Big Lick Comic Con - May 2026

I had been to Big Lick Comic Con once before with Matt from Toybox years ago. I was planning to go this year, especially with the guest appearances of several cast members of the movie Aliens. Work and life got busy, so it snuck up on me, and I decided not to go.

Until about noon. I thought, I need to go. I called Matt who was still there. Told him I'd be there in about 45 minutes. The venue was moved since they sold the Dulles Expo Center to IKEA. The new venue was in an abandoned big box anchor store at a local mall. It worked perfectly. The vibe was great. 

I typically walk through a comic con/toy show once rather quickly to get a lay of the land and see what's out there. Then I do a more thorough walk through making my purchases.  This has bitten me in the past. Either things I liked were already sold or I can't find the item/vendor again. Oh well.

I first went back to where the Aliens cast was. 

First was an autograph and photo with Jeanette Goldstein (Vasquez). She was so nice. We chatted for several minutes. There was no one in line for any of the Aliens cast. Maybe they got swamped earlier in the day. I got there very late. I also got an autograph from Daniel Kash who played Spunkmeyere. Finally, I met Ricco Ross, the guy who played Frost. I'm not a big autograph guy, but it was so cool to meet these people from one of my all time favorite movies. 

I made eye contact with an artist so had to buy some of his comics. Actually it was his young son who was doing the sales. 

Of course there were Star Wars cosplayers with a huge set up.  1:1 scale diorama. 

A lot of tables were selling these 3D printed link chain dragons and animals. Pretty cool. 

Saw these X-Men VHS Marvel Legends sets. Won't pass up a Jean Grey or Mystique. 

And finally grabbed an Infinity War Captain America for a diorama I'll be working on. 

NECA Aliens - Colonel James Cameron

I swear I had purchased this when it originally came out. But when I was putting together some Aliens dioramas, I couldn't find him. I ordered him. Turns out, it's one of those Ebay stores that say they're in the US, but actually ship from China or Germany. Oh well. No big deal.
