I'm on a Mission...a Cold Mission

 

I've shared the works of 4Hero several times before (once as Jacob's Optical Stairway). They are a band that I listen to a lot & had quite a pile of material in Ye Olde Overflow, under 4Hero & many other Noms de Musique (Tom & Jerry; Waterproof: Project A-KO; & many more). Returning Once Again to 4Hero.

This release followed Parallel Universe & Jacob's Optica Stairway that I've shared in the past. This is simply a most perfect album! 4Hero are magickians of  break-ology & sampling, Here they weave a concept album from an unexpected palette of broken beats, soul, jazzy drum&bass.

 

The whole thing starts off with political poetess Ursula Rucker expounding the album's thesis, that Humanity is a hostile passenger aboard the sacred vessel Earth, witnessing our own harsh destiny & vessel Earth's destruction play out through a cosmic dance of Future jazz.
