What's the deal with R.E.M? They seem to have influenced a lot of bands that I like, namely Pavement and Pixies. I've only really heard their big songs, and of those, I liked The One I Love and Orange Crush. Losing My Religion is ok too, I guess. Is their discography any good? Are the big singles representative of their sound? And, which album should I listen to first? For reference, my favorite band ever is Sonic Youth.

Document and Mumur imo, they have close to 10 listenable to solid albums but overall they were too early in the history of indie rock and so their music sounds dated or too basic in comparison to the bands that followed and learned from them, they either lack the energy or the raw emotion, the production quality, or the various eccentricities. Thats not to say they don't have tons of great songs but I think they were largely surpassed by 90s indie rockers. That said Velvet Underground imo paved the way before them and they were not surpassed in the same way because they were more out there. Their 3rd album especially feels like proto REM
>>
>>130337899
how so? you name one or two fags bands from around the same time REM was popular and point to them and act like REM was influential. i point out literally 100s of bands tried to copy bom jovi after they caused hair metal to go mainstream

what is stupid about my question anon?
obviously, no. many reasons, for instance feeling comfortable sharing tracks in a place like this so that I can get feedback and improve

>I will try collaborating and working in different ways than alone in a vacuum, maybe that will help
Yeah, do that.
Try new ways to create music, possibly change your workflow.
One big step for me was starting playing with two guitarists, one acoustic, one electric.
I started doing drums/percussion myself. Then I started running a fitting bass, piano arps...and so on, until we sounded like an actual band.

Pic related, I changed my whole workflow, and use, for example, an Akai APC64 that directly interfaces with Ableton Live, giving me what I consider a more natural way to interact with my DAW, allowing me, for example, to just create drums in real time.

Insecurity always accompanied me, even when presented with obvious evidence that I'm fucking good at most things that I do.
I also have full blown ADHD, which likely often doesn't help. But it also can be a plus, hyperfocus and all that stuff.
I'll likely always be insecure to a degree, a lot of artists are.
Important is to not let this stop you from doing creative things.

Why did Disco fall off so quick? You would think with so many popstars at the time doing it, that it would have survived all the hate.

Alice in Chains is Nu Metal since most the bands from that genre were inspired by them especially Jars Of Flies and S/T being the best 2 albums from the genre

Jazzmaster bridge pickup through a Bass Big Muff Pi. Amazing tone!

In my fuzz collection is a few overpriced pieces of shit like one by Death by Audio, the Big Muff, A Mastotron I bought because of St Vincent (her tone rocks what can I say), and also the one in the OP i believe which I'm not sure if its broken or not its been awhile. Still can't say I've found the right one for me which is a shame because I love fuzz

So you had two years to plot your revenge and this is what you come up with?

>First track has 3 beats and two of which are trash and the last while is great is only used for 20 seconds—also just complains in the same monotone flow the entire time (common theme for this album)
>2nd track sucks and feels unfinished
>Whisper My Name is great and what this album should have had more of (actual fully baked songs, not just riffing over beatswitches without a chorus)
>Run to Atlanta (forgettable garbage) also, why would you forgive Future?
>Shabang— pretty fun NGL
>Make them Pay (Zzzzzzz)
>Burning Bridges (Zzzzzzz)
>National Treasures (somehow botches the most anticipated song of the album by introducing a beat/song switch after just 1 fucking minute)
>Bs (Zzzzzzzz)
>WDIM (pretty good but nothing new)
>Plot Twist (Great) Album should have been filled with these
>2H4TR (Why.)
>MTR (Zzzzzzzz)

I am nearly 48 so just going to admit that but I cannot get into Drakes music. I actually enjoyed a lot ABOUT Iceman and his other albums but there was just nothing entertaining there for me. No big beat that you could see dancing too or bars I want to listen to again and again. This guy just appears to blab and blab endlessly for a whole hour. I notice critics don't like it either so maybe I am not too old to understand it.

One thing I want to say is I just miss the Black Culture of my youth. What ever happened to people saying "brother" remember that? My brother/brothers. Now its always nigger. Where my niggers at? nigganigga etc. People need to stop it with nigger. Its not working is it? If people deserve to die for saying it oops I guess just calling everyone nigger didn't really help the vibe in this country did it? I don't see it helping to call your own race your worst name it doesn't really make friends.
