Phil Austin - Roller Maidens From Outer Space (1974)

Phil Austin (Firesign Theatre)
Roller Maidens From Outer Space - 1974
Studio recordings @128

Phil Austin's surrealist tour de force from 1974 is a deft and delirious combination of radio theater and country-tinged rock music. The story mixes multiple genres from TV, radio and movies (religious telethons, situation comedies, noir mysteries, gender-bending science fiction) in a hilarious gumbo of cultural references, word play and catchy tunes. Of particular note is the clever manner in which the song lyrics are integrated in with, and play off of, the storyline. Among the voice talent featured on this album are fellow Firesign members Peter Bergman and David Ossman.

James Williamson

I don't know if James and Iggy are no longer speaking to each other (again) or if Iggy is doing another one of his George Harrison type things where he pretty much disavows James's contribution to the legacy of the Stooges. But my God after the lackluster "Post Pop Depression" and I blame Josh Homme for making a Queens Of The Stone Age with Iggy Pop as vocalist record. Iggy needs to get off of this "Music as Art" bullshit and give James a call right now!!!! James announced earlier this year he was gonna put out three singles, and I gotta tell you these six songs are better than anything Iggy has done this year, as a matter of fact the latest single "Sickkk" is in my opinion THE BEST SONG I'VE HEARD ALL YEAR. it has traces of everything I've always loved about The Stooges, to me Iggy has run out of ideas, however James still has The Stooges charisma all over him. I know Ron and Scott and Steve Mackay are gone so there will never be a Stooges reunion but I ain't looking for that or Raw Power 2. James and Iggy could make their "White Album" and I do think "Ready To Die" is a solid album. However after James's long hiatus without playing guitar the rust is gone and he's as solid now as when he was writing "Death Trip" I cannot find the words to tell you how strong these six songs are. The weakest song here is "I Love My Tutu" but it still beats ANYTHING OFF "POST POP DEPRESSION" I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS. My vote for album/EP of the year. Goddamn after all It's FUCKING STRAIGHT JAMES WILLIAMSON. Thank you James.

Songs
1.Sickkk
2.Blues Jumped The Rabbit
3.Where The Wild Things Run Free
4.I Made A Mistake

The Distillers - "The Fucking Extreme" Live from Lowlands 2004

The Distillers - Live from Lowlands Festival
Flevoland, Holland
August 11, 2004
aka - The Fucking Extreme
Soundboard or FM Source @VBR

The hardcore punk outfit the Distillers first came together in late 1998 when Aussie native Brody Armstrong met bassist Kim Chi at work and realized their love for playing. Soon they hooked up with Detroit guitarist Rose Casper and drummer Matt. Signed to Epitaph, the band issued its self-titled debut in April 2000. Sing Sing Death House appeared the same year, but was re-released in early 2002 thanks to the sudden popularity of "Seneca Falls." By now, Kim Chi had left the group to join Exene Cervenka in her band, the Original Sinners. Ryan Sinn stepped in to replace her; Matt departed to join Chi while Casper left during the height of "Seneca Falls." By summer 2002, the Distillers were composed of Armstrong, Sinn, and new drummer Andy "Outbreak" Granelli; joint American dates with No Doubt and Garbage were planned for later that fall. Guitarist/vocalist Tony Bradley joined the Distillers in time for the recording of their third album and major-label debut, Coral Fang, which was released in 2003 by Sire. For the album, Armstrong reverted back to playing under the name Brody Dalle, following her very public divorce from Rancid's Tim Armstrong that same year. Granelli left the band in early 2005, moving on to play with Darker My Love, and by summer, Sinn had exited as well, later joining up with Angels and Airwaves. Despite rumors, the Distillers, now just comprised of Dalle and Bradley, denied that they were breaking up, instead simply going on hiatus. In early 2006, Dalle had her first child, daughter Camille, with new husband Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. By the year's end, the two remaining members formally announced the band's disbandment and went on to form Spinnerette together.

Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub - My Private War (2000)

Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub
My Private War
Studio recordings @320
(Out of Print)

Phillip Boa (born Ernst Ulrich Figgen, 18 January 1963 in Dortmund, Germany) is a German independent music singer, guitarist and composer. His current name is unknown after two divorces and name changes. Phillip Boa lives in Dortmund, Hamburg and on the island of Malta. He has received several "Album & Single of the Week" awards in British magazines like NME, Sounds or Melody Maker. The style of the Voodooclub was described by NME in a review as "a cross between B52's and Captain Beefheart". The style of his lyrics is a mix of irony, love songs, sarcasm, often of bizarre and deranged content. ~Wiki

The punk rock of the Sex Pistols and the Clash has had a major effect on the music of German vocalist and songwriter Phillip Boa. As leader of the Voodoo Club, from 1985 until 1993, Boa created some of Germany's hardest hitting music. Since the group's disbanding, Boa has continued to craft what Melody Maker described as "reaming mixes of Afro rhythms, distorted guitar, and responding Nichtgesang." Boa arrived on the German music scene in a mid-'80s band that he formed with childhood friend Pia Lund. This group, which evolved into the Voodoo Club, released a five-track single, Most Boring World, in 1985. Launching their own label, Constrictor, Boa and Voodoo Club released Philister, the first of eight albums, soon afterward. Their second effort, Aristocracie, followed in 1986. Signed by the Polydor label, in 1987, Boa and Voodoo Club scored with a series of turbo-charged singles, including "Kill Your Ideal Now" in 1987 and "Container Love" in 1989. Their 1990 album, Hispanola, marked the first time that Boa sang in German. Boa and Voodoo Club reached its peak with the release of Boaphenia, which reached the German heavy metal Top 15 in 1993. Boa and the Voodoo Club's 1996 album, She, featured a cover of David Bowie's "Starman." Dissolving Voodoo Club in 1997, Boa released his debut solo album, Lord Garbage, in February 2001.

Tales of Murder and Dust - Hallucination of Beauty (2012)

Tales of Murder and Dust - Hallucination of Beauty

Tales Of Murder And Dust, was formed in 2007 with the desire to play noisy and cool rock music. Drawing on inspirations from especially surf music and film scores from classic Spaghetti Westerns, the band quickly gained the attention of the Danish press. When the band released their first EP in 2009, called Peyote, Tales Of Murder And Dust was critically praised for their slow and dreamy soundscapes with attention to folk-like details.

Tales Of Murder And Dust have spend the years following Peyote honing its musical expression even further, approaching a much more shoegazing sound, while supporting artists such as The Black Angels, Crystal Stilts, Wooden Shjips, and The Blue Angel Lounge.

On the 20th of March 2012 Tales Of Murder And Dust finally released their long awaited debut album: Hallucination of Beauty is an awesome thought-through record in the name of noise rock and shoegaze, yet with an increasingly obvious psychedelic touch, not least in the instrumentation, which often focuses on strings, percussion and sitar.

Tales Of Murder And Dust is:
Kathrine Kaspersen
Kasper Lund Resen
Jacob Korsgaard Jensen
Kristoffer Vilsgaard
Christian Sinding Soendergaard
Simon Toftdahl Olesen
