Writer Grek Pak and artist Cory Smith preview their upcoming "Weapon H"
It all goes back to the “Weapons of Mutant Destruction” storyline in WEAPON X. Dr. Alba’s goal was to create a Hulk/Wolverine hybrid to do his nefarious bidding. Enter: subject Clayton, a.k.a. H-Alpha. Clay was ex-military before coming under the power of Weapon X’s Batch-H division and, unlike the other test subjects, he wasn’t personally recruited but rather was sold into the project. The doctor also left a bit more of his brain than the others, hoping that this would keep Clay’s military training and discipline intact, potentially making him a better minion. He seemed like the perfect candidate. No one ever expected him to go rogue, but that’s exactly what he did. With his creators destroyed once and for all, Clay was finally free.
Though the memories of his past were murky, Clay knew he had a family out there and so he traveled from one Eaglestar facility to another, wiping out any files they had on him and anyone close to him. Of course, this also meant that Clay was destroying any chance of ever reuniting with his family again… but protecting them also means protecting them from himself.
This is where we meet Clay in WEAPON H #1 by Greg Pak (INCREDIBLE HULK) and Cory Smith (X-MEN BLUE)—available March 21! Clay is still on the run when a new kind of Wendigo threatens the safety of those around him. Can Clay really sit this one out, or is it time that this wayward test subject decides to be a hero at last?
We asked writer Grek Pak and artist Cory Smith to give us as many hints as they dared!
Marvel.com: I know you both brainstormed together for the inception of this longer run—what aspects did you guys need to fiddle around with the most when you started working on this series?
Greg Pak: Well, we had a great phone conversation where we started talking through what makes our guy tick and what he really WANTS. We’ve got a guy who’s part Hulk, and the Hulk traditionally just wants to be left alone, right? But we wanted to be sure we had a proactive, character-based mission for our guy. Can’t reveal too much for fear of spoilers… but I’m loving how this is coming together.
Cory Smith: One of the cooler parts of this project, for me, was to be included in some of those initial brainstorming sessions. Greg and our editor, Darren Shan, really welcomed me into the process and we had a great talk about this series that probably went longer than any of us expected [laughs]. We wanted to fit Weapon H into the larger Marvel mythos in a way that was different than the way Hulk or Wolverine did! I threw out a few random references to some Marvel lore and characters in our phone call, and when Greg turned in a story outline later that week I was surprised to see some of the things I mentioned were included! That’s when I knew this was going to be fun.

Vashnu succeeds in persuading Kronsky to remove the helmet and abandon his dreams of power. But now the helmet becomes sort of a hot potato as it exchanges several hands in the next several minutes. First, Deadman occupies Inga Brand's body, dons the helmet, and uses it to fashion him a new, solid body. However, the body disintegrates after a few seconds. Then, another man appears and steals the helmet, but Deadman occupies his brother's body, which causes the man to be thrown into a tank full of water, and die when the helmet explodes. With the helmet destroyed, Kronsky (who invented the helmet) feels that he has nothing left now, but Inga reassures him that he has a place with his new family, the circus people. Deadman, angered, asks Rama Kushna why was he taunted with freedom from his ghostly state. Rama appears as a face on a tree, and tells Deadman that he must adjust to his ghostly gift, and warns him that it may last for an eternity. Deadman screams in frustration.

All-Star Squadron #1, September 1981 Issue - DC Comics
Cover pencils by Rich Buckler, inks by Dick Giordano. The World on Fire!, script by Roy Thomas, pencils by Rich Buckler, inks by Jerry Ordway.
The All-Star Squadron was a series that featured the Justice Society fighting both crime and Nazi superagents alongside various Golden Age-era independent heroes of their once-native Earth-Two universe in the time period of 1942, with the expanded team of heroes called the All-Star Squadron -- a concept later used in the DC Animated Universe's Justice League Unlimited series with modern-day heroes. Following the Crisis On Infinite Earths, Mekanique would show up and cause the new post-Crisis All-Star Squadron history to be held back until her mission was completed in 1942, then with the releasing of that history, the Golden Age versions of Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Speedy would be forever erased. It was followed by a sequel series called The Young All-Stars, which focused on a subgroup of young teenagers with powers and abilities similar to those of the erased Golden Age heroes mentioned.

The Monster and the Man-Beast!, script by Stan Lee, pencils by Frank Giacoia (layouts) and Herb Trimpe, inks by John Severin.
The Hulk rampages across a Chinese military base, swatting away soldiers with a long piece of timber. The soldiers fire a shell from a tank, but the Hulk uses his pole as a lever and upends the tank. More soldiers arrive and open fire on the Hulk, but the bullets bounce harmlessly off him. Annoyed, the Hulk leaps into the air and lands some distance away from the base.
As night falls, the Hulk walks through a dark canyon, accidentally setting off a hidden electronic eye. The signal alerts more soldiers and they mount a second attack against him. The Hulk dives into the soldiers and sends them sprawling. He then picks up a Howitzer cannon and begins swinging at them.
He then realizes that he has wandered towards a missile base. A large rocket is in the final phases of its countdown, so the Hulk leaps onto the hull of the ship, hoping to ride it to a better place. The Hulk's weight alters the calibration of the rocket's guidance systems, altering its course. The unmanned missile crashes into the middle of Antarctica and the resulting explosion from the crash renders the Hulk unconscious.
He awakens as Bruce Banner and discovers that he is now in the ecological oddity known as the Savage Land. A tribe of barbarian Swamp Men finds him and prepares him for a ritual of human sacrifice. Ka-Zar, Lord of the Savage Land finds the Swamp Men, and battles them, freeing Bruce Banner.

Following his battle with Iron Man, the Sub-Mariner rushes toward the submarine piloted by Warlord Krang with Lady Dorma aboard. Namor is still furious at the supposed betrayal of Lady Dorma who, unknown to Namor, has been blackmailed into marrying Warlord Krang.
As the prince of Atlantis approaching Krang's craft he is attacked by the ships hydro-blaster, prompting the Sub-Mariner to strike the hull of the ship with it's own body. With the ship attempting to land on nearby building, Namor attempts to stop it from landing and is struck by the ships sonic vortex weapon. Krang is attempting to strike a weak spot on the Sub-Mariner's skull in the hopes of causing him amnesia like the type that plagued him for years until his memory was returned by the Fantastic Four.
Namor survives the blast unharmed and with his facilities still together and resumes his attack. The battle is being watched by Number 1 of the Secret Empire who hopes to enslave Namor to serve the Empire and help it raise to prominence once more. With Krang's ship hovering over the sea once more, Namor gets to a window where he sees Lady Dorma who tries to explain her situation to the Sub-Mariner. Namor smashes through the glass only to be blasted by Warlord Krang, and getting knocked back into the ocean.
Coming back up from the water, Namor neglects to notice Number One arriving on the scene with a labotomizer weapon that he hopes to use against the Sub-Mariner to erase his memory. The work is done for him by Warlord Krang however, who fires a powerful fleet destroyer missile that explodes on impact with Namor. Although the explosion is massive, Namor is seemingly unharmed and hurled into the ocean once more while Krang flees the scene with Dorma.
When Number One pulls Namor out of the water, he is surprised to find that the Prince of Atlantis has once more been struck with amnesia. Taking advantage of this Number One tells the Sub-Mariner that he is the enemy of humanity.

Disney Begins Production On THE AVENGERS
Production has commenced today in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated movie “Marvel’s The Avengers,” directed by Joss Whedon (“Serenity”) from a screenplay by Whedon. The film will continue principal photography in Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. Robert Downey Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as Thor, Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Captain America, Jeremy Renner (“Thor,” “The Hurt Locker”) as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo (“The Kids Are Alright”) as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson (“Iron Man 2”) as Black Widow, Clark Gregg (“Iron Man,” “Thor”) as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) as Nick Fury. Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.
Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as SHIELD, finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest Super Hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of Super Heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of SHIELD, as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.”
“Marvel’s The Avengers” is being produced by Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Patty Whitcher, and Jon Favreau. Marvel Studios’ Jeremy Latcham and Victoria Alonso will co-produce.
The creative production team also includes Oscar® nominated director of photography Seamus McGarvey (“Atonement”), production designer James Chinlund (“25th Hour”), Oscar winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne (“Elizabeth: The Golden Age”), Oscar winning visual effects supervisor Janek Sirrs (“Iron Man 2,” “The Matrix”), visual effects producer Susan Pickett (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”), stunt coordinator R.A. Rondell (“Superman Returns”), and four-time Oscar nominated special effects supervisor Dan Sudick (“Iron Man,” “War of the Worlds”). The editors include Oscar nominated Paul Rubell (“Collateral”) and Jeffrey Ford (“Crazy Heart”).
Marvel Studios most recently produced “Iron Man 2” which was released in theatres on May 7, 2010. The sequel to “Iron Man,” starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow as well as Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the number one spot its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million. To date the film has earned over $620 million in worldwide box office receipts.
In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies, “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.” “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey Jr. originally dons the Super Hero’s powerful armor alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008 and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million its opening weekend and grossed over $571 million worldwide. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk” marking its second number one opener of that summer. The spectacular revival of the iconic green goliath grossed over $250 million in worldwide box office receipts.

Sources: io9 / Urlesque / Avery Guerra
What do you do if the local bully's pull your pants down and whip the crap out of you in front of the neighborhood hottie?
Well if you are in Bangladesh, and you have a chemistry set, you go home and mix yourself up a smoothie that will turn yourself into a eight-foot-tall green guy that looks a lot like Lou Ferrigno, that's what you do!
Oh, and um, wear a skirt that looks like it came right off of Xena's booty.
Well, at least that is the premise of the new Bangladeshi sci fi movie "HALKa", which I assume means "Hulk", because it is nothing more than a rip-off of "The Hulk".
If you recall back in June I posted an article about the Bangladeshi remake of "King Kong" called "Banglar King Kong" which was something you just had to see to believe. Now, "HALKa" doesn't look a nutso as BKK, but from what we see in the trailer (below) it looks like it is pretty out there.
Even though we don't see any of it in the trailer, this is a "Bollywood" type film, so it would be safe to assume that at least 60% of the film will be like a music video with singing and dancing, which may actually help a film like this be, well, at least somewhat entertaining.
That's aside from all of the unintentional humor.
I asked this question in my last article about a film made in Bangladesh, "doesn't the country have any copyright laws?" You would figure that Marvel Comics and Stan Lee would be mobilizing the the lawyers about now if they do.
That is, unless the makers of the film actually bought the rights?
Na ...... I doubt that.
Anyway, the clip is a riot, and it is certain to become an Internet sensation:

Marvel Movie News - Johansson Is The Black Widow - Movies Pushed Back To 2011
Source: WENN
It appears that Marvel Entertainment is making some big moves to ensure that they own the box office for the next two years. First they cast one of Hollywood's sexiest stars as a popular villain, then they move several films back a year to monopolize the summer of 2011.
First things first. It seems that Scarlett Johansson has been popping up in the news a lot as of late. Just last week ago it was revealed that the buxom beauty would be taking on a "Xena-like" role in the upcoming action film, "Amazon", now news has surfaced that she will play the Black Widow in the next "Iron Man" film.
Recently a scheduling conflict forced actress Emily Blunt to turn down the role of the Black Widow, opening the door for Johansson to be cast as the popular villain.
As it stands now, "Iron Man 2" will boast a truly 'all-star' cast, which already includes such names as Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow , Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke (who just joined the cast to play the villain Whiplash) and now Johansson.
As it stands, "Iron Man 2" is scheduled to be released in 2010......well maybe?
This leads right into the part about the re-scheduling of some of the upcoming films based on Marvel Comics heroes.
Reports coming out of Marvel Entertainment these days, point to studio possibly moving "Iron Man 2" back, yet another year, to be released in the summer of 2011 alongside "The First Avenger: Captain America", "Thor" and "Spider-Man 4".
Likewise, Marvel has reportedly moved the release of "The Avengers", featuring Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, The Hulk and Captain America to the summer of 2012.
If indeed Marvel moves "Iron Man 2" to the summer of 2011 to go along with the other three films scheduled for that time period, they may very well own the box office. Then again, maybe too many superhero films at one time may lead to low numbers for each film. Too much of good thing can be a bad thing sometimes and Marvel may be wise to rethink putting all their eggs in one basket.
We will have to see if the gamble pays off.

Downey To Reprise Iron Man Role In Avengers Movie
Source: WENN
Remember last week when we were discussing a proposed Avengers movie? Well today we have a little clarity on the film and some big-time casting news.
According to WENN, actor Robert Downey Jr. has signed a new deal with Marvel Studios to reprise his role as Iron Man in The Avengers alongside other Marvel heroes Captain America, Thor and the Incredible Hulk At this time however it is not known whether The Hulk will be part of the team or the villain that they fight against.
Last week Marvel Comics president Kevin Feige had told MTV that an Avengers film, that featured The Hulk, was on his "wish-list", but at that time he stated that everything was up in the air. The signing of Robert Downey Jr. is sure-fire indication that things have gone into overdrive since that time.
Downey will also appear in two more Iron Man movies as part of the contract, reports industry magazine Variety.
Iron Man 2 is due for release in 2010 while The Avengers will hit cinemas in 2011.

Marvel President Gung Ho For Hulk Vs Avengers
Source: WENN
Marvel Comics president Kevin Feige is really jonesing to get some of his heroes in a scrap on the big screen. His first idea is to make The Hulk the villain in a proposed film based on the superhero group, "The Avengers."
Feige recently told MTV, "Here's the thing - it is all in the planning stages, but certainly if you look back to any number of Hulk comics, or Avengers comics, or The Ultimates comics or the Ultimate Avengers DVD that we released, it certainly makes a hell of a sequence. To have all of the Avengers going up against a green goliath? I think that would be very cool to see that on the screen."
I find it interesting that Feige managed to forget to mention that The Hulk was actually one of the original members of The Avengers.
To be honest if he really wanted to do a battle with The Hulk then he would have a choice of several epic battles versus Marvel characters to choose from. All of them more epic than any fight with The Avengers. Both Spider Man and the Fantastic Four come to mind. In fact a meeting between The Hulk and The Four would bring an epic battle versus The Thing, and those have been some of the most memorable in comics history.
Maybe Feige needs to rethink his fight card?
History:
The Avengers is a team of fictional superhero characters in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Originally created using preexisting Marvel characters, variously created by writer-editor Stan Lee, artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby and others, the team first appeared in The Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963).
Labeled "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", the Avengers originally consisted of Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Almost from inception, however, the roster has been fluid: The Hulk departs; Captain America joins and soon afterwards leads a whole new team. The rotating roster has become a hallmark of the team, although one theme remains consistent: the Avengers fight the foes no single superhero can withstand — hence their battle cry, "Avengers Assemble!" The team has featured humans, robots, gods, aliens, supernatural beings, and even former villains.
