Is this lifestyle dead in America? Are there any real vagabonds left?
he was a political conservative, as proven by him joining his college republicans club, so its better he died, he would only have gone on to spread homophobia and bigotry if he had lived
yeah there are still some. its a lot harder now though because people are more anti hobo
>>2868947>people are more anti hoboGood. I hate the homeless so much. Go build a fucking cabin in the woods you degenerate fuck, or die in a bus, I literally don’t care as long as you stop committing property crimes and leaving your garbage and literal shit on the streets.
how do you train for mountaneering hiking and backpacking and out in generali know the optimal way is to load weight on a backpack and walk uphill and down, increasing distance, elevation and weight progressivelybut i live in flat area and it's depressing to drive for 1 hour just to be on the same boring trail. anything closer is shit, i need to go up and down the same hill 10 times to get close to the total elevation i want, it's boring and depressing and people who i encounter think i'm stupidany other suggestions?
>>2868307I should clarify that I am a hobbyist whi enjoys long through hikes and some light mountaineering not some pro or something.

>>2868745flyishing is actually highly effective in standing water too for bluegill. its pretty neat
>>2868745It's zesty
>>2868745because a big part of fly fishing is "presentation", i.e you're fly has to land and move in the water like a real insect. This means that sometimes, to fish certain pools or marks, and still have your cast land and present in a way which is convincing to the fish, there is no choice but to get in the river. You could use a bigger rod and do a longer cast but then it becomes very difficult to "present" your fly well, as you're competing against the wind and air resistance and gravity.Having said all that, it's not uncommon to see people wading when it's completely unnecessary. You see it a lot here in the UK with stillwater fly fishing. People will wade when it's completely unneccasry.Or maybe they enjoy being in the water?
Lure angler trying out float fishing for the first time here. I'm running a slip float with a stopper and bead on braid, tied to a swivel connecting it to about 60 cm of fluoro leader weighed down with a couple split shots.I keep getting tangles after every couple of casts though which is annoying as fuck, the braid keeps helicoptering around the float, even with gentle casts and feathering. I'm thinking it's because the braid is much more supple than mono/fluoro, will I have less trouble if I tie on a much longer leader and pass the float through it instead of the braid?
Near the end of the day, just a little while ago, a guy with 6 Stellas walks in and asks for line. I spool them up. Fuck. Those are really nice reels. You really get a nice product. He was a lonely old man, but I failed in my attempt to pimp my coworker and I.
As a person who has no family interested in anything remotely outdoorsy who could teach them anything, how the fuck do you get into the hobby?I don't know shit about fishing. I don't know shit about hunting. I want to get into camping but also don't want to do something fucking retarded because I have zero clue what I'm doing.Should I start just by reading? Any books for retards on the subject?Or should I just say fuck it and go /out/ and learn through trial and error?
>>2868626>Or should I just say fuck it and go /out/ and learn through trial and error? This, at least for camping. Start off car camping so that if you realise you forgot something important then you can bail.

>>2868626Camping is easy, fishing is easy. Hunting is more complicated. You'll need proper licensure, of course. For fishing all you need is a rod, some line, bait, and a knife. Get a tacklebox too. Look up some YT vids on fishing and knot tying. As for camping that's the easiest, as long as you can figure out how to erect a tent and start a campfire you're fine. You can of course upgrade that to full bushcrafting when you're ready. tldr just watch youtube videos you dont need to read a 'book' lmao

>>2868930You’re way wrong. I’ll drink a big cup of coffee fill up my water bottle and a ziploc of toilet paper and immediately hit the trail first thing in the morn. taking a full squat bowel clearing dump in the woods is the best shit you can possibly take you feel so empty and light afterwards. Man wasn’t meant to sit on a toilet.
>>2868934Why talk about what man was meant for when its only modern comforts that enable this anachronistic view?Try it without the coffee, the toilet paper, the ziploc, the water bottle, the car, and the showers. Then tell me thats what man was "meant for".
>>2868937That is what man was meant for and he found a way. As would I. I’ve used rocks and sticks before out of necessity and would or will again. Still prefer that to a toilet. Let me put it like this, I routinely grab a bag or paper plate or something walk out my back door and shit onto or into that and dispose of it because it’s that much better than using a toilet. I’ve been to jail and shit infront of other men shit beside them on those old Roman style open toilets too. They do have those squat toilets in Asian countries which are neat, I could get on board with that. It’s not about just shitting and it’s not about me it’s about limp wrist sissys too mindbroken domestic and and removed from nature to do what’s natural.

Shitcago, zone 5b. Not even growing anything yet aside from already established stuff (strawberry, blueberry, golden raspberry, black chokeberry, chuck berry).Question is about hot pepper. What conditions yields the hottest?I understand genetics is a huge influence, and I'm too lazy to min max soil ph and nutrients. However, what I have read is that stressed plants will be hotter. Less water and so on. I haven't even germinated any seeds, so I might get a plug of something bushy that can grow in a 5 gal like thai Birdseye or whatever I can find at me-nards.So, stress them out to get hotter, or water them like I'm going to have to build an arc?
>>2868787>No it's fine, dandelion front yards look like shit and make it hard to do things like play with children in them.Either, my ESL-ass doesn't know about a dandelion, that isn't like the dandelion everyone knows, or your kids are weak ass faggots who are afraid of stupid flowers. In spring, my "lawn" is like 70% dandelions and the kids don't have any issues. >>2861726not exactly a strenuous multi-day backpacking trip, but i explored the woods of my now-defunct alma mater hampshire college today. this pic is from climbing a fallen pine wedged in another tree, that has been there for at least some 15 years, and cracked when i reached the top (about a 12 foot drop). this was in a music venue in a forest clearing that successive generations of students made permanent. now there is a station with a tarp, a table, a massive cache of water bottles, a gas can, a grill, some ladders, some garbage bags, and everything you'd want if you were a hobo in the woods. tomorrow i'm gonna go bouldering after i visit a friend out here in western mass
>>2868881this is what they left in the woods. i literally clapped out loud when i saw what they did to this beloved place. they also strung up lights around the venue, which is cool. also, there's a trampoline hidden somewhere in these woods that is almost certainly unsafe to jump on
Swam nude in this river the other day pretty sure there’s trail cams but if they saw my balls and ass oh well I guess
Discuss nudism. Is it something you grew up with, or found later in life? Have you ever considered giving it a try?I wanted to try making a thread on a blue board in the hopes that there could be a serious discussion instead of the degenerate gooning the occasional nudism thread devoles into on /b/.
I've done it a couple times in Maui and it was based. Bodysurfing in nice water and nice weather nude really is a joy, much more than the sum of it's parts. The social vibe was great there too, I went alone and only casually chatted with people but there is some kind of energy in the air. >>2863568 described it pretty well.I'd love to do it more, but I live in NorCal and that water is too cold for my soft ass so I don't see much point. Probably a less cool crowd too, Maui had a range of older schlubs like me and hot young people that was pretty neat

>>2868786>>2868826>>2868828Not a lot of people know about glacier bears. The government likes to keep their existence on the down low because if the word got out too much then it could seriously damage tourism in the west. Those fuckers are scary intelligent and can and will hunt and eat humans. I've heard of them downing trees to block and trap people driving down back roads in the country. They peel the car doors right off and drag the passengers out. Scary stuff.
>>2868187I just would push over some fat american and run away

This is a thread for enjoying a pipe while doing outdoor activities. If you ask why this belongs on /out/, you've never spent an evening by the campfire with a pipe or bowl or blunt or spliff or joint or vape or edible or dab or oil, silently enjoying the nature around you, and you're missing out.>How to get startedPurchase a cheap glass pipe (or a simple wooden chillum) and a bag of some quality outdoor or mid-grade weed from a dispensaryor your usual guy. You will need a lighter and something to clear the bowl witha paperclip works well if you don't have a proper tool.Pack the bowl loosely, enough for airflow but enough to stay lit. Light the corner of the bowl and inhale slow. Smokeslower than you think you need to, the flower tastes best when it isn't cherried too hot. Tamp and corner or re-light as needed. Or you can just roll it or whatever.>smoking ganja will get you arrestedOriginally, the government found that weed smokers, following a careful study of the statistics (at a time when hemp was a cash crop) were just peaceful people who wanted to grow their own medicine, enjoy jazz and engage in mild tomfoolery. Nowadays, weed is being legalized against while the average American thrashes in the thralls of poverty. Put two and two together. Marijuana is just another good thing that was under attack by the government.>muh tobaccoNot the time or place (unless you're European.) Start your own thread.Comment too long.
