Mustafa’s month VI: Even more rank and file!

In by the skin of my teeth!!! Excuse the awful photos but it’s midnight here in Japan and that’s the best I could manage.

Another 350pts of jump pack wearing psycho killers!!!

The bases aren’t done I’m afraid but they will be in time for the final blog post, promise ;)

Mustafa’s month V: Rank and file #4

Nothing surprising here I’m afraid. More assault marines for the assault marine army!

I did manage to get a land speeder done as well which is a little variety I guess.

Not especially happy with this lot as I had to rush them a bit, but they’ll get the job done at arm’s length and on the table.

As for points, it’ll be 350 for the jump pack lads and the land speeder is 145, so just short of 500 points.

Mustafa’s month IV: Rank and file #3, tank time!

As cool as jump pack marines are, they are somewhat lacking in the firepower department.

Figured it was time to give them something with a bit more “oomph” to it!

I printed this bad boy a while ago but never really had the opportunity to put him on an army. The last two marine armies I did were not particularly speedy, so this he didn’t really fit in with them, but hell be perfect for my Blood Angel Assault Army!

In OPR games I’ll probably run him as one of the new anti gravity tanks from GW as he’s far too large to be a regular landspeeder. In games or 2nd edition I’ll probably run him as a command Predator.

Anyway, here’s the whole army so far. Cheers for looking!

Mustafa’s month III: Leader.

A pretty humble offering this month as I was quite busy.

I chose this guy to be the captain as I’ve always liked his brutal, chunky armour.

Captain: 96pts

Chainsword: 2pts

Plasma Pistol: 5pts

Jump pack: 5pts

He clocks in at 108 points total.

That brings the current army total to 808pts.

Here he is with his fellow flying psychos.

Mustafa’s month II: Rank and file, more of the same!

What a surprise! A space marine assault army get…more assault marines!

This lot are exactly the same as last month’s lots. 350 points of fast, jumpy, killy-killy.

They turned out darker than the first lot as I’m still playing around with what works best when using contrast paints. Still, good enough for on the table.

Cheers :)

Mustafa’ month 1: Rank and File

First month is the bread and butter of the army, the humble jump pack assisted assault marines.

9 space marines and 1 sergeant. I decided to go with Blood Angels as I rarely paint minis in red and wanted to see how well the GW contrast paints work. So far, so good!

I may go back over and add some chipping and weathering on the edges, but for now I, calling them done.

As for points, these bad boys clock in at 350 points of gravity defying killiness!!!

Mustafa’s OWAC VIII intro post. The Beakies Ride Again!!!

 Evening everyone :)

It was 5:20 am here in Japan and I was just about to leave for the airport, but as I posted this in the wrong blog and only just realised it is now 8pm here in Singapore and I’m now waiting for my return flight to Japan so this’ll be short and sweet (much like me! )

I’ll be doing beakies again this year, but it’ll be a fast moving force of jump pack marines and cavalry, plus a land speeder for a bit of support.

The plan is to do four squads of marines, 2 squads of 3 cav (forgot to put the 6th guy in the picture), 1 HQ, and the land speeder. Plans may change of course, but this is what I’m hoping to get done.

All of that clocks in at just over 1900 points. Still not decided on a chapter though!

Cheers!

Mustafa’s Beakies: Wrap Up. Why paint one army when you can paint two?

Should’ve done this a few day ago, but better late than never I say!

It’s nice to have a finished RT looking space marine army, especially one that includes some tanks.

I had quite a lot of fun painting these. The sculpts are lovely BigMrTong ones (aside from the HQ and squad leaders), and were an absolute joy to paint. They lent themselves very well to drybrushing and washes as they have lots of interesting lines and details compared to the old RTB01 lads.

So, as the title suggests, I actually painted two armies at the same time. The second one is a small 1st company Ultramrine force. The squads are all three-man ones as I’ll be using the army for One Page Rules. I was tempted to do them in the same colour scheme, but I wanted to avoid boredom.

Anyway, here are some pics :)

What’s next for the Emperor’s finest? Well, I reckon they need some fast support so it’ll be jump packs and speeders next year!

Mustafa’s Beakies: Month VI, Wildcard

My army is done and dusted, and way over 1000pt so I decide to keep it simple for my last month.

A single, lonely dreadnought rounds out the army.

175 pts for the walking coffin as he has a power fist with storm bolter and a missile launcher.

He’s as weathered and battered as all his living battle brothers, and much in need of repairs!

Mustafa’s Beakiees: Month V, rank and file

I had a bit of a conundrum this month and I printed a couple of vindicators thinking they were in the 2nd Ed codex only to find that they didn’t rear their chunky heads until 3rd Ed!!

Cursing my stupidity I pulled at what little hair I have left stressing over a solution, only to find that some bright spark on the interwebz had already come up with an answer for all my woes!

http://projectanvil.blogspot.com/2017/03/get-started.html

These lads (and lasses possibly, I didn’t check) have updated and collated all the datafax cards as well as coming up with new ones to cover some of the more recent vehicles.

I printed off one of those newfangled laser vindicators too, but for the sake of this challenge it’ll count as a regular vindicator for games of 2nd Ed. I may try to work out the points for it, but that’s a challenge for another day.

So that’s two vindicators at 185 points each for a grand total of 370 points.

Cheers :)

Mustafa’s Beakies: Month IV, Leader.

A pretty small offering this month, but you can’t have an army without a leader!

Space Marine Captain with power fist and melta gun: 96 points

Techmarine with power axe: 40 points

Total: 136 points.

Not much to say about these lads really. The captain was an obvious choice given the marines that I’d used, and the techie is an absolute classic.

As it stands, that’s a fully legal army so I’m pretty happy :)

Mustafa’s Beakies: Month III, rank and file.

Can’t have a space marine without space marines.

This is the second squad of beakies plus rhino.

Tactical Squad : 300pts

Krak Grenades : 30pts

Veteran Sergeant: 5pts

Chainsword :  2pts

Plasma Pistol : 5pts

Missile Launcher : 45pts

Meltagun : 8pts (ignore the fact that it looks like a las cannon!)

Rhino : 50pts

Total : 445pts

That’s basically the meat and bones of a space marine army right there so the rest will be the icing on the cake. I reckon a captain and heavy ordnance will get them fighting fit :)

Mustafa’s Beakies: Month II, rank and file.

I couldn’t let my lads go into battle without some backup, so here’s  a predator to keep them company :)

210 points for a twin linked turret lascannons, and lascannon sponsons.

This was a print of an Epic scale tank, but I loved how chunky it is so went with this rather than an actual 28mm one.

It’s been done in my usual messy style as I want them to look like they are right in the thick of it.

Mustafa’s Beakies: Month 1, rank and file

I figured I’d get the ball rolling with the bread and butter of the Imperium’s fighting force, the ever humble space marine :)

Tactical Squad : 300pts

Krak Grenades : 30pts

Veteran Sergeant: 5pts

Chainsword :  2pts

Plasma Pistol : 5pts

Missile Launcher : 45pts

Meltagun : 8pts (ignore the fact that it looks like a las cannon!)

Rhino : 50pts

Total : 445pts

I wanted something I could paint quickly and easily so I went with a simple two colour paint scheme. I chose off white as the primary colour as it lends itself well to Army Painter Quickshades, and I prefer shading to highlighting. As per usual I went with my battleworn style of painting.

Also, I got a 3D printer for Christmas so I’ll be using that for the tanks, and weathering/stippling is a good way of hiding print lines.

I had pre heresy Death Guard in mind when I painted them, but then Laurent put the idea of a Dark Angel successor chapter in my head!!! So for now, let’s just say their loyalty is up for debate ;)
