Evil Dead 4 ... Not Dead Yet
We've heard this before. But it's always nice to hear it.
Sam Raimi can't go anywhere without being asked about if and when there's ever going to be a fourth "Evil Dead" movie. Now, 20 years after the release of the third installment, "Army of Darkness" (and mere weeks away from the release of the "Evil Dead" remake), it looks like there's at least the desire to go forward with such an endeavor.
Raimi expressed his resurrected excitement for a fourth "Evil Dead" movie at the Meet the Filmmakers event at the London premiere of "Oz: The Great and Powerful."
"I would love to make 'Evil Dead 4,'" said Raimi, as reported by Bleeding Cool. "My brother [Ivan Raimi] and I plan to work on the script this summer."
Well, that's at least something, right? Now all we have to do is wait for the increasingly cranky Bruce Campbell to shoot it down.

ARMY OF DARKNESS To Return To Comics In February 2012!
Written by Elliot Serrano and drawn by Marat Mychaels, with covers by Tim Seeley and Marat Mychaels, Army of Darkness returns to comics with a new #1 next February 2012! In issue #1, A new chapter in the Army of Darkness saga begins! As the evil of the Necronomicon spreads across the cosmos, a new ally in the war against the Deadites emerges. Who is the woman named "Ash" and what relation does she have to "The Chosen One" Ashley J. Williams? And who is the alien Deadite creature who follows her across time and space? The answers lie deep within the pyramids of ancient Egypt...in a parallel universe! The adventures of everyone's favorite chainsaw swinging, boom-stick wielding hero continue! Be sure to get Army of Darkness in February, 2012!
"With the relaunch of the Army of Darkness series, we're hoping to take the story of Ashley J. Williams' struggle against the forces of the Necronomicon in interesting new directions, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original film," says writer Elliot Serrano. "We're going to meet new characters, face bigger baddies and explore what it truly means to be the 'Chosen One' in the AOD universe. Starting with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, so many talented people have contributed to the AOD mythos - not only in the movies but also in comics and video games - and living up to their efforts has been a real challenge. But I'm also drawing inspiration from those creators who've gone before me. As a HUGE AOD fan myself, I'm trying to tell a story that I would love to read myself!"
"I have had a chance to work on a lot of very cool projects through the years, but working on Army of Darkness with Elliot Serrano has been one of the best," adds artist Marat Mychaels. "Having a chance to add to the AOD mythology is very creatively satisfying."
The Evil Dead is a trilogy of horror films created by Sam Raimi. The films focus on the protagonist, Ashley "Ash" J. Williams, played by Bruce Campbell, who deals with "deadites", which are undead antagonists created by the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis. Released in 1992, Army of Darkness is the last film in the franchise so far, taking Ash back in time to England in 1300 AD.

We Know EVIL DEAD 4 Is Coming ... Why? Because Bruce Says So!
Get Ready To Rock Your Ash Off With EVIL DEAD The Musical
John Johnson of Darkstone Entertainment (http://www.darkstone-ent.com) has just wrapped production on Plan 9, the PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE remake (http://www.plan9movie.com) and while the film moves into post production, he has set his eyes on a new project:Evil Dead The Musical!
When Johnson was first approached with the idea of Darkstone taking on Sam Raimi’s classic film turned stage, he was terrified and intrigued. “I like many have loved Sam Raimi’s work for a very long time, and had seen the play off Broadway a few years back. I grew up with a very large musical background and am kinda a sucker for a good play. I felt that Evil Dead: The Musical paid homage to what I loved in the Deadseries and gave us a really nifty and new style in their adaptation. I am honored to throw my hat into the ring as a director of the play.” – John Johnson
The musical is set to open in October 2011 at Play On! Theatre (http://www.playontheatre.org/) in Charlottesville, VA for 14 shows, including a special Halloween showing. Auditions will be held July 10th-11t. Please visit the Play On! website or emailtheevildeadmusical@gmail.com for more information regarding auditions.
“Sam and his crew have had a huge impact on me and why I want to adapt their play for new audiences. When I was a young buck of the ripe age of 15 I started making my first feature film and was lucky enough to speak with the Heads of the Evil Dead trilogy such as Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Joseph LoDuca for hours on end at times. They took a glance or two at my film and nudged me in a few different ways. I can never thank them enough for their taking the time to give a little hack like me a shot. So I hope not to let them down or their fans!” – John Johnson
Darkstone Entertainment and Johnson want to reach out to the fans of the Evil Dead series! Things like homemade props, set pieces, collector items from the films, and any other creations inspired from the series we would like to incorporate into the production in some way. So, if you have an item, or ideas for a creation, or any other concept concerning the play, please contact the production team attheevildeadmusical@gmail.com or on their FaceBook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Evil-Dead-The-Musical/172599736132612) right away! “This isn’t just our production. We are fans just like everybody else. So why not work together with the fans to make the best run of the play as we can!” – John Johnson
We will announce show dates and cast announcements in approximately two months.
On a final note… Other future projects for Johnson is a trilogy of films based on the original Dark Tower mythology that Stephen King based his series off of. We hope to have a web site and teaser trailer up by the end of the year!

'The Evil Dead' Returns To The Midnight Movie Scene
Source: Emailwire
Grindhouse Releasing is bringing Sam Raimi's original horror classic THE EVIL DEAD back to the big screen as a midnight movie.
Raimi and producers Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell gave the go-ahead for a series of EVIL DEAD revival screenings to Grindhouse Releasing partner Bob Murawski, the film editor of Raimi's SPIDER MAN 1, 2 & 3, DRAG ME TO HELL and the EVIL DEAD sequel ARMY OF DARKNESS. The tour will take place across North America in 2010.
Stephen King hailed THE EVIL DEAD as “the most ferociously original film of the year” when the film premiered in 1981. Shot in Michigan and Tennessee, Raimi's low-budget debut was released independently with a self-imposed 'No One Under 17' rating for its graphic violence and gore.
THE EVIL DEAD launched Raimi and Tapert's careers and made star Bruce Campbell a cult movie icon, spawning two hit sequels: EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN and ARMY OF DARKNESS. The EVIL DEAD trilogy has become a fan phenomenon, ranked among the most popular and acclaimed cult horror movies of all time.
A special screening of the EVIL DEAD trilogy sold out L.A.'s New Beverly Cinema this summer. With a remake reportedly in the works, this theatrical release gives fans a chance to experience the original as it was intended to be seen.
"Nothing can prepare an audience for what they are about to see, because nothing punishes an audience like EVIL DEAD - especially on the big screen,” says Bruce Campbell. “I'm really glad it's back. People are gonna be hurt."
Formed by actor/director Sage Stallone and Murawski, Grindhouse Releasing restores and distributes classic horror and exploitation films. The company teamed with Quentin Tarantino in the '90s to revive Lucio Fulci's Italian horror classic THE BEYOND.
A similar theatrical break is planned for THE EVIL DEAD, with midnight screenings in select theaters in the U.S. and Canada. According to David Szulkin, head of theatrical distribution for Grindhouse Releasing, the Landmark Theaters chain will play the movie in several cities.
Dates and venues will be announced at GrindhouseReleasing.com. For bookings, contact David Szulkin at info@grindhousereleasing.com.

USA Launches Second Online Game Based On Burn Notice
USA Network announced today that its digital team will continue its aggressive push into the online gaming world with the launch of COVERT OPS 2.0, an alternate reality game (www.burnnoticeops.com) themed to the #1 scripted series on cable, BURN NOTICE. Developed in conjunction with the show’s creator Matt Nix, USA Network is once again partnering with GM’s Saab USA around the second installment of the most successful online game in the channel’s history. The game enables the show’s fans to get more involved with the franchise by turning users into spies and challenging them to conduct surveillance, clone a phone and plant evidence, all while behind the wheel of a Saab 9-3 Convertible.
“COVERT OPS 1.0 surpassed our expectations in creating an engaging new experience for our fans as well as extending the reach of our sponsor,” said Jesse Redniss, vice president, USA Network Digital. “In response to demand, we wanted to provide our fans with more of what they enjoy – challenging game play, character interactivity and great prizes. GM was a seamless fit for the brand, the game and its new missions in 2.0.”
Last season, the USA Network team shook up the industry with the launch of BURN NOTICE COVERT OPS 1.0, which immersed fans of the show into the action-packed life of a spy who has been ‘burned’. The game garnered more than 7.6 million page views from over 300,000 users during the course of the campaign. For the length of the summer run (nine weeks), COVERT OPS 1.0 accounted for 26 percent of total BURN NOTICE site traffic and engagement time, which was an astounding 12 minutes per entry (does not include pages per visit and uniques).
“We got involved because GM is always looking for innovative ways to engage current customers and attracting new ones. COVERT OPS provided a non-intrusive approach that allowed us multiple touch points with these customers and our product,” said Dino Bernacchi, branded entertainment director, GM. “While we knew the show was a big success, the online activation component was still unknown. The great story telling, engaging activities and the in-depth involvement with our product ensured success for GM in almost every category measured. USA knows what its fans want and provides partners like GM the opportunity to interact with them on multiple levels.”
COVERT OPS 2.0 not only builds on the adrenaline-fueled adventures the fans loved from the original game, but also includes seven new video-based missions featuring the recurring BURN NOTICE character Seymour (Silas Weir Mitchell). Each week, following an all-new episode, users will be able to go online to take part in a new daring mission and help Seymour retrieve a valuable microchip. The players who complete all seven missions are eligible to win a deluxe home entertainment system.
BURN NOTICE COVERT OPS 2.0 was developed in conjunction with Omelet (www.omeletla.com), a Los Angeles based full service advertising and entertainment company. The game will be the digital centerpiece of a robust online microsite for the series. Additional elements include video spy tips, full episodes, behind the scenes and more.
BURN NOTICE is a sly take on the spy genre starring Jeffrey Donovan (“Changeling”) as Michael Westen, a burned operative who finds himself stuck in the tropical paradise of Miami . Also starring Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless. Tricia Helfer (“Battlestar Galactica”) guest-stars.
