For my birthday my husband promised me that we'd have a picnic in the park. It's not a usual occurrence I'm sad to say, so this was a treat for me. I was originally going to pick up stuff from Trader Joe's to bring but got lazy and instead grabbed sandwiches from a nearby Subway. Not the best choice of picnic food but certainly not the worst. It was a REALLY windy day at Chace Park in Marina Del Rey and pretty cold too so probably not the best day for a picnic but we made do with heavy bags and shoes to weigh down our blanket.
Our view. Those are my plum stockinged feet and my husband's Vans.
I'd love to have a boat!
This park is really beautiful and quite clean too.
My veggie sub. It was one of the best ones I've had from Subway. The girl really packed the veggies in there. What makes a veggie sub worthwhile? Avocado, peppers, olive oil and vinegar. Without those four things, it's a bland sandwich. Other veggies included: lettuce, tomato, onions, green peppers, olives, cucumber, spinach, pickles!
Dried cranberries in my lap.
All washed down with a cherry gingerale. These are so good.
You can see the wind just pulling at my hair!
Our little seagull friend.
Pelicans! They are the funniest looking birds. You should see them groom themselves with those awkward beaks! (The guy in front-center is doing just that.)
