Evil Dead 4 ... Not Dead Yet
We've heard this before. But it's always nice to hear it.
Sam Raimi can't go anywhere without being asked about if and when there's ever going to be a fourth "Evil Dead" movie. Now, 20 years after the release of the third installment, "Army of Darkness" (and mere weeks away from the release of the "Evil Dead" remake), it looks like there's at least the desire to go forward with such an endeavor.
Raimi expressed his resurrected excitement for a fourth "Evil Dead" movie at the Meet the Filmmakers event at the London premiere of "Oz: The Great and Powerful."
"I would love to make 'Evil Dead 4,'" said Raimi, as reported by Bleeding Cool. "My brother [Ivan Raimi] and I plan to work on the script this summer."
Well, that's at least something, right? Now all we have to do is wait for the increasingly cranky Bruce Campbell to shoot it down.

"Ataque de Pánico!" (Panic Attack!) Gets A Big Budget Hollywood Makeover Thanks To Sam Raimi
Source: Yahoo News
Do you remember about a month ago when I posted the cool video from Uruguay called, "Ataque de Pánico!"?
You know, the one about the little boy and the army of giant robots that blow a town to bits.
I thought you would.
Well, come to find out that it wasn't just us folks here at Monster Island News who were oooing and awing over the short film, a bunch of robot loving geeks in Hollywood, with big wallets, were getting all worked up too.
Almost as soon as special effects man, and film maker, Fede Alvarez posted the clip to Youtube, he, and collaborator, Aparato Post, found themselves being overwhelmed with big-time offers from Hollywood studios wanting to turn their little project into the next "District 9".
To make a long story short, it was Sam Raimi who won out by plunking down $30 million to secure the rights for his Ghost House Pictures.
That's quite a financial turnaround for Alvarez and Post who took a whopping $300 out of their own pockets to produce the the five minute "Ataque de Pánico!".
According to sources, Raimi still wants to keep a South American feel for the film, planning to film it in both Argentina and Uruguay.
If Alvarez and Post could produce those kinda effects with just $300, just imagine what they could do with millions of dollars?
Look for this one to be spectacular.....that is, if they can come up with a good back-story to along with the robots blowing the sh*t out of Uruguay.
Here's the clip that started it all:

'The Evil Dead' Returns To The Midnight Movie Scene

Grindhouse Releasing is bringing Sam Raimi's original horror classic THE EVIL DEAD back to the big screen as a midnight movie.
Raimi and producers Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell gave the go-ahead for a series of EVIL DEAD revival screenings to Grindhouse Releasing partner Bob Murawski, the film editor of Raimi's SPIDER MAN 1, 2 & 3, DRAG ME TO HELL and the EVIL DEAD sequel ARMY OF DARKNESS. The tour will take place across North America in 2010.
Stephen King hailed THE EVIL DEAD as “the most ferociously original film of the year” when the film premiered in 1981. Shot in Michigan and Tennessee, Raimi's low-budget debut was released independently with a self-imposed 'No One Under 17' rating for its graphic violence and gore.
THE EVIL DEAD launched Raimi and Tapert's careers and made star Bruce Campbell a cult movie icon, spawning two hit sequels: EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN and ARMY OF DARKNESS. The EVIL DEAD trilogy has become a fan phenomenon, ranked among the most popular and acclaimed cult horror movies of all time.
A special screening of the EVIL DEAD trilogy sold out L.A.'s New Beverly Cinema this summer. With a remake reportedly in the works, this theatrical release gives fans a chance to experience the original as it was intended to be seen.
"Nothing can prepare an audience for what they are about to see, because nothing punishes an audience like EVIL DEAD - especially on the big screen,” says Bruce Campbell. “I'm really glad it's back. People are gonna be hurt."
Formed by actor/director Sage Stallone and Murawski, Grindhouse Releasing restores and distributes classic horror and exploitation films. The company teamed with Quentin Tarantino in the '90s to revive Lucio Fulci's Italian horror classic THE BEYOND.
A similar theatrical break is planned for THE EVIL DEAD, with midnight screenings in select theaters in the U.S. and Canada. According to David Szulkin, head of theatrical distribution for Grindhouse Releasing, the Landmark Theaters chain will play the movie in several cities.
Dates and venues will be announced at GrindhouseReleasing.com. For bookings, contact David Szulkin at info@grindhousereleasing.com.
