Miles Davis Quintet - Antwerp, Belgium 1967

Celebrating 4,000,000+ hits!!

Miles Davis Quintet - Konigin Elizabethzaal
Antwerp, Belgium
October 28, 1967

aka - Antwert Blues
Soundboard @HQvbr
Liberated Bootleg

*Original Notes*

After you digest that big old Nevilles po-boy for lunch, maybe you would like some evening music as well. The second great Miles Davis Quintet at the peak of their powers in the pre-electric era; Miles with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter and Tony Williams. A very nicely recorded show from BRT radio in Belgium with what was then the best band in the world. When you listen to these live recordings it brings home the fact that this was a working band. Not just any working band but just about the hardest working band around. This band played constantly in the clubs, the halls and the studio and the level of their musical conversation shows it. By late 1967 they are pushing the boundaries every night even on the tunes they had played for years. I'm going to post 2 of these shows but this one has always been my favorite of the two.

Track List:
1) Agitation
2) Footprints
3) 'Round Midnight
4) No Blues
5) Riot
6) On Green Dolphin Street
7) Masqualero
8) Gingerbread Boy
9) The Theme

Miles Davis trumpet
Wayne Shorter tenor sax

The Band -And Then There Were Four

 *THANKS TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER

Nice show here from The Band sans Robbie Robertson but that's ok seeing as how I like Levon Helm as a vocalist better anyway. Now from what I can ascertain this is a boot there maybe some question of this post's legitimacy, if someone out there can show me that this is a legitimate release I will pull it. However from my vast and crack work research everything point to this AS A Boot.  The song "The Weight" was not provided by the original poster. See scans

Marshall Crenshaw - Assorted Car Parts

 THANKS TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER

Marshall Crenshaw was a mechanic and part-time musician working in Fairfield Ohio. Along with his friends Luther Perkins (Bass, Vocals) and Robbie Mcintosh (Drums) they secured a long standing gig playing the Westlake Drive-In movies. They would come on during the intermission and set up below the big screen. While the movie theatre was hawking their ads for soda, popcorn and coming attractions the band would perform the current hits of the day. During one brutal winter when the theatre had shut down for the season, the band found themselves playing to an empty snow covered field. At this point Luther quit and was replaced by Slev Brunsley. Knowing full-well that playing cover tunes was not a bridge to success along with the freezing cold temperatures that constantly put his guitar out of tune Mr. Crenshaw decided to come up with a new plan. Selling all of his mechanic tools he convinced the others to go with him to New Brunswick New Jersey. While there between gigs at Bo-Lings bowling alley and a part time job as a  door to door latex salesman, Marshall met a Mr. Max Kansascity Max convinced Marshall to give up his job as a pinsetter and become a full time musician. After a few years of struggling and while playing a set at a car wash a Mr. Barney Trudy who owned a small record company and also was getting his car detailed heard the band and signed them on the spot. Well the rest is history. See scans

Lush - Live Paris, France 1994

Rebooted...
Originally posted July 9, 2014

Lush - The Black Sessions
France Inter radio
Paris, France
June 28, 1994
FM Source @320

Remember that saying about the ‘tree falling in the forest’, and how if no one was around to hear it, did it make a sound? While many lesser bands have their unconditional place in the hearts and minds of the ‘serious’ critical rock community, Lush are often viewed as an interesting footnote to Britpop or an ornate question mark to the genre known as ‘Shoegazing’. They're often deemed unworthy of serious discussion, repeatedly sidelined for commentaries on Ride, Slowdive, Chapterhouse, Echobelly, Elastica – anyone,
in fact, but them.

Perhaps you’ve only heard their bid-for-the-charts album before they broke up, and decided it was too saccharine for your particular cup of tea. Possibly you’ve noticed the pretty boy, pretty girl coupling that made them seem almost manufactured, and looked no further.

Bassist Phil King (ex-Felt & currently in the Jesus & Mary Chain) agrees that the tide seems to be turning and cites the 20-year rule: that sometimes it takes that long for

people to realize something’s true worth. Miki Berenyi (her of trademark postbox-red hair, and Japanese/Hungarian origins) thinks she’ll be dead before someone
says something nice about Lush.

Originally posted November 13, 2011

Japan - Live Hammersmith Odeon
  February 7, 1981
London, UK
Excellent FM Source @320

Following the 1982 dissolution of Japan, the group's onetime frontman David Sylvian staked out a far-ranging and esoteric career that encompassed not only solo projects but also a series of fascinating collaborative efforts and forays into filmmaking, photography, and modern art. Born David Batt in Kent, England, on February 23, 1958, Sylvian formed Japan in 1974 and served as primary singer/songwriter throughout the group's eight-year existence. Just prior to Japan's breakup, Sylvian began working with composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, with whom he released the single "Bamboo Houses" in 1982, marking the beginning of a longstanding musical relationship.

Brilliant Trees
After 1983's "Forbidden Colours," another joint effort with Sakamoto composed for the film Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, Sylvian released his 1984 solo debut, Brilliant Trees. The first step in his music's evolution from Japan's post-glam synth pop into richly textured, poetic ambience, the album featured contributions from Sakamoto as well as Jon Hassell and Can alumnus Holger Czukay. That year, Sylvian also published his first book of photographs, Perspectives: Polaroids 82/84; in 1985, he released Preparations for the Journey, a documentary filmed in and around Tokyo, as well as the EP Words with the Shaman.

T- Model Ford - Live House of Blues 1999

From The ORIGINAL FBS Archives...

T- Model Ford - Live House of Blues
Unknown City - Unknown State
October 30, 1999
Soundboard @256

This is no music for the precious and wanky-fedora-headed-claptonite-bloozers who whine about shit being out of tune and wring their hands over a guitar being japanese made. This is primal jankety-ass rattlin’ and buzzin’ raw music. Sounds like they used some boxes and tubs for drums. It ain’t right. But the blues ain’t right. Never has been. Never will be. Thank gawd. It’s flawed. This got did as it ought to be done. By feel and vibe. And that’s why I love it. And why I dig T-Model Ford and all the cats that back him up. They did it up right. Like an apple on a tree.

Mojave 3 - Live at Black Session
Studio 105
November 11, 1995
Paris, France
FM Source @ Flac & VBR

The band's very first live show.

Mojave 3 are a British band, consisting of Neil Halstead, Rachel Goswell, Simon Rowe, Alan Forrester, and Ian McCutcheon. Goswell, Halstead and McCutcheon previously played in Thames Valley shoegazing band Slowdive.

The band initially existed as a trio, consisting of Halstead, Goswell, and McCutcheon. After Slowdive were dropped by Creation Records, the trio decided to change musical direction to a dream pop/country rock/folk music style, and were signed by 4AD Records. They took on the new name "Mojave," following a suggestion by Wendy Fonarow, but upon the discovery of another band already using the name, the "3" was added (in reference to the group's three members). Rowe (formerly of Chapterhouse) and Forrester joined shortly after the release of their first album.
