FFO, Smiles And Funnies

With this kitty I join Nicole´s FFO. And maybe for Gillena´s, too? Hers is cute...

And here is something that made me give a thankful smile for Annie´s Smiles - found at FB:

"Damn, That's Interesting
My 18-year-old daughter was at Starbucks, alone, the other night. A man came up to her and started talking to her. A barista handed her “an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up.” How grateful I am for people who look out for other people!
Side note:
She felt safe and did not remove the lid, but let them know. She said the whole team was watching over her the rest of the time she was there. Thank you to the team at Starbucks on Staples and SPID in Corpus Christi.

Some... things to think about:

... and yet. I am 53 and start a whole new training.

And some funnies:

I saw a dude in a T-Shirt and trousers to his knees only...

We won´t see a solar eclipse, but "no sun" is likely to happen...

The series...

"The tastiest dishes with the funniest names

 Sweetbreads

Sweetbreads are the thymus and pancreas of calves or lambs."

 I´ll pass, thank you...

Have a (n)ice one, sun or not!

It Was Cold

1976 my doc stated I am too small and thin and sent me to an island in the north via Hanover with a bunch of strangers, all kids around 4-6, I was 4 (turning 5 there) and super-shy, it was a horror-trip and icy-cold. I could not read yet,so my Dad´d written my first and family name on the mittens.
They still hang here. Maybe as reminder, I dunno.

It was a bit traumatic, I think I´ve told the story before. But I came out well.
And at least I found a friend there, a boy too big. I hated fat butter, he hated thin, we stood in the correct lines and later secretly swapped our meals. I stayed small and thin and him, aw, well.

And for dinner I had another frozen pie, made in the air-fryer (I´ll never give that thing away!):

From a guy who comes "from Australia" and offers"real Aussie Pies".

Usually you get the pie in a paper-bag and bite in.
As Germany is the land of no pies we ordered a pie maker from Great Britain and made some by hand, see here, if you like.

Here is one of my favs, Morning Glory from Jesters:

THIS is an Aussie Pie!!! The frozen ones are rather "cakes" - never again (I have still three left.

The series...

"The tastiest dishes with the funniest names

 The Imam fainted

This traditional Turkish dish is the German translation of Imam Bayildi and consists of eggplants stuffed with onions, garlic and tomatoes and then braised in olive oil. The name comes from the story that an imam fainted with joy after tasting the dish. "

Do you have yummy, hearty pies available in pie-shops, hot, ready to eat?
I can´t wait to get some in Perth again!

Schwein Gehabt?

Took this pic of a sign somewhere in Perth.
Zapf could mean you get beer from the tap in there.

But the pig? There is a German saying, "Schwein gehabt" - meaning you came out lucky in a bad situation, and also for New Years people give marzipan-pigs to bring you luck.

This one, though...

Dunno, looks like a drunk pig in a Bavarian Outfit, maybe it came straight from the Oktoberfest, which I will never ever visit.
Either way, this makes me neither thirsty nor hungry...

This is for Tom´s Signs2 and I say I´m sorry, right now, Tom, I might make you hungry again with the series...

"The tastiest dishes with the funniest names

Bubble and Squeak

Bubble and Squeak is a British dish made from boiled potatoes and cabbage. The term comes from the sounds it makes when cooking."

Could imagine this is quite yummy. And not even bad, everybody hears you preparing it, reckon they´d smell it, too!

T STands For Full Week

My Rexi for cold drinks - I cannot drink anything hot from a metal cup.
So, Rexi and I join Elizabeth´s T.
And here is my other Rexi, my...

Wanna rap along, go visit Tom! It´s FUN.

The journal:

Monday: Plan: start with the walking pad again. Just... where is the remote???
I looked everywhere and whilst doing so made a cleanup. I was desperate! Without the remote the pad is useless!!!
Hung on the hook of my PC-table...
At least living room is ready for mopping and I threw some things out.
More bad news from my company. I can´t believe what´s happening, CEO leaves.

Neighbor´s star is STILL shining. I try not to feel important, but... is this for me?
(I left a note thanking him/her). 🥰 ✨

Tuesday: Called the job-center. Letter with password went out Friday, 1p.m. - from Nürnberg, will take a while. No, they can not give me the e-mail-address of Mrs N in Braunschweig, but I can give them the e-mail as paper-letter and they will give that to her.
Service-desert Germany or... chicanery? Logic?
Late brekkie: Ingo´s yogurt.  Best before Dec 10th 2024. Aw, well.
Clean-up part I.
Star morno and evening. 🥰 ✨

Wednesday: Thought the Star is gone, buhuu. No, the person just slept in 🥰 ✨
Got the Eski  out to hold our frozen food and defrosted the freezer (took forever), cleaned the kitchen and toilet tiles  - whilst doing that. Hard work, really - the pre-owners´d hired the cheapest company, all tiles are uneven.
Found out we have "tons" of frozen horse-sausages.

We took the one from 1995 and this one home from our journeys throughout Australia. Packed with books and tools you didn´t get here - this was pre amazon & co!

Thursday: 🥰 ✨ Every time I come into the living room when it´s dark outside I SMILE BIG.
My.back.hurts from all the cleaning.
Swiffer is good when you do this once a week, not every now and then...
Do you clean on a weekly basis? My T does, I am too lazy.
Puttering about, several books go to the uni / friends, some mugs go away...
Eek, started already Lucifer´s Season 2!
Tom Ellis (Lucifer) really is Welsh born!

Morning, went to the doc for a blood-test, still had my beanie on. A nurse rushed by, "Good Morning!" - then he stopped, turned around, gave me a huge smile and exclaimed, "cute beanie!". Is there a better start to the day?
The nurse who took my blood, "What did you do THERE?!!!" - the scar is over 20 years old...
And Ingo? "Wanna share a Pizza?" (huh? Actually he does not like Pizza).

And I wonder. Yesterday in Aschaffenburg an Afghan refugee ran into a kindy-group, stabbed a 2-year old to death (and one of the carers). The 2-year-old Jannes wanted to become a police-officer.
Huh? Did you know at age two what you wanna be when you´re an adult?
And yes, remember former "chancellor" Merkel saying "all refugees welcome".
Near to no women and kids came, but men... the women and kids stayed in the war zone and Merkel never ever even thought about it..

Weekend: Saturday: 🥰 ✨Ingo let the old tradition live up - Saturday = horse-sausages day. Yum. And because the smell is real bad he used the outside gas.thingy.

Later he made Boef Stroganoff. (YUM)
I asked him to open the balcony door for me so I can put the rest for keeping cool on the balcony-table. Whilst I focused on the table in the dark, Ingo quietly said, "say thank you!". Huh? For opening the door???

Guess what, I shouted!
Our star-neighbor was having a smoke - and shouted back he´ll keep it on two more weeks!!
Coincidences!!!
By myself... well, likely I would´ve looked up anyways.

Sunday: Löwenzahn, Die Maus, Fairy Tale, slow day.

Munchy:

Just the cheese, nothing else needed! YUM.

The new series:

"The tastiest dishes with the funniest names

 Toad-in-the-Hole

The name may evoke toads, but not a single amphibian was harmed in the preparation of this classic British dish. Instead, it consists of sausages nestled in a fluffy Yorkshire pudding."

Happy T-Day!

BUGS!

Aren´t they beautiful? Ahhhh, summer-feeling - and the artist is... Ente. And since Ente is an animal with a beak we have...

How about a new series?

"The tastiest dishes with the funniest names

There's no shortage of food, but what about the foods whose names will make you smile or scratch your head in confusion? From “sausages in a dressing gown” to “bear claws,” many of these fun dishes are delicious too! Additionally, some of them contain extremely entertaining origin stories."

Let´s start:

"Dutch Baby Pancake

The Dutch Baby pancake does not come from the Netherlands and is not the size of a real baby. Inspired by the German pancake, "Dutch Babies" are baked in a pan in the oven rather than fried."

Have  a good start into the week.
