlequins to supplement the Wood Elf figs I had.  I always intended to.  Before anyone gets concerned, I used only harlequins that were doubles and triples of ones I had. Also, do you know HOW MANY TIMES the harlequins have had their weapons list changed since their inception?  Seriously, the original Harlequin lists changed weapons so often, things are clipped off and glued on all over the place!  I am a champion at changing weapons!  So I always kept many unaltered copies.

I used the continuity color of my normal Harlequins for these, which is yellow.  That is not odd, since most of us original Harlequin players chose yellow or gold.  For my Lord Arioch, of course.  I pretty sure I never used brown as a harlequin color before this.  It works though.

Unlike normal Harlequins, there are certain pieces of apparel on the team that are uniform.  Like blue gloves, yellow crest, brown /green shoes, etc.  these I painted first.  They all have the same limited color scheme to fit the wood elf theme.  Red, light blue, green, yellow & brown-green.  Sounds like a lot of colors, but it really isn't.  I decided on a different pants pattern for each position for visibility, but this sort of went by the wayside.  But the poses make them easy to pick out on the board.out though.

Don't expect names.  Harlequins give up their names when they join the troupe, so are only known by the role they are playing ATM, or sometimes 'I am called X' name when dealing with outsiders.  So here you get their positions and a number.

The two Wardancers, front and back.  One is a wood elf kicker, not a position in the edition I play.  The other is the most animated of the Harleys

Here are the pair of Throwers

The pair of Catchers

Now for the Nine on the Line  Here is 1 & 2

3 & 4

5, 6 & 7

And 8 & 9

What would an Wood Elf team be without an ent?  I had this mini earmarked for this team for quite some time.  I wanted an artsy looking tree, rather than the standard treemen, who look better on the Hobbit team.

And a shot of the whole team

And with this team, I have painted all the BB minis I own ATM.  I need a few pieces here and there for various teams but don't have them.  And I have a few extra pieces I don't need.  But that is the lot.

So wildcard month...

Wild card month I may do that stadium I was talking about, or at least part of it.
Or not, and take my first ever mulligan.  May 8 I lost my constant companion, Princess, who would have been 19 in June.  She was like an adopted daughter to us.  She died at home with no pain after a short illness, although she was in good health till then. At her age it was a matter of time, but we are still grieving.

Lissanne's X-Elves, Dark Elf April Bloodbowl team

Introducing my Dark Elf team, the X-Elves.
There is always one month you rush a bit on, this time I planned for it.  This is a relatively easy team to paint in order to get a head start on the rather difficult wood elf team I am working on for next month (and doing well on).  They are lovely figures, but fairly new.  However, I don't care much for the old GW team, and these are really nice sculpts.  And I had an good idea of how I wanted to paint them.  So, here are the X-Elves.

Dark elves in our D&D game have a wide variety of skin tones, and it is reflected here.
Names were easy.

                                                   Assassins Wolverine and Cyclops

Runners Rogue and Gambit

                                                  Witch Elves Nightcrawler and Mystique

                                                      Blitzers Sunfire and Phoenix

                                                    Blitzers Banshee and Longshot

                                                         Line Jubilee and Havoc

                                                      Line Quicksilver and Storm

                                                   Line Dazzler and Psylocke

I use the expedient method of having different hair color for the different positions, so they are easy to see what is what when playing.  And here is a back shot.

And for this month's old school minis, since every month should have some old school minis, I present the start of a new team, the Mighty Ducks, a Hobbit team.  Alas, I only have the 4 hobbits.  I was given these little ducks from (I think) Jason Lye, and as soon as I saw them I knew I wanted to use them on their helmets!  They think it makes them look taller.

Someday I will find more hobbits for my Blood Bowl team, but it's a good start.  I have an ent for this team previously painted, but it doesn't count.  So just 5 on the team so far.

And the whole month together- 16 dark elves and 4 hobbits. So 20 figs.

As for next month's wood elf team, here is a preview.  If I don't get all 16 done, I will come very close and finish the rest in my Wild Card month,   Harlequin style is always HARD!  So I have been picking at them every month.   I have pretty much painted everything in my large Blood Bowl tackle box now, which was the point of this OWAC to me!

Lissanne's Tigers of Scourge -March Ogre team (monster/leader month)

Clump clump, clump..."Hey, we wants to play.  We're da Big Guys!"  "Just you five? Here to play ball?"   "We no need ball!"  It was hard to argue with them, but Skye Pilot did get them to change their name to the Tigers of Scourge, and accept some small guys.  Which they happily did when they found they could toss them!

This month, Ogres!  There are a couple of Bloodbowl ogres, a couple of  metal Bloodbowl Orcs which due to scale creep are way too big for orcs, but just right as Ogres, so Ogres they became.  And one more.   Variety is good!
Here are the big guys!

Studs, who decorates himself by driving nails into his body

Spike- Wears a lot of armor.  No one wants to tell them to take off the armor...

Back side shot

This one is half orc half ogre, He calls himself Tiger Eye, the others call him Pee Wee.

Morg n Thorg- Since I have a Morg on the Human team, I can only assume he's playing for both!

And a back shot

Lucky- Ogre blessed by Jubilex and altered somewhat... ok, altered a lot!  He is even dumber than before, and tends to take a bite out of whatever he picks up, snotling, gameball or in this case the ref!  He sure keeps the clerics busy!

I had actually started modifying this troll for the first team I built,  my Orc team, Duri's Hooligans.  but ended up with a better fiigure.  Now this fellow will finally see play!

And 11 Snotlings plus

The Snotlings are all modified to have no weapons and are wearing Bloodbowl gear.  This gives me 11 unique models!   Here are this season's victims...err....recruits.

I also painted an Apothecary

A Cheerleader,

and took the opportunity to paint the drunken fans passed out in their own vomit!

And since Goblin Star Players are allowed, I added Boomer Dribblesnot and Hobbla Blackwort to the roster.

And this is everything

This is probably the most figures I am going to get done in a month this OWAC.   As much as I want to play with my new teams, Battle Reports must go by the wayside, as I picked up a big job (which I love!) and am working hard at that.  Since I paint figs to relax after painting, finishing the OWAC is not an issue, and I have already made progress on April!  We'll see if I can do one or two games for Wildcard month, but sometimes life intervenes.

Til next month!
