Miles Davis Quintet - Antwerp, Belgium 1967

Celebrating 4,000,000+ hits!!

Miles Davis Quintet - Konigin Elizabethzaal
Antwerp, Belgium
October 28, 1967

aka - Antwert Blues
Soundboard @HQvbr
Liberated Bootleg

*Original Notes*

After you digest that big old Nevilles po-boy for lunch, maybe you would like some evening music as well. The second great Miles Davis Quintet at the peak of their powers in the pre-electric era; Miles with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter and Tony Williams. A very nicely recorded show from BRT radio in Belgium with what was then the best band in the world. When you listen to these live recordings it brings home the fact that this was a working band. Not just any working band but just about the hardest working band around. This band played constantly in the clubs, the halls and the studio and the level of their musical conversation shows it. By late 1967 they are pushing the boundaries every night even on the tunes they had played for years. I'm going to post 2 of these shows but this one has always been my favorite of the two.

Track List:
1) Agitation
2) Footprints
3) 'Round Midnight
4) No Blues
5) Riot
6) On Green Dolphin Street
7) Masqualero
8) Gingerbread Boy
9) The Theme

Miles Davis trumpet
Wayne Shorter tenor sax
Herbie Hancock piano

The Band -And Then There Were Four

 *THANKS TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER

Nice show here from The Band sans Robbie Robertson but that's ok seeing as how I like Levon Helm as a vocalist better anyway. Now from what I can ascertain this is a boot there maybe some question of this post's legitimacy, if someone out there can show me that this is a legitimate release I will pull it. However from my vast and crack work research everything point to this AS A Boot.  The song "The Weight" was not provided by the original poster. See scans

Marshall Crenshaw - Assorted Car Parts

 THANKS TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER

Marshall Crenshaw was a mechanic and part-time musician working in Fairfield Ohio. Along with his friends Luther Perkins (Bass, Vocals) and Robbie Mcintosh (Drums) they secured a long standing gig playing the Westlake Drive-In movies. They would come on during the intermission and set up below the big screen. While the movie theatre was hawking their ads for soda, popcorn and coming attractions the band would perform the current hits of the day. During one brutal winter when the theatre had shut down for the season, the band found themselves playing to an empty snow covered field. At this point Luther quit and was replaced by Slev Brunsley. Knowing full-well that playing cover tunes was not a bridge to success along with the freezing cold temperatures that constantly put his guitar out of tune Mr. Crenshaw decided to come up with a new plan. Selling all of his mechanic tools he convinced the others to go with him to New Brunswick New Jersey. While there between gigs at Bo-Lings bowling alley and a part time job as a  door to door latex salesman, Marshall met a Mr. Max Kansascity Max convinced Marshall to give up his job as a pinsetter and become a full time musician. After a few years of struggling and while playing a set at a car wash a Mr. Barney Trudy who owned a small record company and also was getting his car detailed heard the band and signed them on the spot. Well the rest is history. See scans
