Everything has an end : Slaaneshchild's wrap up post !

So everything has an end apparently, even the OWAC !

As I am planning to go on holidays soon, I do my last post as soon as I can. But first of all, the wrap-up picture, behold your dear grim reaper with his minions !

As you can see on the picture, my power is so strong that I can bend reality to my will ! Even the background is disturbed. Mouahah.

This year was pretty exciting, this minotaur warband was pretty fun to paint, I think I never felt too bored about it. They are not on the picture but I already have 9 minotaurs, so, as I painted 15 minotaurs this year, I can now make 4 units of 6 minotaurs each. Impressive, isn't ?

I also painted beastmen in a previous challenge, so I have now 2 units of "gors" and one unit of "bestigors" (remember the vicious snakemen ?), plus hounds, ungors, harpies, and other stuff. It's a big horde !

Here are so details, but you already know all of them :

I also finished those standards I started 3 years ago. They are clearly oversized for the dark elves, but, why not ? They are led by Slaanesh and their kinky mind.

And, last but not least, I played today with my army of minotaurs, it was a pretty interesting game, versus Orcs and Goblins. The minions of Slaanesh have won !

Some pictures of the battle :

here come the minions of the Dark Prince

the approach...

Chaaaaaaarge !!!! The clash of the armies

MOuahah they are weak !!

Gasp !! The dragon is flanking my beastmen !!

Kill them all !!!

Et voilà !

Next year I will be painting undead I think... OR an army of dark elves full of creatures and dragons, to illustrate the artworks of my childhood.

This Ocho was so great !! Can't wait for the next one ! See you on the battlefield !

Bow to your true master ! Worship Slaanesh ! Rank and file month, 6 minotaurs of Slaanesh.

Here they come again, the minotaurs of Slaanesh are back ! With two hand weapons this time...

I had great time converting it but I lost all my motivation to paint them this month. They are a bit speed painted but they are painted. And guess what... I did my first banner !

Here are some separated pictures :

My two favorite ones....

Which one is you favorite ? I love the maniac with his tentacule and knife and the "scratchbuilt one" with Leviatan's symbol on his skeletal head.

So this month...

6 minotaurs with two hand weapons and standard ......... 302 pts

Next month, I will work on my furies I think or maybe my lesser beastmen.

The right music to look at them :

See you next month !

Frank's Great Work Continued - A Daemonic Legion of Slaanesh - Rank & File - February

This month included no end of distractions, both professional and personal, and yet the Legion still grew.

As was the case last month, these new units come from the 'Auxiliaries' allowance of the daemonic legion army list. However, rather than the undead contingent, they come from the general Auxiliaries forces. The Minotaurs are quite straight forward and have their own unit entry which allows up to twenty models, four of whom may be characters. The Harpies, on the other hand, are available through the Legion's 'Creatures of Chaos' allotment. A legion may have up to twenty models from the list provided below. Like creatures are expected to be fielded together, but the list is quite diverse. It includes fairly low maximum numbers, but the Harpies can fill the entire allotment at twenty models.

My unit of Minotaurs, The Pale Worms, began their career as a fairly typical warband of their kind. They easily could have ended up in a Khornate army, like so many of their kin. Their hunger for flesh led them to throw in with a Slaaneshi tyrant for the simple reason that gore-covered fodder was so widely available. As these giant beastmen fed their hunger time after time, they became more and more caught up in the other pleasures the rest of the army was taking part in around them. Before long they were disporting themselves with abandon, while also beautifying themselves with inks, dyes, and tattoos to match their new comrades. By the time they were inducted into a daemonic Legion of Slaanesh, The Pale Worms were entirely unhinged, with a monstrous hunger both cannibalistic and debauched. As a unit in the Legion, The Pale Worms, provide a 'beefy' hard hitting contrast to the bulk of Daemonettes. They are actually cheap enough to still be considered expendable compared to the units of lesser daemons, despite having triple the Wounds of those more expensive models.

This unit consists of five Minotaurs, each worth 40 points a piece, and their leader. The Leader will be a Level 15 Hero bearing a hefty Chaos Weapon shaped like a Slaaneshi icon, valued at 240 points.

My flock of Harpies have an interesting pedigree. Unlike the Minotaurs, who are all classic Citadel Miniatures lead models, these harpies are from a number of sources. I chose to model this with a succubus appearance for theme, rather than include classic harpies, who just look like monsters. The two left most are from Heresy Miniatures and are resin casts. The nice girl perched on the rock is from Hasslefree and is white metal. Next is a third Heresy Miniatures resin model. The last two are from Reaper Miniatures and are board game plastic. The first of the Reaper casts, and the Hasslefree model did not actually have wings, so wings were chosen from other figs to kitbash onto them. I am really happy with the paint scheme taken together.

The harpies role in the legion is pretty sad. No doubt they were flattered and seduced by the Daemonettes to participate, by playing to their vanity. Alas, they have little to no combat value on a daemonic battlefield but do bring other useful traits. First and foremost they have wings, which are relatively rare in a Slaaneshi legion, seen most consistently on the Legion's daemon princes. The other trait is that they are absurdly cheap. The entire flock of six literally costs less than a single Daemonette. Now Khornate legions are led by the dreaded Bloodthirsters, who, of course, fly. They also include blasphemous technological weapons capable of shooting down our mighty daemon princes before they can charge their chosen targets. The harpies positive traits combine to solve this problem by being an expendable screen of ablative meat to ensure my daemon prince gets his moment to shine.

Although I did not get as much painted in February as I had hoped, it was a successful addition to the Legion, and still exceeded the minimums for the OWAC. There were twelve models added to the Legion, I think the Minotaurs might count as two models each, giving an adjusted value of 18. The Harpies are worth a whopping 90 points, which combined with the Minotaurs and their hero adds 530 points to the total.  Maybe next month, I can catch up to my original planning goals...

The most feral of them, first regiment of the army, 6 minotaurs with two handed weapons, Slaaneshchild's January post, rank & file

Beware monsters out of the wasteland.... first start of this new army, a unit of 6 minotaurs... the backbone of my army.
I wanted them to be different but with some find of uniformity. You will recognize one minotaur for RoC, one from Avatar of War, one from Reaper (I think, the skeletal one), and the three last ones are convertions of my own.

The standard bearer was made with an ogre from Fenryll Miniatures (old fashion resin), a keep of secret head and a Knightmare miniature standard sculpted by the almighty Roberth Breseus

The one on the left is again from Fenryll Miniatures, with a GW minotaur head. A classic, easy to make.

And the last one but not the least is made with daemon legs I had in my bitz box for 25 years, a rat ogre torso and a daemon prince head. Pretty disturbing. Of course his big claw is from a GW beast of Slaanesh.

All packed... ready to rampage the old world in the name of the Dark Prince !!

And that's it... that was fast.

6 minotaurs with two handed weapons and standard................................. 308 pts

As it was really fast... I might start painting something new...

EDIT !!!

So... I did something new... I had the time to paint my very own "Tarasque". It is inspired by a monster from medieval folklore from Provence (where I am from). It was supposed to live in the swamp between Arles and Avignon.... eating some villagers until a knight came to destroy it. He then founded the city of Tarascon (inspired by the name Tarasque).

The miniature is, according to Shadespire, a Grenadier Miniatures Tsin Dragon. As I think I am going to play it as a chaos gorgon, I wanted a weird color scheme, something really unnatural.

Here comes the beast !

Feral obscenity and the vilest depravation, here come the Minotaurs of Slaanesh ! Introducing Slaaneshchild next infamous project...

So here we are !! Another OWAC !! I had in mind to build a dark elves army with only dark raiders and dragon riders. But unfortunately, I am a bit short on money at the moment so I can't afford it. I had in mind this project of "only big creatures"... so I unearthed them an I realized I had an entire horde of minotaurs (and friends).

Humm... And what can be more depraved and repulsive than a minotaur dedicated to Slaanesh ?

It works pretty well with my other projects as I did Warriors of Slaanesh for my first OWAC, Daemons of Slaanesh for my second OWAC... this one come beastmen and minotaurs, this is pretty obvious.

Of course, the horde will gather around a Keeper of Secret, this is mandatory to me and KoS looks like a minotaur.

I am also thinking of making a daemon prince, like a former minotaur champion that has risen to daemonhood.
I will have 2 packs of minotaurs, some ungors also, and some Slaangors.

I have also this RP Box that I do want to paint. Those miniatures are dream I couldn't afford when I was a child. So today I am realizing it !! I will play them as harpies. Maybe I will make a regiment of renom of my own.

I have converted Fenryll ogres into minotaurs. And here is their "king" :D
I wanted to make a minotaur shaman, but without creating rules, so here he comes : a minotaur hero with the crown of sorcery... I tryed to make as ridiculous as possible and I am pretty proud of me, he looks scary. He reminds me Art the Clown in Terrorizer.

I also made a minotaur daemon prince... He will be my minotaur lord.

A keeper of secret is also sneaking around...

Behold the master of the Horde !!!!!

The kinkiest baggage train ever !!!!

In Provence, we have a legend of a monster name "La Tarasque". It was supposed to live in the swamp between Avignon and Arles during the Middle Age. I had this weird miniature and I decided to add it to my horde. I will play it as a medusa or an hydra.

My beastmen. Some are creatures from RAFM and Metal Magic Dunwitch Detective range, some are very old citadel minatures, some just oldhammer stuff, It will work well together.

Here are my ungors/lesser beastmen/thug, depending on which edition I am playing with. They are orcs from LotR from RP range I think. Those miniatures are fantastic. I am impressed by the lever of detail.

Everything comes to an end, here is my army list ! (4th ed army list)
