Although trumpeter & composer Jon Hassell is primarily know as the creator of Fourth World music (& his work on it with Brian Eno), he has collaborated with many & dabbled in numerous genres. He has released several Darkjazz offerings, this being my favorite, The strangely beautiful title is taken from a poem by the great 13th century Sufi mystic Jalaluddin Rumi. Each track on this debut limited-edition cassette Big Ed's Dead Squirrel Wig & Magnificent Mustache feels like a track for an unreleased unfilmed Film Noir by David Lynch or a horror movie by John Carpenter.
