Miniatures Are Cool!
Next month sees the release of a box set of miniatures, for the Doctor Who: Exterminate! skirmish game, focusing on the 11th Doctor and his companions (namely Amy, Rory, River, and Clara).
Although not yet available for pre-order from Warlord Games, painted examples of the miniatures can be seen below.
The box set will also include the necessary cards to use these characters in your tabletop battles.
Then, scheduled for April, comes a wonderfully retro box set, from the Second Doctor era, featuring two Dominators (Navigator Rago and Probationer Toba), three Quark robots and the relevant Exterminate! game cards.
See below for examples of the painted miniatures.
The newest 'Star Wars' clip takes us on a 360-degree drive through Jakku
Ready to not work at all today? Good. Because we're going to be playing this interactive Star Wars: The Force Awakens game all day.
Created exclusively to the Star Wars Facebook, the 360-degree game lets you drive a speeder through what looks like an Imperial Destroyer graveyard on the newly revealed desert planet Jakku (which looks a lot like Tatooine, to be honest).

It's pretty awesome. Other than being a pretty suitable replacement for those Oculus Rift glasses we're never going to get, it gives us a pretty in-depth sneak peek at the battleship graveyard where we'll probably meet Rey. You can even see some alien heads pop up behind the ships if you look close enough! (We haven't watched this video 10 to 12 times). There goes our lunch break.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in theaters Dec. 18, 2015.

CELEBRATE SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED'S ANNIVERSARY
From Marvel Comics
"Spider-Man Unlimited" is full swing into Marvel’s highly acclaimed Spider-Island series and Mary Jane has already come through the portal to help the good fight against The Sinister Six. However, it doesn’t end there as now another familiar face is entering the fray with the arrival of an alternative dimension Black Cat through a brand new week-long event which starts in the game today!

But today is more than just a celebration of playable fan favorites joining the Spidey army; today also marks the celebration of the first full year of "Spider-Man Unlimited" on the App Store. When the Sinister Six first attacked in September 2014, players were able to raise an army of 21 alternate dimension Spider-Men, from Cosmic Spider-Man to Spider-Man Noir; and now one year later that number has risen to over 70 with famous faces such as Miles Morales and Superior Spider-Man joining the fight, alongside some perhaps unexpected but equally as important web-headed warriors like Anansi the Spider God and Spider-X! That’s one huge Spidey army! And it’s only getting bigger!
All weekend Gameloft will be celebrating the anniversary with an event kicking off on Saturday, September 12 and lasting until Monday, September 14, and each player will be receiving a very special gift over the weekend that’ll include a free Spidey, as well as vial boosters, free premium portals and free standard portals.
Download the game on iOS and Google Play to join the celebrations!

Godzilla On Monster Island Video Slot Machine
Source: IGT
It seems that there is some sort of conspiracy going on to get me into a casino. Yes, a very definite conspiracy to get my big white parked in front of a slot machine. Sure I play the slots from time to time, who doesn't, but I'm no high roller and I can easily resist an urge to plunk my hard earned dough into a one-armed bandit.
That will power is starting to ebb however with the recent introduction of a slot machine that is classic Universal monster themed. I loved to play the old "Creature From The Black Lagoon" slot machine so I figured that I give the new game a shot. Anyway, I can resist "The Creature", "Wolfman" and "Frankenstein" when I want to ...... but can I resist "Godzilla"?
Probably not.
Yes, the "King of Monsters" has invaded the casino!
Here is the skinny from slot machine manufacturer IGT:
Launch into the explosive world of monsters and mayhem with Godzilla on Monster Island Video Slots. Packed with larger-than-life Godzilla characters, this MegaJackpots animal provides some exhilarating interactive features.
During the Godzilla vs. the Military Bonus, players control the path of Godzilla's atomic breath to military vehicles with the guidance of their hand.
Look for Mothra and Godzilla to enter the base game to reward random wilds and more. And in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, the legendary monsters battle in an epic Free Games match.
Innovative technology, frequent bonuses and an atomic progressive keeps players engaged and immersed in some mighty, monstrous entertainment.
"Godzilla on Monster Island Video Slots" contains animations of Godzilla, MechaGodzilla, Gigan and Mothra.
Damn these slot machine makers will make a gambler out of me yet!

Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Go Back In The Casino! Universal Monsters Invade MONSTER JACKPOTS
Source: WMS
I grabbed this little story off a press release about new slot machines that will be featured at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas next week.
Slot machine manufacturer WMS has just come out with a new game that will feature the classic Universal monsters Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Wolfman and The Creature From The Black Lagoon.
As many of you out there probably already know, I have spent many an hour in Vegas parked in front of the Creature From The Black Lagoon slot machine (photo left) dropping in my hard-earned money ....and loosing it. Regardless of my unlucky ways I always loved playing the game due to the wonderful graphics and animations. This new game promises more of the same so it would be safe to assume that when it comes out I will be dropping a twenty into it hoping that Lady Luck will finally smile on me.
Here is a brief description of Monster Jackpots from the press release:
Monster Jackpots: This new theme is the first game from WMS that features the classic Universal Studios Monsters(TM) such as Frankenstein, Dracula, Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Bride of Frankenstein in unique base games and bonus rounds. In the free spin bonus round, players select their own volatility level to try to capture Monsters and win a large jackpot. (initial approvals anticipated in the June 2012 quarter)
WMS also makes a kick-ass looking Star Trek slot machine called STAR TREK Battlestations. You can check that out HERE.

Okay Trekkies Do You Think That You Can Outsmart 20Q?
20Q™ STAR TREK will test the knowledge of Star Trek aficionados by asking players to think of any sentient being, place or thing from the iconic entertainment franchise. The all-knowing 20Q™ will then guess what the player is thinking in twenty questions or less. Fans eager to stump the game better do their homework, because with each game played, 20Q™ gets a little smarter.
20Q™ dares players to stump the A.I., which has become an expert in just about everything from Harry Potter, The Simpsons, music, sports, movies, TV, people, the Old Testament, Doctor Who, and the U.K.’s longest running soap, Coronation Street.
Visit http://20Q.net/startrek and try to stump the newest version of the all-powerful neural-net of 20Q™.
20Q™ is an artificial intelligence, a website, a company and a phenomenon that speaks for itself at http://20q.net/. Players think of something, and 20Q™ guesses what is on their mind, in twenty questions or less.
Each time the online game is played it learns a little more. After more than 62,000,000 games played and half a billion questions asked, 20Q™ has evolved from an experiment in artificial intelligence into a software development firm that licenses games built on the capabilities of the 20Q A.I.
Inventor Robin Burgener has nurtured this A.I. technology since he created it in 1988. The 20Q™ A.I. played 2,000 games in the first ten years of its existence. By April 2008, more than 60 million games were played. 20Q™ has been translated into more than 20 languages, so now more players from around the world can test its knowledge. Handheld versions of the original 20Q™ Classic (in nine languages), 20Q™ Harry Potter, 20Q™ People, 20Q™ TV, 20Q™ Rock & Pop, and 20Q™ Sports are in stores now, with more specialty versions to come. Check it out at http://20Q.net.
Licensed to Radica Games USA Ltd., a subsidiary of Mattel, Inc., millions of the popular and addictive handheld versions have been sold worldwide. The original handheld 20Q™ game has won many awards, including the 2006 Toy Industry Association’s Electronic Toy of the Year Award and the 2007 U.K. Toy Retailers’ Association Special Recognition Award.
