>bait

It was about time Krita actually fixed this, there's this thing in linux where they don't want to admit the faults of a program so they say
>"Doesn't bother me"
>"This WHOLE program is free have some gratitude"

And that retarded attitude irks me to no end. The user experience is THE most important thing, that's why Apple is so popular despite things as simple as the keyboard not working correctly in the 2020s. I know most of us can do a little troubleshooting to get things the way we like it, but things working out of the box is SO much easier especially for people new to your product. it's the same process for programming as well
having ai write the code for you is like having the ai draw for you
you still need to learn art theory but you don't need to draw anymore
that menial task gets outsourced

CRAB inches ever closer to it's May 17th starting date! New entries still are being accepted!

>What is this?
CRAB is an OCT where artists submit their OCs and participate in a three-round tournament where they are pit against an opponent to fulfill a prompt's task over the other. There are three rounds and thus three prompts that an artist must fulfill featuring their OC facing off against another OC using the theme and prompt as their guideline for content.

>How many people will be participating?
There is a maximum threshold of 50 participants.

>How long will this take?
From May 17th to Aug 25th. There's breaks to stop people from burning out between rounds but generally worktime for each main round is 2 weeks.

>Random art battles?
CRAB has had animations, VNs, DOOM.WADs, and more submitted as entries in the past, that's where the 'random art' comes from.

Sick! Done on DS?

The general thread for Manga / manga-styled comic-making, manga-style illustration and related comic work. That said, everyone is welcome here.

Support each other and talk about your work or the work of others that excites you. Inking, character design, paneling / layout, writing, planning, and other discussions are all welcome.
Post resources, questions, in-progress pages, breakdowns of other works, etc. If a work is not yours, credit the maker (unless it's fucking obvious like a full page of One Piece or something).
Thanks to everyone for making /mmg/ a level-headed and helpful place. Remember, drawing and making comics and manga are difficult endeavors, and we're all in this struggle together.

he can definitely get away with using thicker lines, which would make the panels feel smaller and more compact, allowing him to draw more since it will feel like you're not drawing as many lines. For far away things you can keep the thin lines or even draw the distant objects at full size then shrink them down by selecting them, that will thin the thines out too.

Oh wait I just reread the post. Yeah I don't really see an issue with the hand, frankly.
>>
>>7943610
ah, I had a feeling you were doing this because the panels are misaligned. I'm not sure which program you use, but Krita got a recent update that lets you create gutters the same way you would in CSP. So basically what you do is you use the square tool for your main page area, and you can use the gutter tool to divide it into panels with specific widths.

It's actually a great standard for making it
You are being useless to society if you are working under minimum wage as a freelancer.
You are coping.
You either freelance and make it, or integrate in the cog of society even at the lowers level.
If you freelance and don't make minimum wage, you are simply failing as a human.
Your point of view is so abstract and delusional that you have no measure for failure.

If you already have a base black, tinting it to adjust the temperature or to help integrate it with the other colors of the palette is perfectly fine, there's no real need to always mix a black from base colors, doing it can give you subtler shadows with different shades and temperatures, but honestly that's not something super important, and this is coming from someone who frequently mixes his own black with oil paints.
> Just not sure if I am playing to strengths.
Gouache is honestly so versatile that you don't really need to worry about that too much, it's not very good for painting on canvas and not the best choice for a technique like impasto (though you can do it if you are careful), but besides that, it's great for adding colors. If you use it because it's easy to set up and reactivate, you're already playing it well to its strengths.
> I really don't know what I am going for.
That can be tricky to find out. I feel like that most of the time too. But learning how to color is a bit of a separate process from learning how to draw, one will inform the other, but colors have their own particularities to look out for. You have any artists you really enjoy in terms of painting and such? Trying to copy a piece by them can give you a lot of insight.

THANK YOU anon! I'll keep this in mind while I redraw/sketch the area. I don't have a scanner but I'll try and do some digital when I am able to.

If you can go digital totally do it. I love trad and I started trad but its expensive and expenses build up. If you can get modern hardware and you're staring it ought to be better long term I think.
Worst case you'll at least save cash on physical assets and storage space for supplies (scanner/lightbox/erasers/pencils/inks/dyes/masking tapes/younameits).

Im on a screenless ancient minitablet so I can't really recommend anything but I think a display-screen modern thing should be great! Plus it helps a ton if your only drawfriends are online so you can get assistance quickly.

For right now if you don't have a scanner you can look up how people photograph their art with digicams and smartphones, I think some managed to make DIY lightboxes with old cardboard boxes and white cloth? If you don't go digital you'll need something like that for art photos.

From pure hardware I think regular printer paper works best for tryouts. Check regular and mechanical pencils and those erasers that look like a crayon, idk the name? "Stick eraser"? They help a ton and you can sharpen them like a thick crayon too. Totally grab red/blue pencils/crayon-pencils if you can, color helps a ton for WIPs.
For inking I used MICRON PIGMAs but you'll have to just go and see which thickness is best for you.
And remember - trad art allows it and you SHOULD copy/trace your own works to get them redone better. You can put your drawing on a piece of clear plastic or glass with a flashlight under, put paper on top, and redraw the better/correct lines like that. Or use house windows on a sunny day. Or use thinner paper on top of thick dark ink lines.
That way you can do a WIP in red, apply fixes/changes in black, put it on glass, put paper on top, redraw correct image.
