Pilot for a TV series that never happened, I would imagine for the simple reason that it's all a bit boring.
Set slightly in the future (of when it was made) Earth II is a space station built for scientific research purposes. Now bring into close proximity a nuclear bomb sent up by the Chinese, orbiting close enough to Earth II to destroy it and close enough to the Earth to start World War III if it goes off.
If only there were some handy scientist near by who could diffuse the situation aka bomb
