Big thanks to Tim Armstrong for pointing me towards this film. It's called;
Signale - Ein Weltraumabenteuer, or Signals: A space Adventure. Apparently it's an East German/Polish stab at doing a 2001-stylee sci-fi flick. It gets quite a damning review on IMBD which may or may not be fair. I've never had the pleasure but I find the aesthetic of 1970's sci-fi so appealing that I probably wouldn't care one way or the other.
