From the rather excellent reimagining of Battlestar Galactica comes this space suit from Season 1 Episode 5 entitled: You Can't Go Home Again.

Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets (2004)
And Talking of BBC documentaries how about this one; Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets, from back in 2004.
Set in the near-future, this fact-based BBC 2 part drama follows a group of astronauts as they undertake an epic voyage across the solar system, trying to capture an icy block from one of Saturn's rings, getting lost in a Venusian sulphuric acid storm and attempting to drill into the disintegrating surface of a comet along the way.
Made by Tim Haines, creator of the hit series 'Walking With Dinosaurs', the CGI-rich drama is drawn from the latest scientific thinking, the opinions of medical experts and the real-life experience of astronauts.
I saw most of this back in 2004 but its maybe time for a revisit

Ministry of Space by Warren Ellis and Chris Weston (2004)
Just a few pages from the rather brilliant comic/graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Chris Weston. Its a joy to read and almost even better to look at.
It's a nice big slice of alternative history that would makes you proud to be British if it weren't for the... no go buy a copy and find out for yourself.

Silversun - Alien Presence (2004)
It is the year 2050 and the teenage crew of the Star Runner are two years into a journey to the Silver Sun — an amazing planet located in a distant solar system 45 light years away. It is their mission to ensure the safe delivery of 550 cryonically suspended New Settlers to populate the New World and pave the way for future generations of mankind. Theirs is a mission of breath-taking proportion — the crew on board the Star Runner are pioneers and the success or failure of this endeavour depends on them
....... And now you know
And these suits are from the very first episode; Alien Presence. After encountering a solar fog, the sensors on the Star Runner pick up a non human entity. Is it an alien? A major computer glitch threatens the entire mission.
We never had this over here in Blighty but it sound popular enough if you were the right age at the right time.
I've blogged it before but as the ever vigilant Tim Armstrong has pointed after the last Silversun post, these are a different type of helmet. Thanks Tim

Silversun - Jelly Belly (2004)
Silversun is a children's television series made in Australia by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). It features the adventures of the adolescent members of the crew of the Star Runner, an interstellar spaceship carrying a cargo of 550 cryogenically suspended colonists to their new home; Silversun. And now you know as much as me.
These images are from the 13th episode of the first season, entitled; Jelly Belly, and features that perennial favourite prop of the cash-strapped TV costume designer; the motor bike helmet sprayed silver. Just add big collar to disguise with varying effect.
